When you first walk in, it smells amazing. There’s a Starbucks, a nice restaurant. Looks great. But it’s a highly used place and it shows. Upon getting up to my room on the tenth floor, the smells got a bit less pleasant but was covered up pretty good. The room felt dated and smelled bad. It looked cleaned though. But you can tell they do not wash their comforters. Unfortunately, that’s actually pretty common but these needed to be replaced maybe, not good. Besides feeling a little dirty I was able to relax. Ordered the tacos app. The meat was dry. Minimal onion and cilantro. Dipping sauce was great, it’s the only reason I was able to chew and eat them at all. I really didn’t stay long. Starbucks service was okay. Coffee was way too sweet though. Didn’t taste like they added any espresso at all. Also the free snack room is very poorly maintained. The microwave needs replacing at least monthly. The packaged goods were smashed or old and dusty. Some bottled drinks seemed okay. Not much of a perk. And most of my reviews are positive, because I choose to only share those. But I feel honesty is important for a business to improve and for customers to make educated decisions. So I reluctantly leave this honest review. Especially at nearly $200 a night. It’s not acceptable.

Hilton Newark Airport Introduce

As a prominent choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, the Hilton Newark Airport offers a full-service experience for travelers seeking convenient access to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Located at 1170 Spring St, Elizabeth, NJ 07201, USA, this Hilton-branded hotel serves as a strategic base for both transient airport passengers and those looking to explore the greater New Jersey and New York City area. The hotel can be reached via phone at (908) 351-3900 or mobile at +1 908-351-3900.

The hotel's environment is designed to be welcoming and efficient, especially for its high volume of airport-related traffic. Upon entering, guests are often greeted by a pleasant aroma in the lobby, which has likely undergone renovations to maintain a contemporary appeal. The hotel features 378 guest rooms and suites, providing a variety of accommodation options. While public areas, including the lobby with its inviting scent and the presence of a Starbucks, aim to create a positive first impression, some recent customer feedback indicates that the rooms themselves can feel dated and may have unpleasant odors despite appearing clean. This suggests a contrast between the updated common spaces and the older guest room interiors. The Hilton Newark Airport is situated in a business district, contributing to a functional rather than scenic environment. However, its proximity to EWR is a significant advantage, often highlighted by its complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle service. Beyond the airport, the hotel offers relatively easy access to downtown Newark, including attractions like the Prudential Center and New Jersey Performing Arts Center, as well as connections to New York City via public transportation from the airport train station. It's also seven miles from Cape Liberty Cruise Port and ten miles from New York City, making it a viable option for pre- or post-cruise stays or city excursions.

In terms of services, Hilton Newark Airport provides a comprehensive array of amenities designed to cater to the needs of its diverse clientele. A key service is the complimentary 24-hour roundtrip airport shuttle, which runs every 20-30 minutes, connecting guests seamlessly to EWR terminals (guests take the AirTrain to Terminal P4 to pick up the shuttle). Free Wi-Fi and wired internet access are available in public areas and guest rooms, ensuring connectivity. For dining, the hotel features an on-site restaurant, the Newarker Restaurant, which serves a hearty breakfast buffet (for a surcharge) and offers lunch and dinner options, including sandwiches, steaks, seafood, and pasta. There is also Amelia's Lounge, a relaxed lobby bar, and a Starbucks Grab & Go in the lobby for coffee, specialty teas, and quick snacks. Room service is also available during limited hours. For leisure and fitness, the hotel boasts an indoor pool and a well-equipped fitness center. Business travelers can utilize the 24-hour business center and the hotel's extensive meeting facilities, which include 14 meeting rooms spread across 18,000 square feet, capable of hosting various events. Additional services include express check-in/check-out, a 24-hour front desk, concierge services, luggage storage, dry cleaning services, and an ATM/banking service. The hotel is pet-friendly, though a fee of USD 100 per accommodation per stay applies for pets up to 40 lbs. The staff is often praised for being polite and helpful, particularly in their room service and overall demeanor.

The features of the Hilton Newark Airport's guest rooms typically include the Hilton Serenity Collection bedding for comfort, flat-screen TVs with premium cable channels, individual climate control, coffee/tea makers, irons/ironing boards, and private bathrooms with complimentary toiletries. While some rooms offer amenities like sofas, mini-fridges are not standard in all regular rooms, which can be an inconvenience for guests. The hotel also offers accessible rooms with features like roll-in showers and other necessary accommodations. Some rooms may feature specific views, such as of the EWR runway, Port, or the Newark skyline, with higher rates for premium views. Connecting rooms are available for families or groups. The property also emphasizes its triple-glazed windows to minimize airport noise, aiming to provide a restful stay. Executive suites are available, offering more space and potentially additional amenities. Despite these features, some reviews highlight that regular rooms can be "very small" and that furnishings might be inconvenient, leading to a less comfortable stay than expected for a Hilton property. The condition of some in-room items, like comforters, has also been a point of concern, with suggestions they might not be washed regularly or need replacement.

From a promotional standpoint, Hilton Newark Airport actively participates in the Hilton Honors loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points for their stays, along with benefits like digital check-in and Digital Key. The hotel frequently offers various packages and discounts, such as "Park and Fly" options, which combine a stay with long-term parking, a popular choice for airport travelers. Special rates for AAA/CAA members, senior citizens, and corporate bookings are also common. Promotions often highlight the hotel's convenience to the airport, its shuttle service, and the on-site dining options, appealing to both business and leisure travelers. Seasonal offers or limited-time discounts may be available through the Hilton website or various online travel agencies. The hotel also promotes its facilities for events and meetings, emphasizing its conference spaces and catering services for corporate and social gatherings.

However, an objective introduction requires acknowledging the comprehensive range of customer experiences, including critical feedback. While the hotel's lobby often makes a great first impression with its cleanliness and pleasant scent, and many guests praise the helpfulness and politeness of the staff, particularly for room service, significant concerns have been raised. A recurring issue is that the rooms, despite appearing clean, are often described as dated, smelling bad, and feeling "dirty," with specific complaints about comforters needing replacement or better washing. The size of "regular rooms" has been noted as "very small," even compared to two-star motels, and the furnishing is considered inconvenient. Some guests have experienced dissatisfaction with room assignments, including changes without consent or rooms with "awful views," especially considering the price point. The on-site dining also receives mixed reviews; while the dipping sauce for tacos was praised, the meat was described as dry and the coffee from Starbucks "way too sweet" lacking espresso. Furthermore, the "free snack room" was severely criticized for being poorly maintained, with a microwave needing replacement and packaged goods being old, dusty, or smashed, leading one reviewer to state it was "not much of a perk" and unacceptable for a nearly $200-a-night hotel. These issues, particularly those concerning the dated rooms, cleanliness inconsistencies, and the quality of amenities like the snack room and some food items, suggest that while the Hilton Newark Airport offers a convenient location and basic services, its overall value proposition may be diminished by the condition of its guest rooms and the inconsistent quality of certain offerings, warranting careful consideration by prospective guests.

The regular rooms are very small. No fridge and inconvenient furnishing. It was clean and the room service was excellent, the staff was very polite and helpful. But the room itself as worse than the ones in 2-star motels I've been. Plus we reserved a room in advance and yet they changed the room without our consent with one with an awful view. Definitely would not recommend the hotel.

could be a decent stay when you arrive at EWR late and need a room for one night quickly. I had to stay in the area for one night due to a cancelled flight. There were stains on the walls, the carpet, and the ceiling, but at least the bed was clean. The bathroom door collided with the toilet which is an interesting construction decision.

Hilton Newark Airport is a decent option if you need a quick stay near the Newark airport. It’s convenient for layovers or short stops when you just need somewhere to rest for the night. That said, the rooms feel a bit dated, and it’s clear the furniture hasn’t been refreshed in a while. The bathroom also shows its age and could benefit from a modern update. Lighting was another issue—I found myself wishing for brighter décor or more lamps, as even with the curtains open, the room felt dim. A minor surprise was the view from my window, which overlooked a cemetery. While I’m not particularly superstitious, it wasn’t exactly my ideal scenery. The amenities, like the gym and conference rooms, are solid, and the on-site restaurant is fine for a hotel meal. However, despite the restaurant not being very busy, the breakfast service was slow. When the food did arrive, it was decent enough, but nothing remarkable. Overall, Hilton Newark Airport is a convenient choice for anyone needing to stay close to the airport, but I’ll likely explore other options in the area if I find myself back for another quick stopover.

Overall, I had a great experience at this hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, which made my stay enjoyable. The room was good, but there’s room for improvement. While I understand the hotel may be over 100 years old, regular upkeep is essential. Unfortunately, my room had a damaged shower tub, and there were minor issues with the wallpaper. These are small concerns in the grand scheme, and they didn’t overshadow my stay. Overall, I left happy and would consider staying here again.
