We stayed here three nights. We went to New York City for our daughter‘s 21st birthday. There was four of us in one room. We were pretty much stacked on top of each other. The room was very small and equipped with double beds. The room faced the rear of the property. The view outside was absolutely disgusting. There were white garbage bags full of something all over, construction debris and piles of old furniture, very unsightly. Pretty much looked like a part of the city dump. Shocked that hotel management would allow this type of eyesore to be in behind their property. If they own that property, clean it up! If not, get the city involved to get it cleaned up. The toilet in this room leaked as well. We brought this to the attention of the front desk who agreed to move us the next day as they had no more rooms available for that night so we agreed to that. The next day we were moved to what they called a double superior, this is a complete joke. The room was no different than the one we had, only smaller. The breakfast each morning was edible, but nothing to write home about and it was absolutely packed each day and truthfully not enough room to accommodate the amount of people that were using it. I will say that the staff was helpful and friendly, and they were accommodating to our needs. They would be the bright spot of our experience. I’ve stayed in worse, but I wouldn’t stay here again. If we go to New York again, I will definitely pick a different place to stay.

Looking for a budget-friendly hotel in Midtown West? Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Midtown West by IHG, located at 538 W 48th St, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category and offers a convenient base for exploring New York City. Recent guest reviews provide insights into what to expect during your stay.

One guest who stayed for three nights with a party of four for a birthday celebration found the room to be very small with double beds, feeling "pretty much stacked on top of each other." Their room faced the rear of the property and offered a "disgusting" view of white garbage bags, construction debris, and old furniture, which they likened to a "part of the city dump." They expressed shock at the hotel management for allowing such an eyesore. Additionally, the toilet in their initial room leaked, and while the front desk agreed to move them the next day due to no immediate availability, the subsequent "double superior" room was described as a "complete joke," being no different or even smaller than the original. The breakfast was described as edible but "nothing to write home about" and was consistently packed with insufficient space for the number of guests. The one positive aspect highlighted by this guest was that the staff was helpful, friendly, and accommodating to their needs, noting them as the "bright spot" of their experience. Despite this, the guest stated they wouldn't stay here again and would choose a different hotel for future New York visits.

In contrast, another guest, traveling with two adults and two kids, found the small rooms to have "plenty of room" for their group and luggage. They described the staff as always polite and accommodating, allowing them to store bags upon early arrival. Their room was clean, and everything was in working order. Staying on the 11th floor, they experienced no issues with elevator wait times. They also noted that the breakfast area is very small and always super busy, advising guests to be prepared for crowds, mentioning a significant wait even at 6:20 am on a weekday. The hotel is located around a 10-minute walk to the subway or Times Square, which they enjoyed, and there is a Target and other small grocery stores nearby. This guest requested and was offered a late checkout and was also offered bag storage after checkout.

We stayed here on a recent visit to NYC. Two adults and two kids. The rooms were small, but plenty of room for the four of us with suitcases and backpacks. The staff was always polite and accommodating. We arrived early and they gladly locked our bags in a storage room until time to check in. The room was clean and the everything was in working order. We were on the top floor (11th) and never had any issue waiting for an elevator - as you'll read in other reviews. The breakfast area is very small and always super busy, so be prepared. We went down for breakfast at 6:20am one weekday morning and found ~15 people already waiting. It gets crowded! The hotel is around a 10 minute walk to the subway or Times Square, which we enjoyed. There's a Target and other small grocery stores near by as well. I requested a late check out because we had a late flight and they offered a 12:30pm checkout. The front desk offered to keep our bags after checkout until our flight as well.

I had a wonderful stay at this property! It was exceptionally clean and well-maintained, which made it feel very comfortable and welcoming. The location is fantastic—just a short walk to Times Square and surrounded by great restaurants, making it easy to enjoy the vibrant city life. Additionally, the convenience of having nearby bus stops made exploring other tourist attractions a breeze. Overall, it’s a perfect spot for anyone looking to be in the heart of the action while having a clean and cozy place to return to at the end of the day.

It was really nice being there. I've stayed there for one night but it was very comfortable. The room was very clean. I didn't have an amazing view but it was really nice. For a 3 star hotel it was definitely above average. I truly recommend it

Location is in Hell's Kitchen about 15 minutes walking from Times Square. There is no subway close by so if you have alot of bags be prepared to walk about 15 -20 minutes from the subway. There was only one elevator working and took awhile to get on a elevator especially during check in and check out times. All the staff I encountered were friendly and nice especially the front desk and housekeeping. The rooms are small. I had double bed room and it was ok for two people but any more will be very cramped. The rooms are ok for a short stay. Rooms need serious updating. Carpet looks very old and if replaced would make the room look better. Breakfast is trash. Nothing good to eat. Ended up getting breakfast at a local spot each morning. Also, seating is limited. The only good thing was the all day coffee and tea provided in the lobby. This is a budget friendly hotel I would recommend for a short stay if you want to be close to Broadway, Times Square, Hells Kitchen and cruise line.
