I would give them two more stars except no one could explain why I had a simple charge of a little over $150 on my bill after I stayed at the hotel about a month ago. The real issue is not the location or room, but dealing with their staff over the phone was a whole different story after the visit. Some demonstrated customer service, but as a whole I expected more than just the staff to say dial 0 for the hotel operator. Their hotel operator line when you dial 0 were not helpful at all in my experience and they kept sending me to other people to talk to. I got no clear explanation from anyone on the small charges. Even if they are considered a luxury hotel. If they explained why it was charged then I would be more understanding to raise the rating on the stars. I would recommend people take a look at what they are charging you at check out or better yet maybe look for a different hotel. Someone mentioned this place before on charges at check out, but thought I should bring it up again.

Location and Accessibility

The Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Qtr - Astor boasts an undeniably superb location at 739 Canal St. @, Bourbon St, New Orleans, LA 70130, USA. This address positions the hotel at the iconic intersection of Canal Street and Bourbon Street, placing guests directly at the gateway to the world-famous French Quarter and all its vibrant energy.

The most significant highlight of this hotel's location is its immediate proximity to Bourbon Street. As one reviewer noted, it's a "Great location if you want to stay right by Bourbon st." This means guests can step out of the hotel and instantly be immersed in the lively atmosphere, music, and unique charm of one of New Orleans' most celebrated streets. The entire French Quarter is literally at your fingertips, allowing for easy walking access to historic sites like Jackson Square, world-renowned restaurants, art galleries, and numerous jazz clubs.

Being on Canal Street also offers tremendous accessibility. Canal Street is a major thoroughfare and a central hub for public transportation, including the city's iconic streetcar lines. From here, you can easily catch a streetcar to explore other popular neighborhoods like the picturesque Garden District with its stunning mansions, or head towards the Arts/Warehouse District for museums and contemporary art. The street itself is also a bustling area for shopping and provides a clear pathway to the Mississippi Riverfront.

  • Concierge Services: While one guest noted the "concierge was never available to get our complimentary vouchers," a concierge service is typically offered to assist with local recommendations, tour bookings, and general guest inquiries.

  • On-site Dining Options: Most Crowne Plaza hotels offer a restaurant and bar. For this location, a seasonal pool bar is mentioned, implying food and drink service by the pool area. (Further public data indicates the Astor Cafe for breakfast and a bar/lounge for other meals/drinks).

  • Telephone Services: While a guest struggled with the "hotel operator line when you dial 0," the availability of an internal communication system suggests services like wake-up calls or direct dial to hotel departments are present.

  • Guest Room Features: Though not exhaustive in reviews, a property of this standard would typically include amenities like flat-screen TVs, coffee makers, and toiletries.

It's important for guests to be proactive in understanding charges at check-out, as suggested by a past reviewer. However, the basic amenities and a smooth check-in process remain key components of the service at Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Qtr - Astor.

The concierge was never available to get our complimentary vouchers. The check in was great. Pool area was nice and could hear the music playing . Great location if you want to stay right by Bourbon st. Looked like they were renovating, but our room hadn't gotten it yet. The bed was comfy and clean, bathroom clean, plenty of towels.

We stayed here for 4 nights and the water pressure, temperature and customer service was worth it. Everyone here is fantastic especially Joy at the front desk and an awesome Jamaican guy who's name I unfortunately can't remember but it started with a D and he definitely deserves a shout out. The location is excellent and although it's right in the corner of Bourbon Street it's surprisingly quiet. The pool is small and freezing but it was still nice and clean. The rooms and bathrooms were also clean and you can communicate with the front desk via text and they will handle any situation immediately. I would definitely stay here again.

I'm giving this place 2 stars because we requested a disability room and their rooms are NOT disability friendly. You have to step in to the bathtub and there is no handle to help with that. There is one handle in the bathtub towards the wall. The beds are also really high. Nothing in this room was disability friendly and the only reason we knew this was the room is because of the sign outside of our room. This was also on the 11th floor and unfortunately the emergency alarm went off and we had to help my mom go down 11 flights of stairs. Thankfully, she can still walk and go down the stairs but that was a nightmare (the alarm ended up being a false one). So if you're a disabled person, I do not recommend this hotel!

my friends and I stayed here back in April, over Easter weekend, and it was one of the worst experiences we’ve had in a hotel. We had someone break into our hotel room and steal credit cards from all four of us who were staying in the room, and the hotel staff cut off all communication with us after that. Security came up initially and took all of our information when we found out about the incident, but did not give any updates after that point. I have contacted them many times over the past month since checking out and have not received any further information from them. On top of that, the hotel has not refunded the incidentals hold fee that we were charged upon checking in. While checking out I was told there were no charges and I would receive the full refund, and here we are a month later with no refund still. So not only did we lose money with our credit cards being stolen, AFTER our room was broken into, the hotel is now also keeping money from us as well. My friends and I could not recommend this place any less if we tried. You’re better off at any other hotel. Do yourself a favor and do not be fooled by the great location. It’s not worth it for the money you’ll be out.
