The environment of Fairfield Inn & Suites Pittsburgh Downtown is distinctly urban, as its name suggests. Situated on Fort Pitt Boulevard, it boasts a prime downtown location, offering guests convenient access to many of Pittsburgh's key attractions and business centers. The hotel's proximity to the riverfront provides a picturesque view, particularly from higher floors or designated areas. Guests have specifically mentioned a "great view of the riverfront" from the second floor, which includes a large area for complimentary breakfast and a balcony. While the balcony might be too cold to enjoy in colder months like February, its presence indicates an effort to leverage the scenic location. The immediate surroundings are characterized by typical city infrastructure, including other buildings, businesses, and public transportation options. The hotel is noted for its walkability, with close proximity to essential establishments such as Target, Five Below, Starbucks, and numerous other restaurants, catering to various dining and shopping preferences. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, a river trail entrance is conveniently close by, offering opportunities for leisure and exercise.
The services and features at Fairfield Inn & Suites Pittsburgh Downtown appear to be quite comprehensive, aiming to provide a comfortable and convenient stay. A key highlight, consistently praised by guests, is the complimentary breakfast. This buffet-style offering typically includes a variety of items such as eggs, waffles, sausage, Danish pastries, muffins, or bagels, along with different juices, milk, yogurt, and coffee. This complimentary breakfast is a significant value-add, particularly for travelers looking to save on meal costs. The hotel also provides essential in-room amenities, with rooms often equipped with a mini-fridge and microwave, allowing guests to store and prepare light snacks or meals. One reviewer noted a broken microwave but commended the staff for promptly replacing it within 20 minutes, demonstrating efficient service recovery.
Connectivity is well-addressed, with free in-room Wi-Fi available for all guests, crucial for both business and leisure travelers. The presence of a 24-hour business center further supports guests who need to work during their stay. For entertainment, the in-room televisions access streaming services like YouTube, which is a modern convenience appreciated by guests. Maintaining a fitness routine is possible thanks to the 24-hour gym, equipped with cardio equipment and free weights, which is free for all guests to use.
One notable feature, especially for longer stays, is the availability of laundry facilities on the mezzanine floor. A guest who stayed for nearly two weeks found this service highly beneficial. The hotel also prioritizes security, with the main door locked at night and accessible only with a room card, which is a reassuring measure in a city environment. The 24-hour front desk ensures that assistance is always available. Additional conveniences include express check-out, a front desk safe, and a gift shop.
A significant advantage for many travelers is the hotel's pet-friendly policy. The Fairfield Inn & Suites Pittsburgh Downtown welcomes one pet of any size for an additional fee of $50 per stay, allowing both dogs and cats. Pets are generally allowed on the third and fourth floors, and guests are advised to crate their pets and place a "Pet in Room" sign on the door if leaving them unattended. This policy is a considerable benefit, as many downtown hotels do not accommodate pets.
While the hotel offers many conveniences, parking in downtown Pittsburgh can be a consideration. The hotel provides valet parking for a surcharge, which includes in/out privileges, or guests can opt for off-site self-parking in nearby public garages for a fee. Guests have noted that driving and finding parking downtown can be "obnoxious," so utilizing ride-sharing services like Lyft or public transportation is often recommended. The hotel's excellent access to public transportation and its highly walkable location mitigate the parking challenge for many visitors.
Customer service at Fairfield Inn & Suites Pittsburgh Downtown consistently receives high praise. Reviews highlight staff members like Mohammad and Paige for their exceptional kindness, dedication, and welcoming demeanor. Mohammad, for example, was noted for going "above and beyond" to assist with unexpected travel issues, offering support and guidance. The staff are described as "really nice" and "genuinely caring individuals," which is a strong endorsement of the hotel's hospitality culture.
In terms of promotional information, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Pittsburgh Downtown generally emphasizes its prime downtown location, complimentary breakfast, pet-friendly status, and modern amenities. While specific limited-time deals were not provided in the prompt, the established features like free Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfast are inherent value propositions. The hotel's association with the Marriott brand often implies a certain standard of quality and service, which can be a form of assurance for potential guests.
In conclusion, for users of the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform seeking accommodation in Pittsburgh, the Fairfield Inn & Suites Pittsburgh Downtown stands out as a well-regarded option. Its strategic downtown location at 435 Fort Pitt Blvd, offering river views and excellent walkability to popular attractions, dining, and public transport, is a major draw. Mar 28, 2025 · Ryan FrenchI had a great experience while staying here looking at apartments on the north shore and squirrel hill area. My room was a good size for me. I had a mini fridge and microwave. My microwave was broke, but they sent up a new one within 20 minutes. All the staff were really nice. The second floor has a great view of the river front and a large area for complimentary breakfast. There was also a balcony, but way too cold to sit on it in Feb. Breakfast was eggs, waffles, sausage, Danish muffins or bagles. Different juices milk yogurt coffee. The mezzanine floor had laundry which I used since I stayed there close to two weeks. They lock the main door at night which is good for security reasons since its a city. You can access with room card. Of course great public transportation, very walkable. Target, five below and starbucks are really close and of course tons of other restaurants. There's a rivertrail entrance closeby. I like that the TV accessed YouTube since it's all I watch. I do think driving here and finding parking would be obnoxious, as with any place downtown. I saw there was valet. I took a Lyft from amtrak and had no problems. Also, thanks for letting my cat stay. He loved it. A lot of hotels downtown don't allow pets.
Apr 02, 2025 · JessicaSolid hotel. The location is excellent and the rooms are quite nice, if expensive. The shower we got was one of the nicest I've had and the beds, while not perfect, were pretty comfortable. Breakfast was above average and everything was clean and worked well. More expensive than I would have liked, but that is more a reflection of the city's prices than this hotel. This hotel was cheaper than most of the ones nearby and the quality met my expectations. Nice place to stay if your budget allows for it.
Apr 11, 2025 · Benjamin HoyWe stayed here for a basketball tournament and majority of our team stayed here. We got there at 2:30pm. Checkin is 3pm. Not ONE room was ready. When the rooms were “ready” miraculously at 3:05pm my room was open when I got up there, no towels in the room(when I did get bath towels they were POOL towels) the bath tub was stained as if it had blood in it. The bed sheets didn’t fit the bed and kept popping off. The front staff was rude. Parking was not explained properly until the following day. One of our players rooms had a crack pipe in it. No accommodations. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel.
Apr 22, 2025 · Desire FriasonNice newer budget hotel option hidden on the edge of Downtown. Highway side rooms are noisy most of the night, if that's a problem for you. The area is safe and most of Downtown is within a ten-minute walk. Valet parking is expensive ($38), but free or low cost overnight parking is available on nearby streets or garages within a block or two. $12 for 12 hours at nearby Allies iParkit if you book on their app or website. Breakfast includes packaged croissandwiches similar to Burger King, make-yourself waffles, muffins, toasts, and oatmeal. There are several great bakeries and breakfast restaurants within five minutes if you want more.
