Stay Away from This Place Don’t fall for the cheap prices and pretty pictures. I booked this hotel (Extended Stay America) for $120 for one night to stay with my family and two kids. We arrived around 11:30 PM, and right away we got an unpleasant surprise — parking was not free, it cost $25 per night. And things only got worse from there. At the front desk, we were told there would be a $100 deposit, which was never mentioned beforehand. As soon as we walked into the room, we were hit with the strong smell of old furniture and dirty carpet. The “queen size” beds were much smaller than standard size. The microwave didn’t work — we couldn’t even open its door. The kitchen was in terrible condition. The so-called “free breakfast” was a joke: stale cereal, nearly spoiled milk, and leftover coffee from the previous day. It’s clear the hotel is trying to make extra money through hidden charges like paid parking while misleading guests with promises of “comfort” and “free breakfast.” If you care about your family and basic standards — stay far away from this hotel.
For local users in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and the surrounding areas, when searching under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, the Extended Stay America Suites - Elizabeth - Newark Airport might appear as an option. Located at 45 International Blvd, Elizabeth, NJ 07201, USA, this hotel is part of the Extended Stay America brand, which typically caters to travelers seeking longer-term accommodations, often with kitchen facilities in each suite. The hotel can be reached via phone at (908) 355-4300 or +1 908-355-4300. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview, detailing its environment, intended services, features, and typical promotional information, while critically incorporating feedback from recent guests.
The environment of Extended Stay America Suites - Elizabeth - Newark Airport is characteristic of an airport-adjacent commercial zone. International Boulevard in Elizabeth is home to several hotels and businesses that serve travelers utilizing Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and the nearby port facilities. This location implies a functional rather than a picturesque setting, primarily geared towards convenient access to transportation hubs. While specific details about the immediate surroundings beyond other commercial properties are not provided, guests typically choose such locations for their practicality when flying or commuting, rather than for recreational or sightseeing purposes within the immediate vicinity. One review mentions staff making noise "right in front of the rooms," which suggests that the immediate surroundings of the rooms within the hotel itself might contribute to a less peaceful environment, despite being in a commercial area rather than a dense residential one.
As an Extended Stay America property, the hotel is designed to offer services that support longer stays. The hallmark of the brand is typically fully equipped kitchens in every suite, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. This is a significant service differentiator from traditional hotels, offering cost savings and convenience, particularly for families or those on extended business trips. The hotel generally promotes "free Wi-Fi" and "free grab-and-go breakfast." However, customer reviews present a critical view of these services. One review described the "free breakfast" as "a joke: stale cereal, nearly spoiled milk, and leftover coffee from the previous day," suggesting a significant discrepancy from typical expectations. Another common service is guest laundry facilities, often self-service, which would be essential for longer stays. Customer reviews also highlight that parking, which might be assumed to be free, is actually a paid service, costing "$25 per night" or "$20 per night," and that a "$100 deposit" is required, which guests reported was "never mentioned beforehand." This indicates a potential issue with transparency regarding additional charges. Furthermore, staff responsiveness and helpfulness are a concern, with one review stating "not at all helpful staff, rude af."
The features of the Extended Stay America Suites are centered around providing a home-like experience. Each suite is typically equipped with a kitchen that includes a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and often a coffee maker, along with dishes, cookware, and utensils. However, customer reviews reveal significant issues with these features: "The microwave didn’t work — we couldn’t even open its door," and "The kitchen was in terrible condition." Room features are also a major point of contention. Reviews mention "the strong smell of old furniture and dirty carpet," "clogged tubs," "clogged toilet seat," and issues with climate control ("AC’s are not working properly," "Lights are not working"). Bed sizes are also cited as a concern, with "queen size" beds being "much smaller than standard size." These descriptions paint a picture of poorly maintained and potentially unsanitary conditions. The hotel promotes itself as providing "comfort," but customer experiences contradict this, describing rooms as a "stupid mess" and a "terrifying experience."
Promotional information for Extended Stay America Suites - Elizabeth - Newark Airport would typically highlight its value proposition for extended stays, emphasizing the in-room kitchens, free Wi-Fi, and "free breakfast" as amenities that save guests money. Its proximity to Newark Airport is a key selling point, targeting travelers with early flights, late arrivals, or those on long layovers. The brand generally positions itself as a budget-friendly option for long-term accommodation. The "pretty pictures" mentioned in a review suggest a promotional effort to present the property in a favorable light, attracting guests with the promise of "comfort."
However, the customer reviews provide a stark and overwhelmingly negative counterpoint to any promotional claims. The phrase "Stay Away from This Place" encapsulates the sentiment. Beyond the issues with paid parking and unmentioned deposits, the reviews detail fundamental problems with the rooms themselves. The strong "smell of old furniture and dirty carpet," "clogged tubs," and "clogged toilet seat" point to significant cleanliness and maintenance failures. Non-functional appliances like the microwave and issues with heating/cooling (ACs not working properly) directly impact the intended convenience of an extended-stay property. The perception of feeling "very unsafe as staff was always there in the night right in front of the rooms making noise" and descriptions of "rude af" staff are severe criticisms that directly contradict expectations of hospitality and a peaceful stay. The "free breakfast" being described as "stale cereal, nearly spoiled milk, and leftover coffee from the previous day" indicates a severe lack of quality control. The general conclusion from these reviews is a strong warning to "stay far away from this hotel" if one cares about "family and basic standards."
In summary, for local users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me" and considering Extended Stay America Suites - Elizabeth - Newark Airport, it is presented as a budget-friendly option near EWR, offering suite-style accommodations with kitchens, free Wi-Fi, and a grab-and-go breakfast. However, objective analysis of recent customer reviews reveals a critical disconnect between these intended services and actual guest experiences. Significant issues with unexpected charges (parking, deposit), severe cleanliness and maintenance problems (smells, broken appliances, clogged plumbing, non-functional AC), poor breakfast quality, and negative interactions with staff are repeatedly reported. Therefore, while the hotel's location and stated features might seem appealing, the overwhelming negative feedback regarding basic standards of comfort, cleanliness, and service should be a primary consideration for any prospective guest.

May 12, 2025 · Kairat KanatovichTHE WORST ROOM I EVER BEEN TO, please please please don’t stay here if you want your stay to be peaceful and pleasant. I got no other option to shift all my luggage so I was struck in this stupid mess. Clogged tubs, clogged toilet seat, not at all helpful staff, rude af. Had to pay for parking $20 per night. AC’s are not working properly. Also felt very unsafe as staff was always there in the night right in front of the rooms making noise. Lights are not working, SUCH A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE
May 18, 2025 · Aaradhana Marati009Love the customer service from Savanna at the front desk. She is one of the hardest workers out of every extended state I’ve ever stayed at. Great problem solver with any issue hands-down. Handled a fire emergency with ease that I never seen before in my life. Her diligent effort got everybody out of harms way, got everybody out the there rooms ( and made sure every one was out the rooms ). I have never seen any hotel personal go door to door making sure everyone is safe. Even though the emergency wasn’t serious, she treated it as it was a critical situation.
Mar 23, 2025 · Jason HenryThis place is horrible. Don’t ever stay here my husband and I stay for a couple of hours and the toilet got backed up. There’s no maintenance person on the weekend and the front desk gave us a plunger to unclog the toilet then she had a nerve to tell us to bring the plunger back to the front desk. How ghetto is that? I’m glad we did not stay there. I would not bring my pet to this place. The rooms are gloomy and run down. I don’t know why this place is even located at the airport. The other hotels In the area of the airport are nice. This place is a dump And it needs to be Closed. I’m a very dissatisfied customer
Apr 13, 2025 · Kevin JacksonI don’t even know where to start. As soon as I got to the hallway heading down to the room there was 4 full trash bags right in front of my room keeping me from getting in and out without tripping. When I open the bedroom door the heat was unbearable had to open the windows and turn the ac on just to come an find out it wasn’t even working. Called down and they sent someone who tried his best to get it working and nothing was able to be done. He then disconnected it and told me to try again in 30 mins which I did and nothing worked. I then went down to the front desk where the lady gave me table fan cause there was no more rooms available and not even that worked. Had a horrible night, sweating and unable to sleep having to be up early in the morning to drive back home where it takes me 3 hours to get. I definitely do not recommend staying here unless your okay with sleeping in the heat.
