The short story is I booked The Bohemian Loft on AirBnb for a Bachelorette Party. Wade at Epic Stork reached out to me to do a deal under the table (which is against AirBnb policy might I add). I was extremely uncomfortable and thought it was a scam, but after some coaxing, I ended up canceling my AirBnb reservation and contracting directly with Epic Stork for no other reason than to save our group ~$1K in lodging costs. Fast forward to bachelorette party weekend and hours before we were meant to check in to The Bohemian Loft, Wade texts me to tell me there’s a carbon monoxide leak at the property and it is not safe to stay there. So here I am, with 10 women in New Orleans over a holiday weekend without a place to stay. We ended up booking one of the only AirBnbs available at the last minute that was near double the price. Epic Stork refunded me immediately and after days of back and forth agreed to accommodate my request to fund the difference in price between the two properties. What the short story doesn’t tell you is how excruciating and unprofessional dealing with Wade was for the ~8 months we interacted on and off. First of all, texting was his main form of communication. The most notable example is that Wade sent me a contract agreement via text in PDF form - who does that? On the day of check-in, I still had not received any communication with check in instructions. If I needed something, I always had to be the one to reach out and ask. There was no proactive communication whatsoever. During and immediately following the carbon monoxide debacle, I can’t tell you how many times I called Wade and he responded immediately via text with “I’m in a meeting,” or “I’m at the doctor,” or “I’m dealing with a family emergency,” - maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, but by that point I didn’t believe a word he said. This guy really did not want to talk to me on the phone! Despite the final and fair outcome, the communication was so exasperating, I am only left with wholehearted disdain for this company. Epic Stork is run by young, immature, unprofessional young adults and I advise you save yourself the headache and steer clear of their businesses and their properties. UPDATE: I spoke with the owner of Epic Stork on the phone and they took immediate action to rectify the situation and ensure the experience I had won't happen to anyone else. My experience was directly tied to one bad actor at the company and should not reflect Epic Stork as a whole. If/when I return to New Orleans I will consider giving Epic Stork a second chance.
Howdy, Louisiana folks! When it comes to experiencing the authentic spirit of New Orleans, especially with a group of friends or family, finding the right accommodation is paramount. You want space, convenience, and a touch of that unique NOLA charm. Today, we’re delving into the Magazine Street Loft, a property managed by Epic Stork, designed to offer a vibrant and spacious base right in the heart of Uptown.
The Magazine Street Loft aims to blend historic New Orleans architecture with modern comforts, providing ample room for larger groups to gather and relax. Situated on one of the city's most beloved thoroughfares, it offers an immersive experience into the local lifestyle, with easy access to unique shops, renowned eateries, and the vibrant culture of Magazine Street. While it promises an exciting stay, it's essential to understand its offerings and the booking process to ensure it aligns perfectly with your group's needs and expectations.
Magazine Street Loft is located at 1030 Toledano St, New Orleans, LA 70115, USA. This address places it in the desirable Uptown neighborhood, just steps away from the iconic Magazine Street. For locals, the significance of this location is immediate: Magazine Street is a six-mile stretch renowned for its unique, locally-owned boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, cafes, and diverse restaurants. It offers a more neighborhood-centric experience compared to the bustling French Quarter, allowing guests to truly "live like a local."
The property's proximity to Magazine Street means you are within walking distance to dozens of nationally recognized restaurants, including several James Beard award winners, as well as multiple coffee shops, bars, and fascinating shopping opportunities. The area boasts constant foot traffic, indicating a lively and engaging environment.
For wider city exploration, the location offers good accessibility. While not directly on a streetcar line, the St. Charles Avenue streetcar, which runs through the Garden District and connects to downtown and the French Quarter, is generally just a few blocks away (e.g., the St Charles at Josephine stop is a 9-minute walk from Magazine Street). Bus lines (like the 11 and 91) also service Magazine Street, offering further public transportation options.
For those driving, the property often notes the availability of free street parking in the vicinity, a valuable asset in New Orleans. Important landmarks like the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (0.8 miles), the French Quarter (1.4 miles), the Caesars Superdome (1.6 miles), and the National WWII Museum (0.7 miles) are all within a short drive, or a reasonable walk/public transport ride, depending on your preferences. The easy access to downtown and the major tourist hotspots makes this an ideal base for experiencing all that New Orleans has to offer.
Magazine Street Loft, as a vacation rental property, provides a range of amenities designed for self-sufficiency and comfort, particularly for larger groups.
Full Kitchen: The loft boasts an "expansive kitchen with state of the art appliances and refined finishes," including an oven, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker (12-cup and French press), blender, and toaster. It's fully equipped with essential cookware, an abundance of cabinets, and custom wood counter space, making it ideal for preparing meals for a group.
In-Unit Laundry: Guests have access to "in-unit laundry" facilities, including a washer and dryer, a significant convenience for longer stays or for refreshing clothes after exploring the city.
High-Speed Internet: Complimentary "high-speed internet" (often noted as fast WiFi) is available, crucial for staying connected and planning activities.
Smart TV and Entertainment: The living area features a "65'' HDTV" and a Smart TV with an Apple TV, allowing guests to connect to streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. Some listings also mention Sonos Speakers for an enhanced audio experience.
Air Conditioning: Essential for comfort in New Orleans' climate, the loft is equipped with air conditioning.
Linens and Essential Toiletries: All bathrooms feature beautiful tile work, quartz countertops, and "essential toiletries." Bedding and towels are provided.
Self Check-in: The property often utilizes smart locks for self check-in, offering flexibility upon arrival.
Pets Allowed (with conditions): Some listings for properties managed by Epic Stork indicate that they are pet-friendly, though specific fees and restrictions (like breed and weight limits, and one-time fees/deposits) apply. It's crucial to confirm the pet policy directly upon booking.
Parking: Free street parking is often available around properties in this area, which is a valuable amenity in New Orleans.
The Magazine Street Loft distinguishes itself with several key features that enhance the group travel experience and highlight its unique charm.
Spacious Layout for Large Groups: With multiple bedrooms (e.g., four bedrooms, accommodating up to 14 guests), a "recently renovated 2,000 SF loft," it's "perfect for families, friends, or business travelers" needing ample space. The "open concept kitchen and living room designed for entertaining larger groups" is a major plus.
Unique Entertainment Features: The living area often includes a "pool/ping pong table" and a "disco ball and party lights," adding a fun, social element to your stay. A "custom 10' Cypress Bar" may also be present.
Authentic New Orleans Charm: The loft boasts "exposed brick walls, 11' ceilings, and plenty of storage and tons of authentic New Orleans charm," blending historic details with modern renovations.
Comfortable Beds: Properties managed by Epic Stork often emphasize "memory foam beds" and "extremely comfortable beds," ensuring a restful night's sleep.
Walk-in Showers: Bathrooms feature "walk in-showers" and "oversized glass showers with tons of natural light," providing a luxurious feel.
Private Balcony: At least one listing for a Magazine Street Loft highlights a "huge balcony," offering an outdoor space to enjoy the neighborhood's ambiance.
Dedicated Workspace: "Desks in three of the bedrooms that are perfect for remote working" cater to guests who need to stay productive during their travels.
Controlled Access and Noise Monitoring: While not always detailed for individual units, some properties in the area mention controlled access for security and noise monitoring devices to ensure quiet hours are respected, particularly for larger groups.
As a vacation rental (likely operating through platforms like Airbnb, Stayz, or direct booking with property management), Magazine Street Loft's promotions tend to be dynamic and less standardized than traditional hotels. However, here's how you might find potential savings or special offers:
Direct Booking with Epic Stork: While one review mentioned issues with "under the table" deals, contacting the property manager, Epic Stork, directly via phone at (504) 636-8764 or their official channels might sometimes yield better rates, especially for longer stays or specific dates, outside of the standard platform fees.
Online Travel Agencies (OTAs): Check platforms like Airbnb, Stayz (Australia's equivalent of VRBO/HomeAway), and Booking.com. These sites often have their own seasonal discounts, last-minute deals, or host-initiated promotions.
Weekly/Monthly Discounts: Many vacation rentals offer reduced nightly rates for "weekly" or "monthly" bookings, which can be significant for extended stays.
Off-Peak Season: Prices for vacation rentals in New Orleans are highly seasonal. Visiting during less popular times (e.g., late summer, early fall outside of major festivals) could result in lower rates.
Group Bookings: While the property is already suited for large groups, sometimes direct inquiry for very large groups or specific event bookings might lead to customized pricing.
Given the past feedback, it's highly advisable to ensure all booking details, communication, and financial agreements are clear, written, and confirmed well in advance, regardless of the platform used. Confirming check-in instructions and contact procedures proactively is also recommended.
For inquiries, bookings, or further information regarding the Magazine Street Loft, you would typically contact the property management company, Epic Stork.

Website: As a vacation rental, "Magazine Street Loft" itself might not have a standalone website. Instead, you would typically find its listings on major vacation rental platforms (like Airbnb, VRBO, Stayz) or potentially through the website of its managing company, Epic Stork. Searching for "Magazine Street Loft New Orleans" along with "Epic Stork" should lead you to current listings and booking options.
For us Louisianans, the Magazine Street Loft, managed by Epic Stork, offers a compelling option for a New Orleans stay, particularly when you're thinking about group travel or an immersive local experience for yourself and your loved ones.
Its prime location on Magazine Street is a huge draw. Locals understand that this street embodies a different, yet equally vibrant, facet of New Orleans life compared to the French Quarter. It's where you find authentic local businesses, unique shopping, and an incredible array of dining experiences, from casual cafes to upscale restaurants. For a local staycation, or for hosting out-of-state friends and family who want to "live like a local," this proximity to Magazine Street's charm is invaluable. You're not just visiting; you're truly part of the neighborhood.
The spaciousness and amenities designed for groups are another key factor. Whether it's a bachelorette party, a family reunion, or a gathering of friends for a festival, having a full kitchen, multiple bedrooms, and common areas with entertainment options like a pool table creates a comfortable and engaging environment. This allows for shared meals, late-night conversations, and a sense of togetherness that traditional hotel rooms can't always provide. The in-unit laundry is a practical addition that locals, especially those with kids, will appreciate for longer stays.
While one past review highlighted communication challenges with a specific individual, the update indicated that Epic Stork's ownership took "immediate action to rectify the situation," demonstrating a commitment to guest satisfaction. This proactive approach to addressing concerns should instill confidence for future bookings. For locals who value responsive management, this is a crucial detail.
In summary, if you're looking for a stylish, spacious, and well-equipped base for a group visit to New Orleans, with the added benefit of being steps away from the unique cultural tapestry of Magazine Street, the Magazine Street Loft presents a strong case. It offers a true taste of local living, perfect for making lasting memories right here in our beloved city.
