Stayed for 3 nights, rooms are small bathroom is tiny, and lacks any hooks or shelf for your clothes or towel while you shower. Room wasn’t the cleanest, and could definitely use some maintenance touches especially in the bathroom. On our 2nd morning the fire alarm went off around 7:00 am, due to something burning in the breakfast room (toast?) not the hotels fault at all, but the front desk staff just sat behind the desk rather than assisting guests who were evacuating the building, and nothing from them when we all re-entered after the fire dept. arrived. Also at breakfast the pancake and juice machines were both broken for the last 2 days and the attendant spent her whole shift on speaker phone. Pool was nice, water was warm but you could tell it was well used by the end of the day…

May 19, 2025 · Aaron I-1 star Twelve years of loyalty—Diamond status with IHG—and what do I get? Zero consideration. I accidentally booked the wrong Holiday Inn Express, realized it right away, tried to cancel, and still got charged full price. Apparently, customer loyalty is just a cute marketing slogan now. So I reroute and land at this $313 disaster in Rochester, NY—a masterclass in price gouging. For that price, you’d expect at least basic hygiene, but nope. The bathroom looked like Harry Henderson shaved his entire body and left the fur behind as a souvenir. Food gunk on the counters like someone hosted a snack party last week. I’m convinced this room hasn’t seen a deep clean since hotels were invented. AC? Barely breathing. The bed? Felt like a whale had nested there and the foam was still recovering from the trauma. Guy at the front desk looked like he wandered out of a Geico caveman flashback. Bro—pick a room, grab a razor, and reintroduce yourself to soap. Harry can help. And just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, I got serenaded all night by baboons grunting (no inside voice)through the walls. Zero sleep. I got up early just to escape. Holiday Inn Express? More like Holiday Inn Exhausted. Never again.
May 10, 2025 · John Warren Melrose IIClean, warm, no bugs, lovely breakfast, and overall very comfortable with great amenities... This would be a 5 star review except for one thing: Single ply toilet paper; I would not wish single ply on someone slated for the death penalty. This place goes above and beyond in so many things, but misses on just this one basic necessity. I highly recommend staying here, but I also recommend you bring your own toilet paper when you do.
Feb 13, 2025 · Joe Pisano2 night stay, room very comfortable, very clean, bathroom well stocked. Breakfast, good selection and replenished constantly. Easy access to I 390 and Rochester. Staff very helpful. Good selection of restaurants within 5-10 minute drive. Highly recommend this property.
Mar 29, 2025 · David BeedieWe generally like the Holiday Inn hotel network and have had many positive stays, but unfortunately, this particular location was a letdown. Our room was on the top (4th) floor, and it was extremely difficult to relax or sleep due to constant noise. In addition to the freeway sounds, there was a persistent hum and rumbling likely coming from the HVAC system or mechanical equipment on the roof or technical floor. After the first night, I reported the issue to the front desk—no response. Later, I spoke with someone named Marcelo, explained the situation, and asked to be moved to another floor. Unfortunately, that request was also ignored. At checkout, a gentleman in a suit (possibly the manager) asked about our stay. I shared my concerns, and while he apologized, he said there wasn’t much he could do other than credit some points to my account—which he mentioned but never followed through on. I also brought up that housekeeping was vacuuming the room next to ours at 10:30 p.m., which added to the disturbance. I forgot to mention that the phone in our room didn’t work and the TV was misconfigured. To be fair, the hotel was clean (though showing some signs of age), the breakfast was decent, and the location is excellent. However, considering our overall experience, we’d likely choose a different hotel next time. Tip: If you do book here, I highly recommend avoiding the 4th floor.
