It would be impossible to overstate just how bad my experience here was. To start, the airport pickup was in a dirty minivan and took 45 minutes to get us to the hotel. When I arrived they couldn't find my reservation and i had to buy a new room for the night at full price because I wasn't willing to take the 1 hour trip back to the airport to find another hotel with vacancy, or walk around the sketchy neighborhood at 2 am. When I received my room assignment, I walked to the back of the compound and was greeted by several squad cars and a room that was boarded up. The (albeit, helpful and kind) employee put me in another room that didn't have a lock at all, but rather simply a deadbolt. My bedspread had cigarette burns, the wall was stained, neither the sink nor the bath had been cleaned, and it smelled terrible. In short my stay was right out of a Hollywood horror story. The employees were at least polite, but I would do anything I had to to stay at another place in I am stuck at EWR again.

Regarding its environment, as an airport hotel, its primary setting is functional, designed to cater to transient guests. The surrounding area in Elizabeth, NJ, near a major transportation hub, is typically characterized by other hotels, parking facilities, and various businesses supporting airport operations. Guests seeking a vibrant tourist district might find the immediate surroundings less engaging than a downtown or entertainment area. The focus here is on practicality and access to the airport.
In terms of services, a crucial offering for an airport hotel is typically shuttle service to and from the airport. The provided customer reviews mention "airport pickup," indicating that this service is indeed offered. Other standard hotel services usually include a reception desk for check-in and check-out, and potentially vending machines for snacks and drinks. While specific details on amenities like Wi-Fi, breakfast, or fitness facilities are not provided in the given information, these are common offerings in many hotels, and guests often expect them. However, it's worth noting that the customer reviews mention issues with vending machines not working, which could impact the availability of immediate refreshments.
The features of the Airport Hotel Inn & Suites (EWR) are primarily centered around providing a room for the night. Guests would expect standard room amenities such as a bed, a private bathroom, and basic furnishings. The name "Inn & Suites" might suggest a variety of room types, potentially including suites with more space or separate living areas, though specific details are not available. The primary feature, as inferred from its name and location, is its function as an overnight stop for airport travelers.
Promotional information, if available, would typically highlight ease of access to EWR, competitive pricing, and perhaps any included services like the airport shuttle. Without explicit promotional materials, it's reasonable to assume the hotel emphasizes its convenience for airport access as its main selling point. Travelers are often looking for practical and affordable options when flying, and hotels in this category often position themselves accordingly.
However, it is imperative to provide an objective introduction, which means incorporating feedback from actual customers. The provided reviews offer a stark contrast to the typical expectations of a hotel stay. One customer described their experience as "impossible to overstate just how bad," detailing significant issues. These included a 45-minute wait for a "dirty minivan" for airport pickup, problems with reservation retrieval upon arrival leading to having to "buy a new room for the night at full price," and concerns about safety and room conditions. Specifically, the mention of "several squad cars and a room that was boarded up" upon initial room assignment, followed by a room that "didn't have a lock at all, but rather simply a deadbolt," raises serious questions about security and maintenance.
Furthermore, the environmental cleanliness of the rooms appears to be a major concern, with descriptions of "cigarette burns" on the bedspread, a "stained wall," uncleaned "sink nor the bath," and a "terrible" smell. Another review corroborates issues with room conditions, noting a room that "smelled like smoke even though I requested a nonsmoking room." Usability issues also arise, such as a key that "wouldn’t work each time I tried to get into my room" and non-functional vending machines. Both reviews also touch on staff, with one noting "unprofessional staff" while the other acknowledges that "the employees were at least polite" and "helpful and kind" despite the significant problems. The overarching sentiment from these reviews is a strong recommendation against booking, with one reviewer stating, "I would do anything I had to to stay at another place in I am stuck at EWR again."
In conclusion, for local users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me" and considering Airport Hotel Inn & Suites (EWR), it is presented as a hotel positioned for convenience to Newark Liberty International Airport, offering basic accommodation and an airport shuttle service. However, based on recent customer feedback, potential guests should be aware of significant concerns regarding service quality, room conditions, safety, and general maintenance. While its location might appear convenient, the detailed negative experiences shared by past guests are a critical factor to consider when making a booking decision. The promotional aspects of proximity and potential affordability need to be weighed carefully against the reported substantial issues with the hotel's operation and guest experience.
