The Lafayette Hotel, located at 116 Lafayette St, Salem, MA 01970, USA, offers a distinctive type of accommodation experience in the historic city of Salem. Accessible by phone at (978) 745-5503 or mobile at +1 978-745-5503, this establishment operates somewhat differently from a conventional hotel, often catering to individuals seeking longer-term stays or residential arrangements rather than typical short-term overnight visits. Positioned within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, it serves a specific niche for local users who may be looking for more permanent or extended living solutions within the Salem area.
The hotel offers 60 rooms, each equipped with private baths and color televisions. Laundry facilities are also available on-site, a practical amenity for long-term residents. The business employs 8 people, suggesting a staff dedicated to managing the property and attending to the needs of its occupants. Unlike many conventional hotels, it does not appear to offer amenities such as a pool, pet-friendly policies, or dedicated parking, based on general online information.
It is crucial for potential guests to understand that the Lafayette Hotel's operational model differs from that of a typical short-term hotel. The primary focus seems to be on providing affordable and stable housing options. While it may appear in "Hotels Near Of Me" searches, users should be aware of this distinction in its service model.
Guest reviews provide direct insight into the realities of staying at the Lafayette Hotel. One significant comment states, "This is not a hotel that you go and just spend 1 night.. people rent the rooms there to live there." This clearly articulates the hotel's primary function as a residential establishment. It further explains that "it is always full," and potential residents "just never know when" a room might become empty, hence the suggestion to "call everyday to check if there's a room that's empty." This information is vital for managing expectations for any local user searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" with the Lafayette Hotel appearing in their results.
Another review offers a more critical perspective on the internal environment, describing issues such as "Drunks yelling at night" and the pervasive smell of "cigarette smoke and other things." This feedback indicates that the atmosphere inside the hotel might be less refined than what a typical tourist hotel offers, reflecting the challenges sometimes associated with long-term residential facilities that cater to a diverse range of occupants. Additionally, a comment about the front desk staff ("The female at the front desk is like talking to a wet paper towel not type of people skills rude!") suggests potential inconsistencies in customer service.
Therefore, while the Lafayette Hotel serves a function within the local community by providing accommodation at 116 Lafayette St, Salem, MA, its character is more akin to a residential building or a long-stay inn rather than a standard hospitality venue for short-term visitors. Local users considering this option through "Hotels Near Of Me" should be fully aware of these distinctions and the nature of its clientele and environment, as reflected in the direct feedback from individuals who have experienced the property. Its value lies in providing accessible living arrangements for those who need them in Salem.

Nov 16, 2024 · Maria GarciaThis place should be condemned. Drunks yelling at night reeks of cigarette smoke and other things. The female at the front desk is like talking to a wet paper towel not type of people skills rude!
Mar 15, 2024 · RoxanneThis place was more a motel and more a hostel in its environment. It was pricey for what was included but high rates are based on the location. While it was mostly tidey, smoking is allowed in the rooms. This means that all of your belongings will have the I odor attached. The accomodations are rooms and rooms only. Rates rise 100 quid for another traveller. Some rooms (which cost more) have a bathroom (with stand up shower) while others require the use of a shared bathroom in the extremely stained and filthy carpet lined hall. There was no thermostat, no microwave, no refrigerator, no table nor chair (to eat your take out). There was no common area for meal prep (cooking) nor can you do so in your room, it's not allowed. The room I had was up to date painted and had fairly new very low end carpet. And while I was on the top floor, I could still hear plenty of street level noise of traffic and at times voices. Only sometimes was I forced to listen to my neighbors' TV. Also, there was no elevator only tiny and oddly steep stairs. There was a coin operated laundry facility next door on one side and a small convenience store on the other side (and one across the street). There was a weekday housekeeping crew and management was helpful (if you asked) and polite. And of course, the main perk was that it was walking distance to everything. In conclusion, if you're limited on cash but need a place to stay, there you go. If you have an elaborate budget, than go find a real hotel. Note: the photographs someone posted are deceiving. Of ly the couple of picture s that show a plain room and a red brick building apply to this place.
Apr 23, 2018 · Dedi ContraThis is not a two star hotel. It's a by the month place and the rates found online have changed. It's now $1120 for a shared bathroom and $1440 a month to have your own bathroom. We ended up not renting.
