The hotel itself is very nice and done in an art deco theme to match the building. We loved having the record player and records in our room. We stayed in a king mountain view on the 1st floor but the window was so dirty it didn't provide a real clear view. I do feel that this particular room would be very difficult to clean the windows in based on the location and how old they are. The hotel is super dog friendly and we even got to take our pup with us to watch a movie at the adjoined theatre. That was such a fun experience! Make sure you check out the main theatre to, it is stunning (they have 4 different theatre rooms). I was taken aback at the amount of homeless people who had taken up residence in the lot that is joined to the hotel parking lot. There seems to be alot of drug use, I watched one main shoot up drugs in broad daylight in that lot while we were walking our dog. That was a little unsettling. There isn't much green space to walk your dog unless you go further down the street. All in all, I loved the hotel and theatre, did nor care for the town. I would not go out of my way to come back just because the town itself (not hotel) did not feel extremely safe to me

The hotel's character and attention to detail are frequently praised by guests, making it a destination in itself.
The hotel is directly adjoined to the historic Latchis Theatre, which is a multi-screen cinema, including a stunning main theater that guests describe as "breathtaking" and "stunning." This integration provides a unique entertainment option directly on-site. The overall environment within the hotel is typically quiet and refined, reflecting its historic nature. However, it is important to note a recurring concern from guest reviews regarding the immediate external environment. One review explicitly mentioned being "taken aback at the amount of homeless people who had taken up residence in the lot that is joined to the hotel parking lot," observing "alot of drug use" in broad daylight. This aspect of the surrounding town environment, while not reflecting on the hotel's interior, is a significant consideration for guests, particularly regarding a sense of safety when navigating the exterior areas, especially with pets or at night. The lack of extensive green space immediately surrounding the hotel for dog walking is also a point of feedback.
The Latchis Hotel aims to provide a personalized and comfortable stay, with a focus on unique guest experiences. Guests have highly praised the "awesome, very informative" staff who provide not only information for the stay but also "local area information."

Free self-parking is available in an adjacent lot, a valuable convenience in a downtown setting.
A significant service feature is the hotel's pet-friendly policy. The Latchis Hotel is "super dog friendly," and uniquely, allows guests to bring their pets to watch a movie in the adjoined theater, an experience highlighted as "such a fun experience." This makes it an exceptional choice for travelers with furry companions, although there are considerations about limited green space for dog walking immediately outside the hotel.
The most distinctive feature of The Latchis Hotel is its direct connection to the Latchis Theatre. This historic theater operates four different screening rooms, with the main theater being particularly grand and a popular venue for films, live performances, and community events. Guests can experience the charm of a historic cinema directly from their hotel, which is a rare and highly valued amenity.
While the hotel itself does not typically feature an on-site fitness center or swimming pool, its appeal lies in its unique character and cultural integration. The hotel offers facilities for disabled guests, with accessible rooms and common areas, though specific details on these would be available upon request. Safety measures such as electronic key access and fire safety systems are in place. The historic nature of the building also means it maintains a certain charm that modern, purpose-built hotels might lack.
The downtown location means guests have immediate access to public transport options and are within walking distance of many of Brattleboro's attractions. The hotel also serves as a hub for local events and activities, often hosting or being a central point for visitors attending local festivals and shows. The presence of a gift shop within the hotel allows guests to purchase souvenirs or local items.
The Latchis Hotel is often promoted as a unique, historic, and culturally immersive lodging experience in Brattleboro. Its Art Deco aesthetic, the attached theater, and its pet-friendly policy are key marketing points. The hotel emphasizes its charm, character, and central location as primary attractions for travelers.

Many reviews highlight the "character and things to discover," the "super fun" record player, and the "stunning" main theater. The staff consistently receives praise for being "awesome" and "very informative." Guests often mention the comfortable beds and the overall relaxing vibe of the rooms, with comments like "didn't turn on the TV once! We just listened to music and watched to fog go by on the mountain." The pet-friendly aspect, especially the ability to take dogs into the theater, is a significant draw for many. One reviewer summed it up by saying, "This is one of our favorite hotels so far. ... We will definitely be back."
However, it is important to acknowledge the concerns raised by guests regarding the immediate surrounding area, specifically the presence of homeless individuals and observed drug use in the adjacent parking lot. While guests loved the hotel itself, one reviewer stated they "did not care for the town" and "would not go out of my way to come back just because the town itself (not hotel) did not feel extremely safe to me." This feedback is crucial for prospective guests, indicating that while the hotel provides an exceptional internal experience, awareness of the external environment, especially in the parking lot area, is advisable.
In conclusion, The Latchis Hotel offers a truly distinctive and highly-rated stay for those searching on "Hotels Near Of Me" in Brattleboro. Its historic Art Deco charm, unique amenities like the record player, and the convenience of an attached cinema create a memorable experience. Apr 24, 2025 · Amanda StaggsThis is one of our favorite hotels so far. There is so much character and things to discover. We were glad to catch a show in the Main Theater too! How stunning! The staff were awesome, very informative not only for our stay experience, but for the local area information too. There was a record with old vinyls in our room which was super fun. We didn't turn on the TV once! We just listened to music and watched to fog go by on the mountain in our spare time. Thank you, Latchis! We will definitely be back.
Mar 31, 2025 · Kisha EstelowIf you like hotels with tons of character, this is it. We loved the artistic touch and next time will arrive earlier to make the movie! The rooms were clean with very high ceilings, great mattresses and furniture. I would recommend.
Mar 21, 2025 · Bill SmithSuper friendly staff, cool location, with door to the movie theater and a bar. As many historical places there's going to be some "inconveniences": hard to control temperature for example. But also many benefits, like be at the center of a very interesting twon and an historical movie theater, very unique and beautiful.
Mar 28, 2025 · Antonio TovarUPDATE: I finally got a hold of the hotel manager - Amy Goodnow - and where she blamed the online service for not showing the hotel to close at 10 pm !! (Again, a hotel that closes its doors at 10 pm it rather crazy, no ? And then blame the online service is quite lame). THE HOTEL / AMY REFUSED TO REFUND ME. Sorry Amy, is this bad review really worth not refunding the $130?? (she actually told me she takes the good with the bad - reviews that is. Crazy attitude for a general manager I find.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INITIAL POST: Made a reservation online. Received my reservation confirmation by email. This was a non-refundable reservation. I arrived 10:03 pm to check in. The doors were locked and staff was gone, and no way to check in. The front door had a note saying to use the side door, but that one was closed as well. I called the hotel (10:07 pm) but went straight to voicemail. Thus I simply had no way to check in and was 10:10 pm by now. I had to call other hotels in the area to book a room. In my confirmation email there is NO MENTION OF HAVING TO CHECK IN BEFORE 10 PM. Besides that, what hotel closes its doors at 10 PM ?? That's like a restaurant closing for lunch to give its staff a lunchbreak... go figure. I emailed both the hotel as well as the online reservation service (Hotels in America). Got NO REPLY FROM HOTEL, got reply from Hotels in America stating that if the hotel approves the cancellation, they will refund. I didn't cancel my reservation, I was at the hotel, unfortunately just minutes after they closed. POOREST SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN. I really support small businesses as I own a small business, but I take care of every single customer, and ask from my staff to take care of every customer. This, on the contrary, is the hotel totally disregarding its customer - as said, they have not even responded ! This was for a stay on 3/11 and today is 3/23 - almost 2 weeks after, so they had plenty of time to respond and I waited to hear back before even posting this.
