Late check in after driving from SC to Pennsylvania looking forward to a hot shower and sleep..What was disturbing... I had reservations at this hotel once before several years ago thru Booking.com while visiting Pennsylvania. After check in.. and past the elevators...the door open to what was a dirty roach hotel. Contacted Booking.com with my complaint and was informed to speak with manager in the morning after no other booking availabilities. Well this didn't go well for apparently the owner were at other hotels to "resolve and address complaints" at said locations as per the lobby representative when I check out. My complaint to her was about the cleanliness, horrible smell, and tacky appearance of the furniture and sticky hand prints on the door...secondly...the advertisement show for this location was fraudulent. My room was nothing near the depicted for this location. Lobby representative insisted she checks the all the rooms after housekeeping and found them suitable. If that was true...I informed her...the chair she's sitting in as accumulated dust along side her arm rest... review pictures..

The Sleep Inn & Suites Bensalem is situated on Street Road, a major thoroughfare in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. This location offers practical access to various points of interest in the Greater Philadelphia area. Its position allows for relatively easy connections to major highways, facilitating travel to downtown Philadelphia, surrounding suburban areas, and key attractions. The immediate environment along Street Road typically comprises a mix of commercial establishments, including dining options, retail stores, and other businesses. This means guests have convenient access to essential services and amenities within a short drive from the hotel.
For leisure travelers, the hotel's location offers proximity to popular destinations. It is within a reasonable distance of Sesame Place, a family-friendly amusement park, making it a consideration for families visiting the area. Additionally, entertainment venues like Parx Casino and Racing are generally accessible from this location, catering to those interested in gaming and live events. The environment is one of practicality and accessibility, rather than a secluded or scenic retreat, fitting the needs of travelers who prioritize convenience and direct access to local attractions and business centers.
However, customer reviews provide a stark contrast to the intended perception of the environment. One review critically described the interior as a "dirty roach hotel" with a "horrible smell" and "tacky appearance of the furniture and sticky hand prints on the door." Another mentioned an "overwhelming air freshener from the lobby" suggesting an attempt to mask odors, and a disappointment that the rooms were "not clean." These comments indicate significant issues with the actual cleanliness and overall ambiance of the hotel's internal environment, which is a crucial consideration for potential guests.
As a Sleep Inn & Suites, the hotel generally aims to provide essential services and amenities that cater to a comfortable, no-frills stay. Typical Sleep Inn properties offer a complimentary hot breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and a fitness center. Some locations may also include an indoor pool. These services are designed to provide guests with core conveniences without added costs.
However, based on the provided customer reviews, the delivery and quality of these services and the condition of amenities are highly questionable. The most prominent issues reported revolve around cleanliness and room quality. A guest described their room as being "nothing near the depicted" in advertisements, indicating a potential misrepresentation of the property. Specific complaints included:
Furthermore, issues with initial room assignment were reported, with a guest receiving a "completely locked" room that even staff couldn't open, necessitating a room change. While a "late check in after driving from SC to Pennsylvania" suggests a need for prompt and hassle-free service, the experience was instead "disturbing." The response from the lobby representative, insisting rooms were "suitable" despite visible issues like "accumulated dust," also points to a lack of effective customer complaint resolution and acknowledgment of problems.
While the brand typically offers free Wi-Fi, 24-hour front desk service, and potentially other basic conveniences, the overwhelming negative feedback on cleanliness and maintenance suggests these fundamental services might be compromised. The lack of functional or clean rooms directly impacts the value proposition of any offered amenity.
The intended features of Sleep Inn & Suites Bensalem, aligning with the brand's general model, include a focus on a "simply stylish" design and practical amenities. These generally entail:
However, the actual features as experienced by recent customers are severely compromised by the reported issues. The most significant features, from the perspective of negative reviews, include:
These severe issues fundamentally undermine the intended features of the Sleep Inn & Suites brand, making it difficult to recommend based solely on stated amenities without strong caveats regarding the actual guest experience.
As a Sleep Inn property, the hotel participates in the Choice Privileges loyalty program, which allows guests to earn and redeem points for stays across Choice Hotels brands. For local users searching "Hotels Near Of Me" and considering this property, typical promotional information would involve:
However, potential guests are strongly urged to exercise extreme caution and consider the significant negative feedback regarding cleanliness, room condition, and value for money. While promotional rates might seem appealing, the reported state of the hotel suggests that even at a lower price point, the overall guest experience may be highly unsatisfactory. For those prioritizing cleanliness and a well-maintained environment, the information from recent reviews indicates that this hotel may not meet basic expectations. It is highly recommended to seek recent, verified reviews from multiple sources and perhaps contact the hotel directly with specific concerns before making a reservation.

May 18, 2025 · Annie RuthIt's not what is expected from the pictures. It's small and not clean. The overwhelming air freshener from the lobby should've been my first clue. Thankfully the rooms don't smell like that, but for almost $200 the "suite" leaves a LOT to be imagined. It would've been acceptable as a $100 room maybe but nothing more. Never again.
Mar 22, 2025 · Angela CamioloWe arrived Feb. 14 at around 930pm for our 2 night say. The 1st room we got, smelled of straight weed and cigarettes, no phone, marks on the wall, stains in carpet. We went down to the desk to get another room. He gave us the room across the hall of the 1st room. The whole room again smells of nothing but weed, has blood or Ketchup spots on the wall by the chair, again no phone, and broken closet door. We go down to just get a refund to go somewhere else. The guy at the desk says we have to call priceline since it was a 3rd party reservation. I call priceline and they say they have to call you guys to confirm the situation. I stood next to the front desk when they called to talk to the guy at the front desk. He started to mumble when he was talking on the phone so I couldn't hear what he was saying. Priceline came back on the line and says the front desk said he can't do anything about a refund and so priceline couldn't do anything either. The guy at the front desk then walked away and leaves us at the front desk for a couple minutes with no refund and no new room. He comes back then gives us a new room. The 3rd room had no smell of weed or cigarettes but had lots of problems as you can see in the pictures. I wish I took picks of the first 2 rooms so you could see, but the smells were so strong. They have signs all over the hotel saying "Breathe in our hotel is 100% smoke free".
Feb 16, 2025 · Tommy smithOur stay at this hotel was nothing short of a nightmare. The room was incredibly unsanitary—there was hair all over the bathroom, and it was clear that proper cleaning hadn’t been done in ages. The entire place felt dirty and disgusting, making it impossible to feel comfortable. To make matters worse, there was no hot water, which added to the discomfort. We could barely sleep at night due to the unhygienic conditions and overall unpleasant atmosphere. This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere!
Jan 20, 2025 · Nisso AshurovaWe got 2 suites, the jacuzzi in one wasn't working, and the microwave was missing. We found half a bottle of water sitting on the floor by the chair. There was a substance that resembled Vaseline caked on the counter. There was a partial mustard packet and an empty toilet paper roll on the floor in the bathroom, and the floor wasn't clean. There was a good selection for breakfast foods and beverages. The woman who works at the front counter was very nice and had a great sense of humor. The elevator made some pretty scary noises but apparently it does that. It's supposed to be a smoke free building but we smelled cigarette and Marijuana several times in the hallways.
