The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was fair, coffee was bad. The pool was good. The floor on the first floor was in bad condition that they daily chemical coated with something terrible smelling.
For local users searching "Hotels Near Of Me" in the scenic coastal town of York, Maine, the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham York, located at 6 Market Pl Dr, York, ME 03909, USA, positions itself as a straightforward and budget-friendly option. This hotel aims to provide essential amenities for travelers, particularly those exploring the popular attractions of the Southern Maine coast. However, an objective introduction requires acknowledging both its intended offerings and recent guest feedback regarding its current condition and service quality.
The environment of the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham York is primarily that of a roadside hotel designed for convenient access to nearby attractions. It is situated just off Interstate 95 and Highway 1, making it easily reachable for travelers by car. The hotel is located in a commercial area, offering proximity to various dining options and shops. While not directly on the beach, its location provides relatively quick access to York's popular beaches like Short Sands Beach and Long Sands Beach, typically within a short drive (3-8 miles). The general ambiance of the property, as indicated by recent reviews, suggests that some common areas like the check-in and breakfast areas appear "worn and tired," with "flooring coming apart and warped in many places." This indicates that while the location offers convenience, the internal environment may not consistently present a fresh or meticulously maintained appearance, leading to a potentially "pretty dirty" impression for some guests.
The services offered by Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham York aim to cater to the basic needs of travelers. A key offering is the "free continental breakfast," which is available daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and typically includes hot items like waffles, scrambled eggs, and sausage, along with pastries and fruit. However, recent guest experiences highlight significant issues with the breakfast quality, noting "extremely dry" and "hardened" food items, and often "bad" coffee. The hotel features an "indoor heated saltwater pool" and, previously, a hot tub, though recent reviews indicate the hot tub may be "permanently out of use." The pool itself is generally considered "good" by guests. Complimentary wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel, including in all guest rooms. The front desk operates 24 hours, offering convenience for check-in and assistance. Other services include free self-parking, laundry facilities (coin-operated), a business center with copy and fax services, and a vending machine. The hotel is a smoke-free property. While "helpful staff" is generally mentioned in some reviews, other feedback suggests a lack of attentiveness, particularly regarding breakfast refills or addressing guest concerns, implying an inconsistency in service levels.
The features of the accommodations at Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham York are designed for practical comfort. The hotel has 57 individually furnished rooms and suites, all of which are non-smoking. Standard amenities include private baths with a bathtub or shower and free toiletries, air conditioning (climate-controlled), heating, a flat-screen TV with premium cable channels (including HBO), free Wi-Fi, and a desk. Rooms also typically come with a phone for free local and long-distance calls within the continental U.S., free bottled water, and a hairdryer. Some rooms and suites feature a "refrigerator and microwave," offering added convenience for longer stays or for guests with specific dietary needs. Suites may include a sofa bed and a separate living area. The hotel provides blackout drapes/curtains and offers free cribs/infant beds and rollaway/extra beds (for a surcharge), making it somewhat family-friendly. However, recent guest reviews raise significant concerns about the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms. Specific complaints include "animal hair and stains on the sofa," "something sprayed on the pictures which are covered w plastic" and on the "tv screen," and "a 6 foot circle" on the floor causing "popping noises." Furthermore, issues like a "1 to 1.5 inch gap of light under the hall door" raising concerns about pests and general dirtiness ("kind of gross") are highlighted. While the "bed was comfortable" according to one review, the overall impression is that the rooms may not consistently meet cleanliness expectations. The hotel does offer accessible rooms, with specific features like braille/raised signage and wheelchair accessibility in public areas, including the business center and elevator, indicating an effort towards inclusivity.

May 15, 2025 · Donna BartoCheck in easy. The checkin and breakfast area are very worn and tired. I know it’s winter but it was pretty dirty and the flooring is coming apart and warped in many places. The room was surfacely clean but once we got looking around it was kind of gross. Animal hair and stains on the sofa. There was something sprayed on the pictures which are covered w plastic. Like someone shook up beer or soda in cans and blasted it all over. Even the tv screen. The middle of the floor had a 6 foot circle which if you stepped in caused popping noises I’m sure were more annoying to down stairs tenants. The bar stools covered w vinyl were completely covered in punctures and tears caused by some animal. In the night I heard a squeaking sound like a mouse in the room and that’s when I noticed there’s about a 1 to 1.5 inch gap of light under the hall door anything could get through. Using a flashlight around the area stopped the noise whatever it was. Hot breakfast was complete disappointment. The coffee was hot. The scrambled eggs were extremely dry and stuck to the pan. The sausage pucks were so dry and hardened I thought making a sausage sandwich was a good idea but it wasn’t worth it. I stayed here a few years ago and it was new and clean. It’s on it last legs already.
Feb 03, 2025 · FredThe staff was awesome, so friendly and polite. Remember this is a 2 stars. The room was clean. Pool is small but kids seem to have fun. No spa available. We were on the second floor and we could hear everything they do on the third floor. It was difficult to sleep in the morning, kids upstairs were running and screaming. This is normal but there is no isolation. Breakfast was missing everything like sausage, juice, plates, etc. They were not enough chairs. Still good for the price, the location is great. Lot of things to do in York.
Aug 18, 2024 · Sonia DuchesneauI suppose their non smoking policy does not apply to Marijuana because our room absolutely stunk. It was gross. Otherwise, the room was clean and well maintained. Our mattress was hard as a rock, which is pretty common. They had a hard time keeping up with breakfast and we had to wait for everything. All of the staff were very friendly. If we didn't have adjoining rooms, I'd have requested a different room due to the smell. Otherwise, I'd say it was good value for what we paid.
Aug 06, 2024 · Jon DiPietroWe got 2 rooms (large family) One of the rooms had a strong “pot smell” we thought the smell would go away… it stayed the whole time. Low water pressure. Pool was nice. Breakfast was decent. The young man was working very hard replenishing items. The coffee machine was down! We needed coffee!! That was disappointing.
