This hotel was the perfect launching pad for our trip. So close to everything we needed and planned to do. And right next to all the attractions. The staff was amazing and friendly and very accommodating. Beds and rooms were comfortably appointed. No microwave in room but one in lobby. Breakfast vouchers were given for 2 persons each day and the hotel had very reasonable options both warm and cold. One difficulty was the elevators were having trouble, and when a 32+ floor elevator isn’t working, it can definitely put a hitch in your plan. There are 3 elevators used by guests and staff. At one point we were down to 1. Also be sure to carry your room key if you go down the stairs to the lobby floor. One stairwell opens directly to the street on the backside of the building so without the key to get in, you have to walk around the block :) Lots of homeless on one side of the building at night, but it’s hard to avoid that in a city
Looking for a perfectly situated hotel in the heart of Manhattan, near Times Square? Courtyard New York Manhattan/Times Square, located at 114 W 40th St, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category and is highly praised for its prime location and exceptional staff. Local users seeking a convenient base for exploring the city will find this hotel a compelling option.
Guests consistently describe this Courtyard as the perfect launching pad for their New York City trips, emphasizing its close proximity to everything they needed and planned to do, including being right next to numerous attractions. The staff is a standout feature, repeatedly described as amazing, friendly, and very accommodating, enhancing the overall guest experience.
The beds and rooms are comfortably appointed, ensuring a pleasant stay. While there isn't a microwave in the individual rooms, one is conveniently located in the lobby for guest use. The hotel provides breakfast vouchers for two guests each day, and the breakfast options are considered very reasonable, with both warm and cold selections available.
However, some operational challenges have been noted. Guests have experienced difficulties with the elevators, with only one of the three guest elevators functioning at times in the 32+ floor building, which can cause delays. Additionally, it's important for guests to be aware that one of the stairwells leading to the lobby floor opens directly onto the street on the backside of the building. Therefore, carrying a room key is essential to re-enter from this stairwell without having to walk around the block.
Like many urban locations, the hotel is situated in an area where homelessness may be visible on one side of the building at night, though this is acknowledged as a common challenge in a city environment.
Many guests have had exceptional check-in experiences, with staff members like Ada being specifically commended for being very welcoming, making the check-in and valet processes easy, providing thorough explanations, and even offering welcome bags. The hotel's location is consistently highlighted as perfect, putting guests in the middle of all the action.
For those looking to stay active, the hotel offers a good workout room. Additionally, there is a bar that hosts Happy Hour and provides food options. For the morning, the hotel offers breakfast along with Starbucks coffee. A potential promotional benefit mentioned by a guest is that AAA members may receive a discount on their rates when making a reservation. It is recommended to inquire about this and other potential offers directly with the hotel or through the Marriott booking channels.
In summary, Courtyard New York Manhattan/Times Square offers an ideal location and a reputation for amazing and friendly staff. Guests can expect comfortable rooms and reasonable breakfast options. However, potential elevator issues and the unique stairwell access are points to note. AAA members may benefit from discounted rates. Overall, it's a highly recommended option for those seeking a central and welcoming hotel experience near Times Square.

Mar 26, 2025 · Shannon PierceFirst time at this location for vacation and I would love to personally give a shout out to Ada. She was very welcoming and made the check in process and valet easy. She was very thorough and explained everything. She also provided us with two welcome bags. The location is perfect in the middle of all the action. Workout room is good and also has a bar for Happy Hour and food options. Also for breakfast offers food and Starbucks coffee. Rates were great for location if you are a member of Triple AAA when making reservation you will get a discount. Definitely plan to return for each visit check it out 🤗👍
Mar 28, 2025 · Monique MoormanCannot speak enough good things about this hotel! Great location, clean/nice rooms, EXCELLENT SERVICE! I took my 16 year old daughter on a mother/ daughter trip and stayed here. It was perfect! Close to so much sightseeing. Definitely recommend!
Mar 25, 2025 · Jessica BrockmanThis hotel was definitely the best hotel I’ve stayed in New York City. Great location, the rooms where such a great size, there is a bathroom in the room and that is what I liked the most about this hotel. The price is pretty high if you are looking in a low budget hotel, but the location, size and bathroom are definitely worth it. Note that to check in there has to be at least a person with 21 years
Mar 16, 2025 · luciana carlinLocation was perfect for exploring manhattan, right next to the subway station. The staff was friendly and the room was mostly clean. The bathroom however did not have a fully closing door. it was a barn house sliding door that doesn’t seal closed so it was not great for sharing a room with 3 people. The shower/tub combo also only had a half panel of glass to cover the tub, leaving the area you stand in completely exposed, and water splashing everywhere. Regardless of the bathroom situation, i still had a great experience at this hotel and would stay again, perhaps i would just request a room with a locking bathroom door.
