Sofitel New York

I booked this stay fairly last minute, redeeming a bunch of Accor ALL points as part payment for the stay. To my horror, upon returning home I noticed that I had been charged the rack rate, without deducting the value of the points. The points had been deducted from my account at the time of booking. I sent countless emails to the hotel, all of which went unanswered. The hotel only acted once I initiated a credit card chargeback, refunding the amount I had been overcharged to my credit card, without actually communicating this to me. I did not receive a single email response from the hotel. With regard to the hotel itself, the location and price were great. The hotel is dated and in dire need of an update. As a Gold member, I received no room upgrade or welcome amenity, which was disappointing. On the first night, I had major issues with noise - a clicking/rattling noise caused either by the elevators, the aircon or pipes. Upon chatting to reception about this in the morning, the front desk staff member told me "it is a known issue, and most people don't have an issue with it". Talk about rude and dismissive. I was eventually moved to another room, which had the same issue. I didn't bother reporting it again. Upon reading through other reviews, it appears I am not the first to experience rude staff at this hotel.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sofitel NYC, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcomed and valued. Eddie at check-in was particularly outstanding; his helpfulness and warm demeanor set the tone for my entire stay. The hotel's central location is a huge advantage, making it easy to explore all that New York City has to offer. I found the hotel to be impeccably clean, and the amenities were simply wonderful. Whether it was the fitness center or the dining options, everything was thoughtfully designed and easily accessible. Despite seeing some mixed reviews in a NYC group before my stay, I am left puzzled by the negative comments. My experience was nothing short of stunning! The views from my room were breathtaking, and the spacious accommodations were incredibly comfortable. The room was meticulously clean, and it was clear that the staff had thought of every detail to ensure a perfect stay. I wholeheartedly recommend Sofitel NYC for anyone looking for a luxurious and convenient stay in New York City. It truly exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to return!

Stayed for a couple of nights at the beginning of January, and it was a pleasure. This hotel is a real beauty. It’s one of the older ones but the rooms are still really nicely appointed and well equipped. The building is extremely conveniently located on a quiet street a stroll away from Times Square and Rockefeller Center, with a plethora of transport options available close by. The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable and available. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Location was superb! Unfortunately, we were disappointed by a few things. first off, there is - no breakfast- the resort fee Includes $25 off lunch or dinner at the Gaby Restaurant for room service. Additionally, the rooms were dated, but spacious. I will say the bathrooms were spacious, and very nice. They had a bathtub, which would be a treat for families traveling with small children. Overall, a nice stay. A breakfast option included in resort fee would be a great addition!

This is a beautiful hotel, but I will echo that of others that the rooms are quite outdated, lacking most basics - I feel like it needs renovation. I was also disappointed to find that there’s no laundry room available. The breakfast was really good, though quite expensive. My waiter was really attentive, and their crew seemed genuinely happy to be there, so props for that. All in all, it was nice to be in the heart of the city.
