when we got there, we waited outside after pressing the bell for a while until calling. an annoyed man answered the phone and just told us to look in the lockbox to get our key. absolutely zero security lol. room was clean-ISH. dust everywhere, didn’t vacuum corners, bathroom walls stained. luckily we got okay beds, they were comfortable, a bit itchy. there were people running around outside 1-3am and they were yelling and kept slamming doors. they also left our window open when we arrived so this was much louder than it should’ve been. luckily we noticed after a while. breakfast is watery coffee, stale bagels, and some cereal with whole milk. didn’t eat there.

The Covered Bridge Inn Introduce

For local users searching on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform in the Brattleboro, Vermont area, The Covered Bridge Inn, situated at 1043 Putney Rd, Brattleboro, VT 05301, USA, presents itself as a budget-friendly accommodation option. This inn aims to provide basic lodging for travelers seeking an economical stay in the region. You can reach the inn by phone at (802) 254-8889 or via mobile at +1 802-254-8889.

The Covered Bridge Inn is located on Putney Road, a main artery in Brattleboro, offering convenient access to Interstate 91. This makes it accessible for travelers passing through Vermont or those looking for a base to explore the area. The inn is relatively close to downtown Brattleboro, which is known for its arts scene, independent shops, and local attractions. Guests can explore points of interest such as the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center, Fort Dummer State Park, and enjoy the natural beauty of the Connecticut River Valley, including opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities. Several local dining establishments are also within a reasonable driving distance.

Environment and Ambiance

As a budget-oriented inn, The Covered Bridge Inn typically focuses on providing simple and functional accommodations. The property was built in 1957, which indicates its age. While it may have undergone renovations over time, some aspects of its original construction or maintenance levels might be apparent. The inn generally features a motel-style layout, with direct access to rooms from exterior corridors. This design can sometimes influence the perceived ambiance, offering a more utilitarian rather than a luxurious feel.

The inn offers free self-parking on-site, which is a convenient amenity for guests traveling by car. There is also a picnic area, providing a casual outdoor space. However, it is crucial for potential guests to be aware of the highly concerning feedback from past customers regarding the hotel's environment and cleanliness. Reviews have described the rooms as "clean-ISH," with "dust everywhere," "didn't vacuum corners," and "bathroom walls stained." There are also mentions of a "mildewy" smell in rooms. Furthermore, concerns about noise from other guests ("people running around outside 1-3am and they were yelling and kept slamming doors") and security ("absolutely zero security lol" due to key retrieval from a lockbox without direct interaction) have been raised. These comments suggest that the actual condition and atmosphere may significantly deviate from standard expectations for even a budget hotel, potentially impacting the overall guest experience.

Services and Amenities

The Covered Bridge Inn offers a selection of basic services and amenities intended to meet the fundamental needs of budget travelers. While a 24-hour front desk is typically a standard for hotels, one review mentions a delayed response to a bell and instruction to retrieve keys from a lockbox, suggesting a potentially limited in-person front desk presence at certain times. Complimentary Wi-Fi is generally available in rooms, allowing guests to stay connected for basic needs.

In-room amenities typically include a flat-screen TV and air conditioning. Private bathrooms are usually equipped with a shower/tub combination. Some rooms may offer a microwave and mini-fridge, which are useful for storing food and beverages. However, regarding breakfast, one reviewer described it as "watery coffee, stale bagels, and some cereal with whole milk," indicating a very basic and potentially unappetizing offering. This suggests that while a complimentary breakfast might be available, its quality may not meet all guest expectations.

The inn is pet-friendly, allowing pets for an additional charge. This feature is beneficial for travelers who wish to bring their animal companions. Children under a certain age may stay free with an adult, making it a potentially cost-effective option for families, though the overall environment and amenities might not be ideal for all family types.

Features and Facilities

Beyond the core services, The Covered Bridge Inn's features are designed to be straightforward and practical. It offers free self-parking, which is a significant convenience. While there is no mention of extensive recreational facilities like pools or fitness centers, the focus is on providing a place to rest. The property may offer accessible rooms, though specific details on the extent of accessibility features are not widely available. Vending machines are typically present for quick snacks and drinks.

Security is a notable concern based on customer feedback, particularly the "zero security" comment regarding key retrieval and the reported noise from other guests. Health and safety measures typically implemented by hotels (e.g., daily disinfection) are generally expected, but specific details or their consistent application at this property are not explicitly available or may be contradicted by guest experiences. The inn's location offers reasonable access to local attractions and dining, as it is situated on a main road.

Promotional Information and Guest Experience

The Covered Bridge Inn likely promotes itself as an affordable and conveniently located option for travelers in Brattleboro. Its appeal would be primarily to those seeking the lowest possible price point for a night's stay. However, the available customer reviews present a stark and concerning picture of the actual guest experience. These highly negative reviews must be carefully considered by prospective guests.

One reviewer's experience included waiting outside for an extended period, being met by an "annoyed man" who directed them to a lockbox for a key (raising "zero security" concerns). The room itself was described as "clean-ISH," with "dust everywhere," "didn’t vacuum corners," and "bathroom walls stained." This guest also reported significant noise disturbances from other guests "running around outside 1-3am and they were yelling and kept slamming doors." Another reviewer described the room as "not very clean," with "stains on the bed sheets," and a "pretty mildewy" smell, unequivocally stating they "will not be staying again."

These severe criticisms regarding cleanliness, security, noise levels, and overall management responsiveness indicate that the inn may not consistently meet even basic expectations for comfort and safety. While the inn offers an economical price point, the trade-offs, according to these reviews, appear to be significant. For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" and prioritizing a very low cost, The Covered Bridge Inn might appear as an option. However, based on the highly critical and alarming public feedback, potential guests are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and consider these reported issues before making a booking, especially concerning personal comfort, safety, and a restful night's sleep.

Stayed for 2 nights and will not be staying again. The room was not very clean, I had to wipe down the toilet when I got there, there were stains on the bed sheets, and the room smelled pretty mildewy.

I’m pretty sure I got bedbugs from this place. Also, the room was not clean to hotel standards. Dusty, spiderwebs, stains on sheets, smelled like cigarettes covered up by mint(?), and someone’s leftover facial hair behind the sink and on the bathroom floor. I do not recommend. I wish I had not stayed here.

This motel is currently housing homeless individuals, instead of being grateful, they run through the hallways intoxicated all night disrupting paying customers, Police were here at midnight addressing whatever issues they are causing. Office moved me to another room due to my noise complaints and 2nd room had dirty linen I used before noticing, major heebie jeebies , now a fire alarm is chirping in the hallway but Office is tired of me ( they hung up on me)so I will just have to tolerate . VT needs to find solutions to house their homeless and stop inflicting it on hotels/ motels. Can't wait to leave in the morning. Feel unsafe and worried about my property. My 2nd time staying here and definitely my last. UPDATE: Booking.com refuses a partial reimbursement that I asked for. Booking.com and motel should have disclosed that they are operating as a homeless shelter.

Staying here was certainly a unique experience. The location was convenient for my needs, which was a plus. The room itself was fine, it was clean and had wooden floors which I always appreciate. There are definitely some local folks living there, which didn’t bother me- they were all polite and friendly but did stand right outside the door chain smoking- which may be a deal breaker for some. The AC was super cold, the continental breakfast was fine. Big drawback: the area is not the greatest, which normally wouldn’t bother me, except two hours after check in there were two police officers knocking at the door looking for someone. This was distressing because as a woman traveling alone with two teenage sons, I’m extra cautious about our surroundings. I won’t blame the hotel for this, because the staff I spoke to stated the police were looking everywhere for this person (even another hotel up the block) Just be cautious and aware, lock your vehicle, and enjoy your sleep in the double bed (it’s definitely not a Queen) because the price really isn’t bad at all if you’re passing through town like we were.
