Rooms were clean with all basic needed amenities, and the hotel was located very close to a main PRT bus line and nearby the Red T line. The service is what really stood out, though. The staff went above and beyond to both accommodate my needs and help me with my stay. They were very friendly and nice.
For those searching for "Hotels Near Me" in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, THE INN- PITTSBURGH, located at 2834 Banksville Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15216, USA, offers a notably budget-friendly accommodation option. With contact available at (412) 697-1400 or +1 412-697-1400, this establishment stands out for its value and a focus on providing essential comforts, often at a significantly lower price point than other city hotels.
THE INN- PITTSBURGH is situated on Banksville Avenue, a major road in the Banksville neighborhood of Pittsburgh. This location places it strategically within easy reach of downtown Pittsburgh and various city attractions. The review highlighting its proximity to a "main PRT bus line and nearby the Red T line" underscores its excellent public transportation access. The Potomac Station (Red Line T) is just a 12-minute walk away, and Stevenson Station is 15 minutes away, providing convenient light rail access to downtown and other key areas of the city. Additionally, several bus lines (like the 36 and 38) operate along Banksville Road, with stops very close to the hotel, ensuring comprehensive transit options.
While Banksville Avenue is a commercial thoroughfare, the hotel's specific placement, where "the road is somewhat private," suggests a degree of seclusion that can contribute to a quieter stay. The availability of a "parking garage" (though one review notes it might not always be functional) and free self-parking is a significant advantage in a city like Pittsburgh where parking can be challenging and expensive. The hotel's location is within a 10-minute drive of major Pittsburgh landmarks such as Acrisure Stadium (home of the Steelers), PPG Paints Arena (home of the Penguins), PNC Park (home of the Pirates), and Station Square, making it suitable for sports fans and those looking to explore the city's entertainment districts. It is also relatively close to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Point State Park, and various museums, offering a good balance between accessibility to city life and a potentially more peaceful lodging experience compared to hotels directly downtown.
THE INN- PITTSBURGH provides a range of basic and practical amenities, focusing on delivering value for its price point:
The primary promotional strength of THE INN- PITTSBURGH stems from its exceptional value and personalized service, as directly communicated through customer reviews. The narrative emphasizes its affordability ("cheap but pretty decent," "gets the job done fine for the price") coupled with a surprisingly high level of staff attentiveness.
The positive feedback on the staff's friendliness and willingness to "go above and beyond" acts as a powerful testimonial, suggesting a welcoming environment that makes guests feel valued despite the hotel's budget nature. The reliable public transportation access is another strong selling point, appealing to those who wish to navigate Pittsburgh without a car.
However, it is crucial to address the "dealbreaker" issue mentioned by one guest: "cold showers." This significant drawback, if not resolved, could deter repeat business for some guests, despite all other positive attributes. While one review mentions "bathtub" as a room amenity, the issue of water temperature specifically highlights a potential inconsistency in a fundamental service. Other less critical, but notable, issues include the elevator not working (meaning upper floors are accessible by stairs only) and conflicting information about the parking garage's functionality.
For local users searching for "Hotels Near Me" in Pittsburgh, THE INN- PITTSBURGH appeals to those on a tight budget who prioritize value, friendly service, and convenient public transport. It's ideal for short stays, solo travelers, or those who plan to spend most of their time exploring the city and need a clean, basic place to sleep. While it delivers on affordability and human touch, potential guests should be aware of the possibility of encountering maintenance issues such as inconsistent hot water, and manage their expectations regarding luxury amenities or a fully functional parking garage. Its strengths in location and customer service often outweigh its minor deficiencies for its target demographic, making it a viable and often pleasant option for an economical stay in Pittsburgh.

May 12, 2025 · Aaron RothI stayed here on a Friday night. My price through Agoda was only $44 after fees; everywhere else in town was asking $250+ that night. Spacious room with two beds and fridge to myself. I arrived an hour early and they were able to check me in anyway. I slept like a baby, no noise issues. I like the location as the road is somewhat private and there’s a parking garage. Unfortunately, cold showers are a dealbreaker for me, so I won’t be returning. If you don’t mind cold showers, I highly recommend!
May 11, 2025 · Xär BlackthornI usually don’t write reviews but I had a fantastic stay at The Inn Pittsburgh! The room was clean, cozy, and well equipped with a mini fridge, coffee maker, and YouTube TV for entertainment, making my stay extra convenient. The front desk receptionist was friendly and accommodating, ensuring I had everything I needed. The best part was the location! Just 3 minutes away from the train station makes it super easy to explore Pittsburgh and not to mention just steps away from all the great eats. If you’re looking for a comfortable, affordable, and well-located places to stay this is a great choice! I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!!!
Jan 31, 2025 · Alexis RockThe room was clean and the night was quiet. I slept well and was refreshed with a nice hot shower in the morning. The manager on site was genuinely courteous and helped with everything. There was however a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the stairwells, but overall a good experience
Mar 22, 2025 · Devarym MosheVery thankful for this hotel. My grandmother was without power, due to the recent storm, so we wanted to find her a place to stay. The hotel offered a nice, clean, and affordable handicap accessible room. The room was very clean and staff were very friendly. Only negative was that their elevator is broken.
