Worst Experience Ever - Do NOT Stay Here I’ve never had a more frustrating experience at a hotel. I arrived at 3 AM on February 3rd, the correct date of my reservation, only to be told I couldn’t check in and that I wouldn’t be refunded. I spent nearly two hours trying to resolve the issue with the staff, but by 5 AM, I was still on the street with no room. To make matters worse, I offered to pay extra for an early check-in, but they refused. Meanwhile, a hotel directly across the street not only welcomed me right away but charged me less for the same night, and the room was larger and much more comfortable. I paid $600 for a 3-star property and was treated horribly—no help, no apology, just poor service all around. I was left stranded and with no support. I eventually canceled my reservation on my own and am still waiting for a refund, despite the fact that the hotel continues to refuse. If you want a hotel that actually cares about its guests, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This place is a joke. I will be pursuing legal action if my refund isn’t processed immediately.
Looking for a hotel in the Times Square area? Hotel Shocard, located at 206 W 41st St, is listed under the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category. However, recent guest reviews paint an extremely negative picture, with strong warnings against staying at this property. Travelers from Taiwan should be aware of the serious issues reported.
One guest titled their review "Worst Experience Ever - Do NOT Stay Here," detailing a severely frustrating situation. They arrived at 3 AM on the correct date of their reservation but were told they could not check in and would not receive a refund. Despite spending nearly two hours trying to resolve the issue with the hotel staff, they were left on the street with no room by 5 AM. This guest even offered to pay extra for an early check-in, which was refused. They contrasted this experience with a hotel across the street that welcomed them immediately for a lower price and a larger, more comfortable room. Having paid $600 for a 3-star property, they reported horrible treatment, no assistance, no apology, and overall poor service, leaving them stranded without support. They eventually canceled their reservation and are still awaiting a refund, with the hotel refusing to process it, leading them to consider legal action.
Another guest also strongly advised against recommending this hotel. While they acknowledged that the "location is good and the hotel staff is friendly," their positive comments ended there. They reported that the room they received was not the one they had booked and was "so tiny you could barely move around," with a similarly small bathroom. Furthermore, the lights in the bathroom and above the bed were not working. They were disturbed by music playing all night from a pub below the hotel and noted that the hallways "stink from the trash stored in the hallways!" Lastly, despite booking through Booking.com, they were asked for an unexpected $100 deposit upon arrival. Based on these issues, they concluded, "I definitely don’t recommend this hotel at all!!!!!!"
Given these overwhelmingly negative and concerning reviews, there is no reliable information available regarding positive aspects of the environment, services, or features of Hotel Shocard from these accounts. The issues highlighted include potential booking discrepancies, extremely small and poorly maintained rooms, noise disturbances, unpleasant smells, and unexpected charges.
There is no mention of any promotional information in these reviews, as the focus is entirely on the severely negative guest experiences.
In conclusion, based on the extremely negative recent guest reviews detailing issues such as denied check-in, unrefunded charges, tiny and poorly maintained rooms, non-functional amenities, noise, unpleasant odors, and unexpected fees, travelers from Taiwan are strongly advised to avoid booking a stay at Hotel Shocard. The reported experiences suggest a high risk of a very unsatisfactory and potentially distressing stay. It would be prudent to seek alternative and more reputable accommodations in the Times Square area to ensure a comfortable and trouble-free visit to New York City.

Mar 10, 2025 · Precious AlexanderThe room is smaller than I thought but again… this is New York. I had the chance to meet Cliff and Natalia… two beautiful and patient workers who made me feel like home, so nice and pleasant. For sure they made my time here worth while. Also, the bar was quick to get my order and also really nice. Would definitely recommend to my friends. Thank you specially Cliff and Natalia for being so nice to me!
Dec 28, 2024 · Matheus MauricioA small hotel, located close to Times Square. The entrance is also the entrance to an Irish pub that takes up the entire floor. They have food, drinks and live music. With that comes a big problem for guests at the second floor. The noise was unbearable but luckily the staff changed our room to the 6th floor the next day. The new room was good, but also had a REALLY loud buzzing noise. We though it came from the AC, but no. As it turns out, the building next door has a huge ventilation system that is super loud 24/7. After two sleepless nights we were getting upset, but the staff was very friendly and moved us again. This time to the front of the hotel. The new room was perfect. Location was amazing for exploring Manhattan. Walking distance to all the touristy stuff. Very friendly staff. This hotel would have got a better score if it had not been for the issues with the two first rooms, but the staff was very friendly and helped us change. Especially Isiah was extremely helpful, skilled and service minded. If you get the right room, this hotel is great 👍
Nov 24, 2024 · Tom Espen PedersenOther then the location, this hotel is disgusting in every aspect. The hallways are dirty everything is outdated, the staff are very rude and not professional whatsoever. You can’t even sleep because of the loud music down at pub, not family friendly whatsoever. The elevator barley works, the room light does not work. I had the worst stay ever, I highly do not recommend this hotel to anybody, it may seem like a cheap deal but it’s highly outdated and gross.
