Over the years, we've stayed at seven different hotels in the Times Square area and this is by far our favorite! We've returned to it now several times. Fantastic staff, very friendly. The rooms are the largest of all the hotels we tried -- the double queens and the king rooms. Lobby is newly redesigned a couple of years ago and is spacious and comfortable. The bar staff is great. The late night cheeseburger from the bar was probably one of the best I've ever had (large, perfectly cooked, perfect cheese, perfect bread, crispy lettuce and tomato). The view is fantastic on either side, though the Empire State Building side is better. Rooms are quiet and very clean. The location, in my opinion, is the best one if you're there to see shows. It's a super close walk to the shows and restaurants so it's convenient to stop to refresh between matinee and evening show, but not right up on top of the noise of Times Square.
Looking for a top-rated hotel right in the heart of Times Square? The Hilton New York Times Square, located at 234 W 42nd St, is a favorite within the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category for many travelers. With its fantastic location, spacious rooms, and exceptional service, it's a prime choice for visitors from Taiwan looking for a memorable New York City experience.
Guests who have stayed at multiple hotels in the Times Square area consistently rank the Hilton New York Times Square as their favorite, often returning for repeat stays. A key highlight is the "fantastic" and "very friendly" staff, who contribute significantly to a positive guest experience. The hotel boasts some of the "largest rooms" compared to other hotels in the vicinity, particularly the double queen and king rooms, offering ample space for comfort.
The lobby was recently redesigned a couple of years ago and is now described as "spacious and comfortable," providing a welcoming atmosphere. The bar staff is also highly regarded. A notable mention is the late-night cheeseburger from the bar, which one guest claimed was "probably one of the best I've ever had," praising its generous size, perfect cooking, cheese, bread, and fresh toppings.
The hotel offers "fantastic views" from both sides, with the Empire State Building view being particularly preferred. Importantly, guests report that the rooms are both "quiet and very clean," ensuring a restful stay despite the bustling location. For those visiting to see Broadway shows, the hotel's location is considered "the best one," offering a super close walk to theaters and restaurants, making it convenient to refresh between matinee and evening performances without being directly amidst the noise of Times Square.
Transportation is also a major advantage, with the hotel's front door being just a short walk (around 400 ft) from the entrances to the 42 St-PABT (A/C/E lines) and Times Sq-42 St (1/2/3/7/N/Q/R/W/S lines) subway stations. This makes it incredibly convenient for navigating the city. Additionally, its prominent Times Square location means many attractions are within easy walking distance.
One guest who stayed in a "very clean and modern" 2-queen room on the 31st floor enjoyed a "great view over 42nd" and reported no issues with the elevators, which they found to be consistently quick, unlike their experience at another Times Square hotel. This guest highly recommends the Hilton New York Times Square.

Mar 23, 2025 · Kim JenningsGreat Hilton in an excellent location. The front door is only about 400 ft to the entrances of the 42 St-PABT A/C/E subway station and the Times Sq-42 St 1/2/3/7/N/Q/R/W/S subway station, making it very convenient for transportation. It's also within walking distance from a lot of things as well given its prominent location in Times Square. We stayed in a 2-queen room on the 31st floor, and had no complaints about the room; it was very clean and modern, and we had a great view over 42nd. There were also no issues with elevators; they always arrived very quickly, unlike another Times Square hotel I stayed in. Would recommend
Mar 17, 2025 · Garrett JobesMy husband came to NYC for a work trip and his work booked this hotel for him. I joined him for a mini vacation over the weekend and had a great experience here. Room was very clean and bigger than we were expecting. Housekeeping did a great job refreshing our room every day. We found the front desk helpful, especially when we wanted to try the subway for the first time to get to the Statue of Liberty. The location was amazing and very walkable to everything we wanted to see. The market was definitely pricey ($20 for two coffees seemed a bit extreme) but I suppose you are paying for the convenience. I would definitely stay here again! Since his work paid for the room I cannot comment on the room prices though. Speaking strictly on the location, cleanliness and comfort this was a 5/5 experience for sure.
Jan 15, 2025 · RachelBarely got any sleep because we kept getting woken up by the sounds of the loud pressurized flush of toilets above us and across multiple rooms. At first we thought it was construction noise outside but then realized it was actually the toilets! I even had noise cancelling earbuds in and could still hear them. If you're a light sleeper, this is not the place to stay. Other issues: - Room service is just ordering from their mediocre overpriced "market" - Bathroom has no towel bars. Have to use a single hook over the toilet, which is also the only spot for bath towels, or just leave your hand towels in a pile on the counter. - Amenities are very lacking - Bed is really hard and we could feel the springs. Likely worn out. - Was told it was $5 to hold bags downstairs. I have never experienced having to pay for bag holding at any hotel in all my years of personal and business travel. I don't often write negative reviews or nitpick about imperfections, but all of this added up to an experience I do not feel was worth it. The only good thing is the location, but there are plenty of other places to stay in NYC.
Feb 06, 2025 · Juli BissonMy flight was delayed and I arrived to the hotel after 8pm. The gentleman very apologetically informed me that the corner room I reserved was not available for the first night, but he could switch me for the next evening for the duration of the stay. Rather than changing rooms I requested a high floor with a view of the Empire State Building. I got it and the views and the light show were phenomenal. The location couldn’t be better, right next to Times Square and an easily accessible subway station within the same block. Throughout my stay, the entire staff from the folks in the cafe, door dudes, reception staff to the room attendants were nothing but kind and helpful. I was able to get a 1pm checkout with a staff member that was genuinely sad to see me go. Room is sizable - I ended up in an ADA room which thankfully as yet I don’t need. The bed may have been a little firmer than I like, but still ok. While the bar experience is fabulous, I wish this property could have a true full service restaurant. I received a coupon for a free breakfast. The buffet is overpriced and underwhelming. Had I had to pay 49.99 plus tax and tip, I would have opted for exactly wanted downstairs at Applebees for less than half. There is a nice convenience shop that has some basic deli sandwiches and desserts, but it is priced at a premium as well. The staff is really nice and engaging, however and I was able to use our diamond credits there with ease. The dinner menu is more of a bar bite selection (it’s good) and room service only delivers the available items from the shop. I’m sure there are reasons they don’t have one like most full service Hiltons ie space, mechanical limitations, etc, but man a nice full service restaurant would be key.
