A wonderful hotel! Rooms are very nice with exposed wooden beam ceilings and faux fireplace. Bed was comfortable and bath/shower water nice and hot! The suite I stayed in had a functional kitchenette (full sized fridge, sink, cook top with a pot and pan, full sized microwave, dishwasher, and most importantly the k-cup coffee maker. The staff was very nice and welcoming. I loved the industrial look of the building as I am partial to all things steampunk. The lounge opens in the evenings for a spot of wine(or beer) and cheezes/crackers. The bar tender was very nice and welcoming. I would highly recommend and I would definitely stay again.

Apr 18, 2025 · James BarronWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brownstone Inn. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. It was also really cool that they offer a complimentary glass of wine and assorted cheese and crackers every evening from 5-7p, and then milk and fresh baked cookies from 8-9p. The location is great. We attended a wedding while we were here at the Benton Convention center which was only a 4 min drive. You’re closed to alot of food options, bars/ nightlife and a few breweries. Overall, this hotel and experience met our expectations and I would definitely stay again next time I’m in the Winston Salem area.
Jun 01, 2025 · Shante BosemanLovely historic hotel in a wonderful central location. Easy walking distance to Downtown, west End and Old Salem. Spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Staff members were friendly and very accommodating. Love the extras (breakfast, wine/beer and cheese and cookies and milk). I would highly recommend this hotel and plan to return!
May 16, 2025 · laurie dahleExecutive summary: Great place, but FYI some rooms have no natural light. If the "dark windows" issue matters to you, make sure to ask for a room where there is light from outside when the blinds are open. There are so many “pros” about the Brookstown: being at a wonderful historic place; the great location near Old Salem; spacious, clean, comfortable rooms; food amenities - hot breakfast, wine and cheese, cookies and milk; lovely outdoor patio, but here is the “con” – our room (Room 237, a queen studio suite), despite very large windows, was located directly against a wall or barrier and you could not get any natural light. None. My husband and I arrived on a sunny afternoon, and left on a sunny morning, but you wouldn’t know it if you were in our room. This may not matter to some people, but it mattered to me! I had even asked at check-in about making sure we had a nice room and was told only that the layouts of all queen studio suites were the same. All room pictures on the website show light coming in through the windows, so we had no way of knowing. Since we were staying just one night and had already gotten settled in the room before trying the blinds, we did not ask to change rooms. I did ask about the dark window issue the next morning and was told that yes, some rooms have windows that do not let in light, but you can ask for a room that does or for a specific room. Believe me, next time I will ask, especially after walking down the hall that morning where you could see into rooms where the cleaning staff was working, flooded with sunshine!
