Loved this place! We just stayed for one night, but it was clean, comfortable, has a great breakfast included with your room (a big selling point for me with hotels), the staff was so nice, and it's centrally located downtown, walking distance to the commuter rail, the RISD museum and many other things!
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the vibrant heart of Providence, Rhode Island, the Hampton Inn & Suites Providence Downtown stands out as a distinctive and highly-regarded option. Located at 58 Weybosset St, Providence, RI 02903, USA, this hotel occupies a beautifully remodeled historic building, originally constructed in 1920 as the Old Colony House, home of the Old Colony Bank. This unique heritage imbues the property with a charm and character that sets it apart from more contemporary builds, offering guests a blend of historical ambiance and modern convenience.
The environment of the Hampton Inn & Suites Providence Downtown is one of urban energy combined with historic elegance. Situated in the heart of Providence's financial district, guests are immediately immersed in the city's bustling downtown. Despite being an older building, the hotel has undergone renovations (last noted in 2009) to bring it up to modern standards, though some guests remark that its age is still subtly evident in its structure. The lobby is a striking feature, described as a "beautiful, upscale 10 story hotel with all high end offerings" and decorated with "elaborate crown molding with gold inlay," maintaining the historic architecture and design. This creates an inviting and impressive gathering place. The hotel also boasts a concierge room on the 11th floor, offering "breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline and the Providence River," a significant draw for guests looking to enjoy the urban landscape. Its central location means guests are within walking distance of a plethora of attractions, dining options, and public transportation, including the commuter rail.
The services provided by Hampton Inn & Suites Providence Downtown are comprehensive and designed to enhance the guest experience. A major selling point, frequently highlighted by satisfied customers, is the complimentary hot breakfast buffet, served every morning in the hotel's two-story atrium lobby from 6 AM to 10 AM. This "great breakfast included with your room" offers a substantial and convenient start to the day, often featuring a wide selection of items. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, both in rooms and public areas, ensuring guests can stay connected for work or leisure. The hotel also offers a local shuttle service (free, with advanced reservations) for destinations within approximately one mile of the hotel, including local transportation hubs and businesses, providing added convenience for exploring downtown Providence.
For those traveling by car, the hotel offers valet parking for a fee, which is a common arrangement in downtown urban settings (around $38.00 per night, with in/out privileges). While there is no on-site airport shuttle for T.F. Green (PVD), guests can arrange for alternative transportation. The hotel also features a 24-hour front desk, ensuring that assistance is always available. Other guest services include a fitness center equipped with PreCor equipment, a full-service business center with complimentary high-speed internet access and Printer-On service, express check-out, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, flat-screen TVs with premium channels, coffee/tea makers, microwaves, refrigerators, and safes. Guests can expect "clean, comfortable" rooms with features like hypo-allergenic bedding and blackout drapes for a restful sleep. While one review mentioned that the "bed frames had particle board around the outside and the mattresses slid easily causing the particle board to be exposed," potentially causing scratches, the overall feedback regarding room comfort and cleanliness is positive. Many rooms are designed to be spacious, and connecting rooms are available for families or groups. The hotel also offers accessible rooms with features like roll-in showers or adapted tubs, and is committed to providing a smoke-free environment (with a fee for smoking in non-smoking rooms). Apr 02, 2025 · Jenna SunshineGreat location and staff! Only reason I am giving the room 3 stars is that it's clearly an older building that was remodeled and it shows. The location and service more than makes up for that, however! If you like a rustic building and room with a prime location, this is a great spot.
Mar 31, 2025 · Jim TThe hotel staff was warm and the hotel rooms that we booked were very nice and spacious. We had a great stay and will definitely stay there again on another trip to Providence.
May 21, 2025 · Neal MuhammadHotel shares the edifice with an office building, as the whole building used to be a bank. Coach entrance to the side with valet parking available. Flush against neighboring buildings, so no view except if in the penthouse's conference room, which overlooks Providence River. Nice breakfast and friendly receptionists. Rooms are comfortable, with free wi-fi or paid wi-fi for faster streaming. In December 2024 the national Libertarian Party hosted an event at this location.
