The pool area is awesome, there are comfortable spots to lounge in the sun or get a little shade inside these little partially enclosed booths they have poolside. And I really appreciated the fellow who was working the front desk when I checked in, T.J. He really went above and beyond to resolve any issue that arose quickly and efficiently and made my visit a stress-free, enjoyable experience. I'd stay here again.

It aims to provide a comfortable base for exploring, with amenities designed to offer relaxation and convenience after a day of New Orleans adventures.

While some past guest experiences have highlighted areas for improvement regarding room conditions, such as cleanliness and maintenance issues, it's important to note the consistent praise for the hotel's staff. Guests frequently commend the front desk team for their exceptional friendliness, humor, and willingness to go "above and beyond" to resolve issues quickly and efficiently, ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable experience. This dedication to customer service is a significant highlight, shaping a welcoming atmosphere that can greatly enhance a stay. The inviting lobby and the standout pool area also receive positive mentions, indicating appealing communal spaces for guests to enjoy.

Location and Accessibility

The Midtown Hotel New Orleans is strategically situated at 3900 Tulane Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119, USA. This location places it in a dynamic part of the city, offering both accessibility to major thoroughfares and proximity to key New Orleans destinations. Tulane Avenue is a significant artery that connects various neighborhoods, providing relatively easy access to different parts of the city.

From the hotel, you'll find yourself conveniently located for exploring many of New Orleans' iconic attractions. The historic French Quarter, with its lively streets, world-renowned restaurants, and vibrant music scene, is just a short drive away. Major cultural institutions, such as the National WWII Museum, Audubon Park, and the Garden District, are also within a reasonable distance, making the hotel a practical base for sightseeing.

For those traveling by car, the hotel's position on Tulane Avenue offers good connectivity to Interstate 10, facilitating travel into and out of the city. This accessibility makes it a sensible choice for both local Louisiana residents driving in and out-of-state visitors. Public transportation options, including bus lines, are also likely available along Tulane Avenue, providing additional ways to navigate the city without a car. Its location strikes a balance, offering a slightly quieter setting than the immediate downtown area while remaining incredibly well-connected to all the action.

Features / Highlights

Beyond the essential services, the Midtown Hotel New Orleans boasts several features that contribute to a more enjoyable and relaxing experience for its guests.

  • Awesome Pool Area: This is a significant highlight for many guests. The pool area is described as "awesome," offering comfortable spots to lounge in the sun or find shade in partially enclosed booths. It's a fantastic amenity for unwinding after a day of sightseeing, especially in New Orleans' warm climate.

  • Inviting Lobby Area: The hotel's lobby is noted as "really nice," providing a pleasant and welcoming space for guests to gather, relax, or wait. This communal area sets a positive first impression.

  • Comfortable Beds: Despite some other room concerns, guests have specifically mentioned the beds being "soft and comfortable," which is crucial for a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring.

  • Exceptional Staff Interaction: The most consistent and glowing highlight is the staff. Reviews frequently mention individuals like "T.J." at the front desk, described as a "ray of sunshine," "very friendly, funny and helpful," and someone who "went above and beyond" to ensure a stress-free visit. This level of dedicated service can significantly elevate the guest experience.

  • Convenient Location for City Access: While not in the immediate French Quarter, its Tulane Avenue address provides excellent access to major attractions and thoroughfares, allowing guests to easily navigate the city while benefiting from a potentially quieter base.

It's important for potential guests to consider the feedback regarding room conditions, which some reviews indicate can be inconsistent, with mentions of strong smells, dampness, and maintenance issues in some rooms. However, the strong positive comments about the staff and the attractive public areas, particularly the pool, suggest that the hotel's strengths lie in its service and amenities outside of the individual rooms.

The gentleman at the front desk was a ray of sunshine. He was very friendly, funny and helpful. The lobby area is also really nice. But the rooms were pretty bad.. we got a room overlooking the street. Our view was a bunch of homeless people, high on and dealing drugs. Our beds were soft and comfortable but I don't think the sheets were changed. Found a few hairs under the covers. I slept on top of the blanket. The bathroom door didn't close all the way and the toilet wouldn't stop running, even after trying to fix it. The ceiling above the shower had water damage and the shower head was covered in mildew. One wash cloth had a little black hair on it. Also thought it was weird that the walls had zero artwork and there was no decor whatsoever. The room smelt strongly of mold, there was thick condensation on the toilet and the sheets were damp (that was a new experience, I thought it may have just been my imagination but they were definitely damp). Overall, it wasn't HORRIBLE. But I wouldn't stay here again.

If I could leave no stars i would. The lobby is nice but once you step on to the elevator it's like stepping into the twilight zone. From decent to crumy all at once. The room doors are all peeling They don't vacuum the halls or the rooms. They have old ac thermostats in the rooms with a turning nob. Ours did not work at all. Tv only played one channel the remote only controls power and volume. The bed is OK about the only thing that was but we still brought a sheet to put over it. Hair on towels so we did not use them Didn't shower there either Didn't trust the bathroom. No fridge or microwave. The pool looks OK at night. But the morning light reveals all. Green water and dirt at the bottom. Jacuzzi full of gross brown water. I love to swim but wouldn't swim here if it was 200 degrees outside.

The front desk staff were super friendly and easy to chat with!! Howeverrrrr….. the rooms were not the cleanest. The floor was disgusting and it didn’t seem like it had been mopped in at least a week. My socks and feet turned black from walking from the bed to the bathroom. Further, the lights were flickering like crazy, I thought I was gonna have a seizure. The housekeepers were my least favorite part. They came into our room when we had the “do not disturb” sign on, but that was the least of it. We got woken up at 9am to them knocking on the door when check out is at 11. Then, they came in while we were still in the room and not wearing pants!! Did not knock or announce themselves or anything, just came right in!! Lastly, the jacuzzi was freezing cold :(

Theres no microwave or fridge so takeout goes bad fast/no leftovers. The room itself had random gross stuff like cigaret burns on the toilet seat, and a good 2 inch gap between the bathroom boards and the floor where it was very moldy. The blankets were really uncomfortable. And the shower didn't get warm. In terms of issues we ran into: When we arrived the tub didn't drain, that got fixed after a few hours. Then our keys stopped working and had to get them recorded. Next at 2 am the fire alarm in our rooms started going off every fifteen minutes. After about an hour we managed to get transfered to a different room After switching to a different room the new tub has no way to fill (the levers do nothing) The door is peeling and fraying, the peep hole is poked out, and the door unlocks intermittently. The elevator only goes 4 floors but is so slow it's way faster to take the stairs (even the staff avoided it while we were here) This was almost 200 dollars a night near mardis gras, about 70 on other nights.
