Our stay was great! Staff was always pleasant and available to assist if we needed anything. The room was quiet and spacious and seating was comfortable. We had a private balcony that overlooked the pool courtyard and even that was quiet despite being a 2 minute walk from Bourbon St. The bathroom was well-appointed and shower was huge with 4 shower heads. The only thing we really had issues with was how firm the bed was, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for everyone. We just prefer a softer mattress. Location was fantastic as well and within walking distance of just about everything. Frenchman Street was the furthest walk (about 15 minutes if you aren't distracted), but still very doable. Overall we highly recommend the Olivier House to couples looking for a nice getaway.

Location and Accessibility

The Olivier House Hotel boasts an incredibly desirable location at 828 Toulouse St, New Orleans, LA 70112, USA. For us Louisiana residents, this address means you're right in the heart of the French Quarter, providing exceptional accessibility to everything that makes New Orleans so special. The hotel proudly states it's "just one block from the center of Bourbon Street," which is a huge draw for those wanting to experience the famous nightlife. What's more remarkable, as a guest review pointed out, is that despite this close proximity, rooms, even those with private balconies overlooking the pool courtyard, remain "quiet." This allows you to easily dive into the excitement of Bourbon Street and then retreat to a peaceful sanctuary.

Beyond Bourbon Street, the hotel’s location places almost every major French Quarter attraction within easy walking distance. You can take a leisurely stroll to Jackson Square, soak in the artistic atmosphere, and visit the iconic St. Louis Cathedral. The historic French Market, perfect for exploring local goods and street food, is also nearby. For those interested in music beyond Bourbon Street, the vibrant live music scene of Frenchman Street is also very accessible, described by one reviewer as "the furthest walk (about 15 minutes if you aren't distracted), but still very doable." This means you can enjoy the authentic New Orleans jazz and blues without needing a taxi.

Other key attractions like the historic New Orleans Collection and Preservation Hall are within close proximity. The hotel is conveniently located at the corner of Dauphine and Toulouse Streets, making it easy to navigate the Quarter on foot. For those arriving by car, valet parking is available (for a fee), which is a significant convenience in the French Quarter where parking can be a challenge. My husband and I recently stayed at Olivier House Hotel for Jazz Fest 2025, and it was truly an amazing experience!! The hotel is so incredibly beautiful and all of the little extra touches were perfect while preserving the spirit of the original home. John was so gracious and helpful, as well as the rest of the staff! All of the little things we didn’t think we needed, they had for us like rain ponchos and umbrellas for the festival, and the front desk staff made us lattes in the morning! They were so accommodating, generous, and truly kind and we don’t know that we will ever stay anywhere else ever again! And the rooms… don’t even get me started… each one different with their own style and charm! Absolutely stunning! I can’t say enough about this gem!! A completely different and unique experience than staying in a luxury chain hotel, and we were so incredibly pleased with The Olivier House! We will be back, without a doubt! Soooo many exclamation points but that’s how in love with it we were.❤️

My husband and I adore this place. John and Ian are incredible hosts who make every stay feel personal and memorable. We always leave with new friends, and the coffee bar by the entrance is the perfect touch—it’s such a welcoming way to start and end your day. If you’re lucky, you might even catch some live music in the lobby from fellow guests—it’s that kind of magical. The building, rooms, and shared spaces are clean, full of antique charm, and uniquely decorated. Every corner tells a story. And we can’t forget the four-legged staff members—sweet, friendly cats that roam the common areas like they own the place (because they kind of do). Olivier House is always a special experience for us. Can’t wait to come back. —Reagan & Bill Cox

Just fantastic. My son and his friend stayed in room 305, a large suite with two beds, a living room and balcony. . I stayed in 405, so charming also with a balcony. Both were filled with antiques and spotlessly clean. There is always someone knowledgeable and friendly at the front desk. Great gathering spots on the main floor with water, coffee and snacks. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone going to New Orleans. It is not your cookie cutter, corporate, boring hotel. HALLELUJAH!!

I love this place so much. I have not stayed there since 2003 because (a) I lived in New Orleans and (b) had family/friends to stay with when I visited. The staff and management were very accommodating. The location is too close to Bourbon Street for my liking, but that’s objectively a very good location. Very laid back place, with coffee, water, and snacks in the lobby. Lots of nooks and crannies, courtyards, plants, interesting decor, and 2 cats. 🩷💜🩷
