I would not classify it as a hotel. It is a central unrefined event space, that you can make your own (in pictures) with a few on-site rooms. The property management team was accessible, but remote. The residential space was tough for me to navigate with my bad knees. The beds were low & soft as were the chairs & couches in the lounge. There's no closet in the rooms, just a couple of hooks on the wall. One night stay would probably be fine... 4 was too long.

Environment: Industrial Charm Meets Modern Design in Olneyville

Dye House is situated in the Olneyville section of Providence, an up-and-coming industrial area known for its evolving arts scene and creative energy. The building itself boasts a rich history, having once been a dye house and weaving room for the American Woolen & Weybosset Mill Complex, and later a ceramics studio. This heritage is evident in its architectural features, such as twenty-foot gabled ceilings, original red brick floors, and dozens of large windows that flood the interiors with natural light, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. The exterior features a broad barn door, giving it a welcoming, almost farmhouse-like appeal despite its urban setting.

The interior design of Dye House is a compelling juxtaposition of the historical and the modern, often described as "industrial chic" with "modern rococo design elements, vibrant textiles and bold colors." This unique aesthetic, with its "considered design details," creates spaces that are both effortlessly elegant and irresistibly cozy. While some guests may find the "unrefined" nature of the event space or the overall industrial feel a particular taste, others rave about its "rad, unique spot" vibe and innovative design.

The neighborhood itself, Olneyville, is characterized as a place that "feels like a secret" with an underground art scene, open studios, unmarked galleries, and a mix of old and new. While its walkability is generally rated low, and some visitors have noted that the area may not feel the safest, especially at night, the hotel's proximity to downtown Providence (a short drive away) mitigates this concern for guests with a car. It's recommended to have transportation to explore the city from this location. Dye House is approximately 2.3 km from the Dunkin' Donuts Center and 2.6 km from Johnson and Wales University, making it a convenient option for those visiting these institutions.

Services: Independent Stays with Responsive Support

Dye House operates with an "invisible service" model, meaning there is no staff physically on-site at a traditional front desk. Instead, the property management team is accessible remotely via email and text, providing clear instructions for gaining access to rooms and offering helpful, responsive support. This self-check-in process (typically from 4:00 PM) via smartlock and door codes provides ultimate convenience and contactless access. Check-out is usually by 11:00 AM or 11:30 AM.

  • Accommodation Features: Dye House offers five distinct guest rooms, or suites, each individually decorated and furnished, often with a separate sitting area. These include The Loft (King Suite), Heddle Suite (Queen), Weft Suite (King), and Twill Suite (Queen), each with unique character. Rooms are air-conditioned and include amenities such as minibars, coffee/tea makers (with pour-over coffee), and flat-screen Smart TVs with digital channels and streaming services. Beds vary, with options including king and queen beds, often featuring memory foam mattresses and premium bedding for comfort. Some guests have noted beds can be low and soft, and the absence of traditional closets, instead offering hooks on the wall for hanging clothes. However, the spaciousness of rooms like "The Loft" (which is 89 m² / 958 ft²) is frequently praised. Some rooms also offer a balcony or terrace.
  • In-Room Amenities: Private bathrooms come with designer toiletries (such as Malin+Goetz), complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. Each room also includes a work desk and chair, ideal for those needing a dedicated workspace, and complimentary wired and wireless internet access ensures guests stay connected. Fresh ground coffee and complimentary snacks are often provided, enhancing the guest experience. An in-room safe is also available.
  • Cleaning Service: Cleanliness is a consistently praised aspect of Dye House, with guests highlighting that the property is "clean" and rooms are "sanitized between stays." Anti-viral cleaning products and professional-grade sanitizing services are in use.
  • Pet Policy: Dye House is a pet-friendly establishment on request, though a charge of $75 per pet (under 50 lbs) applies. The Weft, Heddle, and Twill Suites are pet-friendly, but pets are generally not allowed in The Loft suite. Both dogs and cats are welcome. Please note that pets cannot be left in the room unattended, and excessive barking is prohibited. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pet.
  • Security and Safety: The property is equipped with fire extinguishers, CCTV cameras in common areas and outside the property, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and security alarms, ensuring a safe environment for guests.
  • Accessibility: Dye House is ADA compliant, offering a stair-free path to the entrance and accessible parking.
Features: A Blend of Hotel and Event Venue

Dye House is more than just a place to stay; it's designed to be a "destination for travelers and locals, a neighborhood focal point, a space where all kinds of people come together."

  • Unique Design and Vibe: The hotel's unique design, combining historic architecture with modern artistic touches, sets it apart. Guests often describe it as "thoughtfully curated" and "rad," appealing to those who appreciate artistic and non-traditional accommodations. The lobby often showcases local art and photography.
  • Event Space: A significant feature of Dye House is its dedicated event space, "The Studio." This large, versatile area with its soaring ceilings (twenty-foot gabled ceilings) and original brickwork is ideal for a diverse set of occasions, including weddings, family get-togethers, business retreats, photo shoots, and private dinners. It can accommodate up to 125 guests standing or 100 seated for receptions. Dye House also offers "The Loft" as an intimate gathering space, with a gourmet kitchen and seating for fourteen, ideal for small parties or culinary events. The ability to book "Full Buyout Packages" that include both event space and private hotel room access (sleeping up to 8 guests in 4 rooms) makes it particularly appealing for events. The Studio's unique features include a concave floor where tunnels once transported wool and pivotable windows for enhanced airflow and luminosity.
  • Free Parking: A highly valued feature, especially given the location, is the provision of free self-parking right on-site. Each hotel room has 1 dedicated parking spot, providing peace of mind for guests with vehicles. For events, Dye House does not offer on-site parking but can recommend trusted valet services.
  • "Invisible Service" Model: This unique operational approach means guests manage their stay independently with remote support, appealing to those who prefer autonomy and contactless interactions. Mobile key entry is also an option.
  • Nearby Amenities: Despite the industrial setting, there's a good bar/restaurant right next door, offering convenient dining and social options. The surrounding area in Olneyville is also developing, with a renovated mill area featuring food, breweries, and a distillery. The hotel is also conveniently located near attractions like Waterplace Park & Riverwalk and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art.
  • Retail Shop/Pantry: A retail shop in the lobby features local artists and makers, allowing guests to browse and shop online.
Promotional Information: Tailored Experiences and Value

Dye House offers various packages and arrangements that cater to both individual travelers and groups planning events.

  • Event Packages: For those looking to host an event, Dye House provides flexible rental options. "Full Buyout Rental Packages" offer 2-day/2-night access to "The Studio" and four hotel rooms, making it a comprehensive solution for weddings and other gatherings. Rates vary depending on the day of the week, time of year, and event duration. For instance, a "Full Weekend Buyout" (Friday-Sunday) can range from $6,000 (off-peak: November-April) to $7,500 (peak: May-October). A "One-Day Wedding Rental Buyout" for "The Studio" can range from $2,500 (weekday off-peak) to $5,500 (Saturday peak). Non-wedding special events in The Studio range from $1,000–$4,000, and use of The Loft for events ranges from $450–$550.
  • Flexible Stays: While some guests find longer stays (e.g., 4 nights) challenging due to room features like low beds or lack of closets, others, like the couple who stayed in "The Loft," regretted "not staying longer," highlighting its suitability for both short and potentially extended stays, especially for those seeking a "home away from home" feel in certain suites.
  • Competitive Pricing: Guests have often found the accommodations to be "super affordable," providing excellent value for the unique experience and amenities offered.
  • Community Focus: Dye House positions itself as a new kind of hospitality that prioritizes its community, guiding guests to explore Olneyville's art scene and fostering a sense of connection. They also host exclusive, interactive events in culinary concepts, wellness, crafts, music, and dance. Guidebooks/recommendations and local maps are provided.
  • Payment and Cancellation Policies: Reservations are held with a credit card and charged 100% at the time of booking. Guests must be 21 and older. A 50% refund is available for cancellations made 7 days or more before arrival; no refund for cancellations made after that. Special cancellation policies apply for COVID-19 regulations.

In conclusion, Dye House is not your average hotel; it's an experience. Its industrial-chic environment, flexible "invisible service" model, and dual function as a boutique hotel and event space make it a distinctive offering on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform in Providence. While the location demands awareness, and some room features might require adjustment for longer stays, its unique character, spacious accommodations, and value for money make it a compelling choice for travelers seeking something truly different and for those planning special events in a captivating setting.

Awesome place! My husband and I stayed in The Loft and our only regret was not staying longer. Room was incredible and spacious, super affordable. Easy access in and out. Clean. Free parking space right on site. Good bar/restaurant right next door. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Providence. If you’re looking for a rad, unique spot - this is it! Located in an up and coming industrial area. I could see where this may not appeal to others but it did not bother us much. Would rate walkability low but no worries if you have a car- so close to downtown. Not the safest area, do not recommend walking around especially at night- few unsafe scenarios we encountered.

As a wedding photographer based in Rhode Island, I'm always thrilled when I get to capture a wedding at Dye House! The venue space itself is stunning - the perfect blank slate that still has a unique character to it. But my favorite feature is the hotel rooms! Having on-site accommodations that are not only spacious but also stylishly designed with pops of color and big windows that let in natural light is a photographer's dream! It has allowed my couples to provide plenty of getting ready space for their crew, and it has also served as a great space for some guests to lounge during the reception if they need a break from dancing. And if you or your guests are LGBTQ+, you can feel safe and comfortable knowing that they have gender neutral bathrooms for all of your guests during your wedding - a huge plus that not many venues have! The staff is always so friendly, and we feel welcomed each and every time we work with them. You won't want to miss out on this gem of a wedding venue for your big day!

Incredible experience & stay at the Weft Suite - walking distance to many great PVD brunch and coffee shops while a short car/uber ride away from downtown and College Hill / Fox Point dinner & nightlife. Friday evening Art Gallery upon arrival & meeting Jacob was cherry & top. Will be back to stay in the Loft!

Very sweet rooms clever use of repurposing an old mill. I had the Heddle suite I was very comfortable & cozy Good WiFi Coffee bar in common room was great (I couldn’t figure out how to make coffee in my room. There was a very cool coffee maker, etc. but I just couldn’t figure it out.) Nice little mini fridge bathroom properly appointed. Great little hotel!
