My husband and I stayed for 3 nights, and I have to say this location is PERFECT! It is right in the middle of everything, so it's easy to walk somewhere or just jet over to the train station. There's a cute little sitting area next to the building, just a little garden that gives it the perfect little charm. I loved that the bathroom had heated floors, and I loved sitting in front of the floor to ceiling windows. The only annoying thing is that the TV is angled not towards anything and doesn't swivel. But really, just go out and see Boston!

Maverick Suites Introduce

Maverick Suites, located at 40 Temple St, Boston, MA 02114, USA, presents a unique accommodation option for local users and visitors exploring Boston under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category. Unlike traditional hotels, Maverick Suites operates as an aparthotel, offering independent, apartment-style living. Guests can reach them via phone at (877) 795-4387 or mobile at +1 877-795-4387. This property caters to travelers who prefer the flexibility and amenities of a private residence, often for short to medium-term stays, within Boston's vibrant city center.

Environment and Location: Steps from Boston's Iconic Landmarks
The most significant advantage of Maverick Suites at 40 Temple St is its "PERFECT" and "unbeatable" location in the heart of Boston. Situated in the historic Beacon Hill neighborhood, the property is "right in the middle of everything," offering unparalleled walkability to many of Boston's most famous attractions. Guests can easily walk to Boston Common (approximately 10-11 minutes), the Massachusetts State House, and the start of the Freedom Trail.

For sports and entertainment, TD Garden is also within easy reach, about a 9-minute walk away. Other notable landmarks within a short walking distance include Massachusetts General Hospital (5-6 minutes), Faneuil Hall Marketplace (10-12 minutes), and the New England Aquarium (15-17 minutes). The convenience extends to public transportation, with Bowdoin Station (Blue Line) just a 3-minute walk away and Park Street Station (Red and Green Lines) about 7 minutes by foot, making it effortless to "jet over to the train station" and explore the wider city.

The building itself is a multi-story structure typical of Boston's historic architecture, though the interior design aims for a modern, refreshed feel. A "cute little sitting area next to the building, just a little garden," adds a charming touch to the exterior. While the property aims for a pleasant aesthetic, some reviews note potential inconsistencies in cleanliness ("floors were much more dirty than the images") and discrepancies between actual rooms and online photos, suggesting that guests should manage expectations regarding the overall upkeep and visual presentation. The property operates as an unstaffed aparthotel, meaning there is no traditional front desk, and access is via keypads and access codes, which can present initial challenges for some guests if not clearly communicated or if technical issues arise.

Services and Features: Self-Sufficient Living with Essential Comforts
Maverick Suites specializes in providing apartment-style accommodations, prioritizing independence and self-sufficiency over traditional hotel services like a staffed front desk or daily housekeeping. The focus is on offering a functional living space with core amenities:

  • Kitchenettes: Each unit includes a kitchenette equipped with a stovetop, microwave, mini-fridge, coffee/tea maker, toaster, and essential cookware, dishes, and utensils. This feature is highly valued by guests who prefer to prepare their own meals.
  • Private Bathrooms: All units come with private bathrooms, often featuring amenities like heated floors (as highlighted by one guest), showers, hair dryers, and complimentary toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, makeup wipes).
  • In-Room Comforts: Apartments are air-conditioned and heated, ensuring comfort regardless of the season. They also include free high-speed wireless internet (Wi-Fi), flat-screen TVs (though one review noted the TV angle as inconvenient and not swiveling), and iron/ironing boards. Some units may feature floor-to-ceiling windows, offering natural light.
  • Laundry Facilities: Self-serve, coin-operated laundry facilities are available on-site, a significant convenience for longer stays. Guests are advised to bring their own detergent.
  • No On-Site Staff: It's important to note that Maverick Suites operates without a 24-hour on-site staff. Check-in is a no-contact process, with guests receiving access codes via email after completing online registration and providing a copy of their government-issued photo ID. While a "concierge team is available for calls and replies online," and after-hours calls are directed to an emergency answering service, this self-service model may not suit all travelers.
  • No On-Site Parking: Parking is not provided at this location, which is typical for central Boston properties. Guests are encouraged to use public transportation or be prepared to utilize paid off-site parking options.

The property consists of 14 smoke-free apartments. While the units are described as "individually decorated" and "individually furnished," the specific amenities and layout may vary slightly between units. For instance, some units might have detached private bathrooms.

Promotional Information and Guest Experience: Mixed Reviews, High Potential
Maverick Suites primarily promotes its prime location and apartment-style living as its core value proposition. For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me" specifically looking for a self-sufficient stay in a historical part of Boston, these suites are designed to be a fitting option.

However, guest reviews reveal a mixed experience that prospective visitors should consider. While the location is consistently praised as "PERFECT" and "great," and specific room features like heated bathroom floors and large windows are appreciated, there are significant concerns regarding service and overall property condition.

One guest had a very negative experience with the "service team," describing them as "unhelpful" and "difficult to deal with," feeling that "Management and the entire property team only care about money." This review highlights a lack of accommodation regarding emergency situations and strict adherence to cancellation policies, which can be a point of friction for guests facing unforeseen circumstances. Another highly critical review strongly advises "DO NOT BOOK HERE," citing discrepancies between room photos and reality, with "floors much more dirty than the images" and the bed not matching the description. Issues like noisy climate control units and dripping AC units in unstaffed buildings have also been mentioned.

Despite these criticisms, some guests have had "amazing" stays, emphasizing the "practical magic" vibes and the overall comfort. The self-check-in process is convenient for those who prefer it, but it also means less direct support when issues arise.

In summary, Maverick Suites at 40 Temple St offers a compelling location for exploring Boston. Its apartment-style setup with kitchenettes and laundry facilities can be ideal for independent travelers or those on longer visits. However, potential guests should be aware of the unstaffed nature of the property and the varied experiences reported by past guests, particularly concerning customer service and the condition of the rooms, ensuring their expectations align with this unique aparthotel model.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. I had an emergency come up during my stay here and the service team was so unhelpful. Not only were they difficult to deal with, but they didn't even care. Management and the entire property team only care about money, as it goes when dealing with people in property these days. They were extremely unaccommodating, and they wouldn't even let me change everything like finding a different time to book because of their "policy" We were in the room for maybe five minutes and it was not as the pictures described. The floors were much more dirty than the images and the bed was not as described. Avoid at all costs and I am not one person to do this i.e. leaving a bad review.

Stayed in apartment 4 for 2 days and we were satisfied with everything. Location is good, park and station are nearby. There is an A/C, everything was working perfectly, it was warm in the apartment, they provided shampoo, condition, soap, coffee. Maybe a bottle of water would be useful as well, but not critical. Seamless checkin and checkout are very comfortable. A bit noisy outside because of the cars (4th apt is on the first floor), but nothing to do with the apartment itself, I would say.

We stayed at apartment #14, we don't know how the rest of the apartments are. We're not very tall people, but the apartment is built in such a way that effectively most of the space is unusable, unless you hunch down to avoid the sloped ceiling. The bathroom is not that small, but arranged in such a way that every movement you take you will surely touch the toilet seat. The light switch is hidden behind the door - which is very hard to maneuver around (since it's almost touching the toilet as well). The bathroom door doesn't allow for a lot of privacy as the opaque window is too transparent. The TV is partially blocked by the kitchen cabinet, and the other half blocks the bathroom door. So as you avoid hitting your head on the ceiling you're likely to get hit by the TV. The provided towels didn't seem very clean. And in general there was a moldy sense to the room (very humid although the window/bathroom vent were always open/on, and some spots on the bathroom ceiling). The bed is very loud and springy, making it impossible to move without waking your partner. The location is pretty good, but not as close to the subway as we thought, the area is quite hilly. In general leaving/entering is something you think about twice since there are about 50 super cramped and spiraling stairs to reach the apartment. Getting from the front entrance to the apartment with the suitcases was a scary and tiring experience. We had a few communications troubles with the hotel staff, probably because Agoda edited out the URLs from their messages. And there's no one on-location, but luckily we managed to resolve those issues prior to arrival. The WiFi was great, connecting was a bit buggy but after we connected the speed and stability were great.

Well kept place to stay for a business traveler. The bathrooms are clean, the kitchenette has some amenities to make a decent meal and the bed is comfortable. It's a nice location close to the Boston Commons and a few blocks from the Charles River for anyone who wants to go for a run. Communication with the management is impeccable.
