Monhegan Island itself is a unique environment, located ten miles off the coast of MidCoast Maine, accessible only by ferry (from Port Clyde, New Harbor, or Boothbay Harbor). Aug 24, 2024 · Melva OlsonMy friends and I planned an impromptu visit to the island to celebrate a birthday, and I called all around the island to find someone that could prepare a surprise birthday cake with us with only 24 hours notice. The Trailing Yew graciously said that they could do it with all the frills. When we group arrived, the beautiful cake was ready for us and the team brought out beautiful dishes and serving ware to our outside table overlooking the sea. Everyone commented on how it was the best cake they had ever had ((double layer round vanilla with fresh raspberry filling)). It was such a fun surprise for my friend, and I’m so grateful to the Trailing Yew team for making it happen! ❤️
Jun 17, 2024 · Misty StartI have stayed in all the accommodations on this property except the Seagull starting from 1974 when Josephine was still there. Even the 'trailer' when it actually was a trailer lol. The food has always been good home cooking and plentiful. I have been teaching art workshops on the island since 2002 and many of my students have also enjoyed their stay at the Yew. Just listed the dates for my 2024 workshop and will be sharing the TY info with them. Still a few friends on the island from back then that we look forward to visiting with again.
Jun 04, 2024 · J. R. Baldini (Niagara Wedding Chapel)Stayed for a weekend in the Seagull building. I wish I never did... The room that was provided for ~$150 a night was infested with cockroaches and I suspect the whole building if not the whole establishment is as well. I killed more than just a few during my brief time I could stand to stay in the room. Underneath the peeling wallpaper, the walls are covered with black mold. There were also some type of small bugs crawling near baseboards and in the dresser, and I found a few molted shells around the floor and on the sheets. Out of fear that these were bedbugs, I threw away everything that I had taken with me on my trip to avoid an infestation at home. I thoroughly regret my stay at the Trailing Yew - there are doubtlessly better places on the island (which by itself is beautiful). "Rustic" is one thing, but this is unacceptable for any lodging.

Breakfast to order, delicious, mainly all homemade and locally sourced the best pumpkin scones! with time to sit down and chat with everyone else in the building. Loved having the peaceful evening here would like to return.
