An excellent value for money. Unlike other hotels you get space to spread out. The decor is dated but perfectly nice and clean - For the same money I’ll take more space over fancy looking faucets any day. There isn’t a restaurant in the hotel proper but there’s one in the building and a good 24 hr convenience with decent food across the street. Our room had a sitting room with a small corridor with a bathroom to one side and a fridge space to the other to the bedroom. No honor bar. The older fixtures are very nice to use (lots of water flow in a way that’s rare in most places today!). There are nice views from the windows n several directions and the windows are modest sized to maintain privacy. All in all one of the best places I’ve stayed in NY (I’ve stayed in many newer hotels like the standard and the ace and the roger Williams but I’d actually prefer to stay here).. I strongly the with 5 stars since this isn’t some peak of opulence but I think hotels like this are under rated.

Mar 18, 2025 · Ben GomesAs two women, one in the 30s and one in the 60s range of age, we really enjoy staying on the upper west side. Then Lucerne has become our home hotel. We have stayed in a number of rooms. The corner rooms on the Avenue have incredible views, and the rooms with the “obstructed” view are a bit more spacious, and still have city scape views. You also get a breakfast voucher for Nice Matin, which is an excellent restaurant and that would be a different review. Everyone at the Lucerne is so kind and caring; service and housekeeping all do a wonderful job. It’s so nice to be recognized and welcomed by the same folks. Retaining staff is always a good sign for a hotel business. There are quite a few lovely restaurants within walking distance, the bagel place nearby is fantastic and quintessentially New York City. It’s also within walking distance of the science museum and the edge of the park. Note: the subways can take time, and cars can be pricey, if you plan on spending a lot of time in midtown and/or downtown. Unless you don’t mind walking for an hour, haha. We love the Lucerne!
Feb 24, 2025 · Britta StaceyThe room was very nice, comfortable and reasonably large. The staff is top notch. Had excellent recommendations for food (late Friday night - no reservations - Valentine's Day). Easy walking distance to eateries, parking garage and other places of interest. The doormen were very professional would engage in friendly conversation. Will stay again....
Feb 16, 2025 · Jim BauerLoved the location! Accessible to the red line and the park. Great shops, cafes and restaurants steps away. Staff was fabulous. We stayed in a corner room and it was fantastic! Great water pressure, comfortable pillows and beds, quiet rooms and windows that open to get fresh air. All 💯💯💯
Mar 19, 2025 · Tracy Kathleen SmithI love this little quaint and quiet hotel on the Upper West Side of New York City. Sign up for their specials - great pricing for NYC! Away from the crowds, attached to an amazing restaurant (Nice Matin), comfy beds, good size room and bathroom by NYC standards. She has heart and soul. The subway, Central Park, many places to eat, museums, etc - it's within walking distance of so much. Her old pipes may sing/thump occasionally, the shower temp flucuates a bit but not too bad, and no one answers their email, but everything else makes up for these minor things. They even have a nice car to LGA waiting. This is our new go-to hotel when we visit NYC. Highly recommend! *Advice to ALL companies: don't list a customer service email if you don't actually answer it in a timely manner or at all in our case. We were somewhere we could not call and had to rely on email. Five days later and still haven't gotten a reply to info@thelucernehotel.com or reservations@thelucernehotel.com.
