10/10 – A Truly Unforgettable Stay at The Coach House From the moment you walk in, the scent of The Coach House leaves an impression that lingers long after you’ve left—so much so, I had order their signature diffusers months later! The atmosphere is simply captivating. The property holds the rich history of a local Captain and his daughter Lizzy, who still graces the home—adding a unique and charming layer to the experience. Located at the perfect distance from the hustle of Salem’s Halloween crowd, it’s close enough to walk to downtown but tucked away just enough to enjoy a peaceful end to your day. The Coach House is family-owned, and the hospitality reflects that deeply. Marley, in particular, goes above and beyond. When the remote in our room stopped working, she didn’t hesitate to return with a replacement—her attentiveness and local knowledge truly enhance the stay. Every detail is thoughtfully curated, from the decor to the guest experience, and the setting is absolutely photo-worthy. Whether you’re visiting for the season activities or just passing through, this gem is not to be missed. Book the room—you won’t regret it!
Nestled at 284 Lafayette St, Salem, MA 01970, USA, The Coach House stands as a distinguished boutique hotel, offering a truly unique and highly-rated accommodation experience. When searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Salem area, The Coach House consistently emerges as a top choice for travelers seeking a blend of historic charm, modern comfort, and personalized service. You can connect with The Coach House by phone at (978) 219-6788 or mobile at +1 978-219-6788. This establishment is not just a place to stay; it's an immersive experience within a beautifully preserved piece of Salem's rich history.
One of the most enchanting aspects of The Coach House's environment is its connection to local history and, as some guests attest, a friendly resident spirit named Lizzy, the daughter of the original Captain. This unique, charming layer adds to the overall "captivating" and "magical" vibe, particularly appealing to those drawn to Salem's famous mystical reputation.
The location on Lafayette Street offers a perfect balance. It's "close enough to walk to downtown" Salem, meaning guests can easily access the city's bustling attractions, including the Salem Witch Museum, Peabody Essex Museum, and The House of the Seven Gables, within a 4-8 minute drive or a pleasant walk (around 15-20 minutes to most downtown spots, and about a mile to attractions like the Salem Witch Trials Memorial and Pioneer Village). Yet, it is "tucked away just enough to enjoy a peaceful end to your day," providing a tranquil retreat from the seasonal crowds, especially during peak times like Halloween. This strategic positioning allows guests to immerse themselves in Salem's vibrant energy while ensuring a restful and quiet stay.
While a small, boutique establishment, The Coach House offers essential modern amenities for a comfortable stay. Each of its eleven units is equipped with:
One distinctive service that sets The Coach House apart is its breakfast offering. Instead of a traditional dining room, guests receive a complimentary dining voucher for Jaho Artisan Coffee, with convenient locations at 130 Canal Street and 197 Derby Street. This voucher can be used towards anything on Jaho's menu, including coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or desserts, providing flexibility and a taste of local fare. Some older reviews also mention a "to-go breakfast" or "picnic basket breakfast delivered to the door," which suggests a varying approach to breakfast service, but the Jaho voucher is the current popular offering.
Parking is a valuable amenity in Salem. The Coach House offers free, on-site self-parking on a first-come, first-served basis in a parking pad behind the home. While it can be "a bit tight," especially for larger vehicles, it's a significant convenience. Street parking on Lafayette Street is also available at no additional cost if the on-site spaces are full.
The check-in process is designed for convenience, often being a "no-contact method" where guests receive a code via email 24 hours before arrival to access the inn and their room. Check-in typically begins at 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM.
The overwhelming sentiment is that The Coach House is a "gem" that should not be missed, whether visiting for seasonal activities (like Halloween) or simply passing through. The hotel's unique character, combined with its commitment to guest satisfaction, makes it a highly recommended choice for anyone looking for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Salem, Massachusetts, promising a luxurious and memorable stay.

May 06, 2025 · Stephanie Simonthe best place to stay in Salem!! I had such an amazing time at The Coach house! The vibes were so practical magic! the exterior of the hotel is a beautiful, fully restored victorian, whilst the inside is super comfortable. Even though the building was victorian, everything worked perfectly. just like new! The AC was so good, and you can get anywhere in Salem in about 4-8 minutes diving. can't wait to go back!
May 14, 2025 · Kayla FreitasPerfect place to stay in Salem. Within walking distance of downtown and many attractions. The house was amazing but the room was the best room I've stayed in. Not only on style, but in comfort. 10 out of 10. Check in and out is so easy and convenient and the concierge service was convenient. Would definitely go again.
Apr 27, 2025 · Carmen FrakesStaying at The Coach House in Salem was an unforgettable experience—where historic charm meets modern luxury in the best possible way. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with complimentary bubbles and decadent chocolates from Harbor Sweets—a small but thoughtful touch that set the tone for a truly special stay. Plus, my favorite chocolate shop in Salem! We stayed in the Queen Suite, which was both spacious and elegant. The memory foam mattress and Frette linens made for an incredibly restful night, and the spa-like bathroom was equally impressive, complete with cozy robes and luxurious toiletries. The location is also a major highlight. The Coach House is just minutes from Salem’s best shopping and dining, including charming boutiques and incredible chocolate shops - as you can see, yes I love chocolate. It’s the perfect home base for exploring the area while supporting local businesses. At the end of each day, returning to the quiet elegance of The Coach House was the best part. If you’re visiting Salem or the North of Boston region, this isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a boutique luxury getaway that perfectly blends history, design, and hospitality. Would absolutely stay again!
Feb 16, 2025 · Marnely MurrayHands down one of the coolest places I’ve ever stayed. It’s a historic 1800s mansion that’s been completely redone, but somehow they managed to keep all the charm while making it feel super modern and cool. It’s moody, cozy, and so unique. It’s in the perfect spot too; you’re just a few minutes from downtown Salem and all the witchy stuff (even the Hocus Pocus filming locations are right there), but it’s tucked away enough that it feels peaceful when you’re ready to crash. Also, the people who run it are so nice. Like you can tell they actually care that you’re having a good time and comfortable. I honestly didn’t want to leave. Already trying to figure out when I can go back. If you’re going to Salem, stay here. You’ll be obsessed.
