“We Take Your Cash Deposit, But Won’t Remind or Return It!” — Scam-Like Tactics from Management. If you’re considering staying here, think twice. At check-in, the hotel required me to pay a cash deposit, but gave me no receipt or proof of payment. After leaving and returning to Canada, I realized they made zero effort to notify or return my deposit. When I reached out, I requested a simple bank transfer. Their GM, David Brown, flat-out refused, saying: “We’re a business, we can’t do that.” Even worse, he also told me: “Well, you are the one who left your money here, not us.” That’s the level of professionalism you can expect. He promised the check would be sent last Friday. Friday came, nothing. Then he promised Monday. It’s Monday now, still no confirmation. Just empty words, no action. Three weeks. Two broken promises. No accountability. Instead, he kept repeating how much “effort” they’re making while doing nothing. Frankly, I’m starting to believe this is part of their tactic — take cash without proof, count on customers forgetting, and avoid refunding unless chased repeatedly. Beware: • No receipt for cash deposit • No initiative to return deposit • Blame-shifting & gaslighting • Excuses over action • Terrible customer service masked behind “corporate” talk If you value honesty and responsibility, stay away.

Mar 18, 2025 · Nina LingThis is a perfect location. And the price is right for a stay in NYC. Subway is just around the corner. So many food, coffee, dessert options are in walking distance. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The patio was an added bonus. Staff were lovely. If you want a cozy clean spot away from the chaos but easy to get to it, I HIGHLY recommend The Allen Hotel. We Will stay again for sure.
Dec 02, 2024 · Carrie BarberAwful experience for Xmas time, I can’t believe it … the room didn’t have a working heating system in 20 degree weather. The staff only provided one small heater, bathroom was freezing and couldn’t use it for showering. We asked for a second heater that never arrived. The location is perfect but the hotel is avoid completely. There’s other hotels in the area for a similar price and suitable amenities. Multiple guests have also complained about the noise, lots of door slamming on a few floors, starting early in the morning at 7am or so. When we checked out guests on an upper (more expensive) floor were also complaining about getting woken up by loud noises from doors and other guests
Dec 24, 2024 · Daniela GrozaI recently had the pleasure of staying at The Allen Hotel, and I must say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, and I especially appreciated the professionalism of the general manager, David, who went out of his way to make sure every guest was treated with the utmost respect and care. What stood out to me was the way David interacted with all guests, regardless of background, with the same warm hospitality and genuine interest. It was clear that they value diversity and are committed to making everyone feel comfortable and at home. The Allen Hotel itself is beautifully well-kept, with clean, modern rooms and excellent amenities. But it's the culture of inclusivity and fairness fostered by the management that really left a lasting impression on me. I had a large family of varying backgrounds stay at the hotel, and every one of them was treated equally, with kindness and respect, regardless of the language barriers. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a positive, welcoming stay. I will definitely be returning!
Sep 18, 2024 · ZeeVery reasonably priced hotel, handy location, friendly staff. I did leave my smart watch on the bed by accident when I checked out almost two months ago and it has been impossible to get in touch with anyone from the hotel. I'm hoping this gets their attention.
