This place is a DUMP. When I was homeless I was sent here by a program, the motel from first seeing it looks like an old apartment building. It's run down, it smells in both hallways I was staying in and the manager is rude. From day one my fiancé and I already knew it was going to be trash but we had no choice at the time so we went. The manager was nice the first time we came in, gave us the rules of the motel and we were given our room. We went inside and immediately checked the bed, bathroom and kitchen to make sure there was no bugs or rats etc. there was nothing suspicious at that very moment but that next morning at 5 am, my fiancé woke up in the middle of the night and found a bed bug crawling on her pillow. She killed it and we automatically bagged our bedding in separate bags and left. We spoke to the manager and told him why we were leaving and he seemed nervous that we might tell the program that we found bed bugs in our room so he asked if we'd keep quiet. We told anyway and he got mad after that, gave us nothing but attitude ever since that day. His wife gave us a new room, she was very nice never rude to us. We went out to the car at night came back and he starts asking me if I have an animal in my bag, calls us liars about the bed bug we found in our old room, very unprofessional. He's the worst kind of manager to have and his building is invested as far as I'm concerned or there wouldn't be a bed bug in the room. I would recommend to stay away!!! Don't waste your money on this place!!!! Find better, there is better!
For individuals exploring "Hotels Near Of Me" within the Elizabeth, NJ area, the Efficiency Inn, located at 1065 E Jersey St, Elizabeth, NJ 07201, USA, may appear in search results. The hotel can be contacted via phone at (908) 820-0500 or mobile at +1 908-820-0500. This establishment caters to a specific segment of the market, including those seeking budget-friendly accommodations or, in some cases, emergency housing solutions. An objective introduction to the Efficiency Inn requires a thorough examination of its reported environment, services, and features, as well as an understanding of the very mixed experiences shared by past guests.
Environment and First Impressions:
The Efficiency Inn's exterior and general environment are frequently described in ways that suggest an older, possibly less maintained property. One notable review refers to it looking like "an old apartment building" and being "run down." The internal environment, specifically the hallways, has been reported to have unpleasant odors, indicating potential issues with ventilation or cleanliness in common areas. The surrounding area of 1065 E Jersey St in Elizabeth is likely a local, urban setting, which may not offer significant tourist attractions or high-end amenities within immediate walking distance. For those using "Hotels Near Of Me" with an expectation of a modern or aesthetically pleasing environment, the initial impression of Efficiency Inn might be a deviation from typical hotel standards. The parking situation is not explicitly detailed, but as a motel-style establishment, it likely offers on-site parking, though its condition or security are not specified in the provided information.
Services and Amenities:
Information regarding the explicit services and amenities offered by Efficiency Inn is somewhat limited in the provided reviews, but inferences can be drawn. As an "Efficiency Inn," the name itself suggests a focus on basic, functional accommodations, potentially with some extended-stay features like kitchenettes, though this is not confirmed. Guest experiences paint a picture of a no-frills stay. The primary service offered is a room for the night or for extended periods. One review specifically mentions checking the "bed, bathroom and kitchen" upon arrival, which implies that rooms may include basic kitchen facilities, a common feature in efficiency or extended-stay motels. However, the quality and maintenance of these amenities are a point of concern based on one highly critical review. The hotel does provide heating, as one grateful guest noted the room was "well heated and comfortable." Wi-Fi availability is not mentioned, nor are other typical hotel amenities such as breakfast, a gym, or laundry facilities. This suggests a very streamlined service model focused on providing fundamental shelter.
Features and Guest Experience:
The most striking feature of the Efficiency Inn, based on guest feedback, is the highly polarized nature of the guest experience, heavily influenced by management interactions and perceived cleanliness. One guest expressed profound dissatisfaction, describing the place as a "DUMP" and reporting significant issues. A critical concern raised was the discovery of bed bugs, leading to an immediate departure and a subsequent negative interaction with the manager. This review details allegations of the manager being "rude," "unprofessional," and even accusing guests of lying. Such accounts highlight potential issues with pest control and customer service, which are critical for any hotel. The manager's alleged reaction to the bed bug complaint and subsequent change in demeanor are significant features of the guest experience for some.
Conversely, another review offers a starkly different perspective, expressing gratitude for being able to stay there. This guest found the room "quite clean," "well heated and comfortable," and praised the "owner and his family" as "very kind and nice." This positive experience is attributed to the hotel serving as "emergency housing" for them, suggesting that for individuals in difficult circumstances, the Efficiency Inn provides a necessary and appreciated service. This dichotomy in reviews points to the hotel potentially fulfilling a specific niche, where expectations might vary significantly depending on the guest's situation and alternatives.
The conflicting accounts of cleanliness—one reporting bed bugs and implying general infestation, the other stating the room was "quite clean"—are a major point of consideration for "Hotels Near Of Me" users. This suggests inconsistency in room conditions or that guest perception of cleanliness can be subjective or tied to specific incidents. The hotel's management style, as described by one reviewer, also appears to be a defining feature, with the male manager being portrayed negatively and his wife positively. This inconsistency in staff interaction can significantly impact the overall guest experience.
Promotional Information and Objective Considerations:
For platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me," the Efficiency Inn primarily serves as a very budget-conscious option. Promotional information would likely focus on its affordability and possibly its utility for extended stays, or for those needing basic shelter. Given the conflicting reviews, an objective promotion would need to navigate the divergent guest experiences. It could highlight the potential for a "quite clean" and "comfortable" room, as experienced by some, while implicitly acknowledging that it is a no-frills establishment. The positive feedback on the kindness of the "owner and his family" from one perspective could be highlighted, focusing on the human element of service for those who found it welcoming.
However, an objective introduction must also address the significant negative feedback. For a platform like "Hotels Near Of Me," potential guests need to be aware of the reported issues, such as alleged bed bug infestations, the "run down" appearance, and challenging interactions with specific management personnel. The "don't waste your money on this place" sentiment from one review stands in stark contrast to the "grateful" and "thankful" sentiment of another. This suggests that the hotel's suitability is highly dependent on individual guest needs and expectations. It is not a hotel that would typically be promoted for its luxury, amenities, or consistent high-end service, but rather as a functional, potentially very affordable, place to stay, particularly for those with limited options or specific emergency housing needs. Prospective guests should be encouraged to carefully consider their priorities and perhaps seek more recent reviews to gauge the current state of affairs before booking through "Hotels Near Of Me." The direct address and phone number are vital for those wishing to inquire further about specific room types or current conditions.

Nov 26, 2018 · Howard CookDude.. at first, it's like really low budget and just another smelly motel--but the rooms are AWESOME! Huge flat-screen, bed are comfy (but a little short in height), there's a counter-top, microvwave, huge fridge and the heater is perfectly placed. The only thing I didn't like is the smell of cigarettes and the shower head not heaving much pressure.
