The Leo House

We stayed at the Leo house during the holiday season last month. The hotel is charming and has everything you would need here, the staff was very kind and helpful and check-in was easy enough. The rooms are decent for the pricing and also have everything you need, quite frankly we were content. The lobby is well kept and the bathrooms are cleaned frequently, I appreciated this. Overall, I would come back and stay here. They even attempted to help because I left something in the room prior, but there was only so much they could do. I appreciated their friendliness. You can also leave your luggage if needed after check-out. We didn't have the chance to check the breakfast out. It is super well located, the subway is at the corner, and you have restaurants and connivence stores easily accessible. They always answer the phone and are willing to help too. They have extra computers for you to use as well. Security is excellent, always someone at the desk willing to help.

Great stay, very kind and caring staff! They have great breakfast (for free, or against a donation!) more like in a 4 star hotel. And did I mention they have waffles 😋 Subway/metro is nearby, grocery’s, pharmacy, restaurants etc. Of course. Really the staff needs to be mentioned since they are so nice and caring. Hope to see you again. And a very good price to performance ratio (for New York)

I’ve just spent seven nights at Leo House in Chelsea, New York. Firstly the positives. The location is great, very close to lots of restaurants, Chelsea Markets, The High Line, 23rd St Subway and easy walking distance to Madison Square Gardens, Times Square, Empire State Building, Greenwich Village and so on. The hotel provides filtered water, ice machines, has a laundry and breakfast is part of the accommodation package. The breakfast was basic but sufficient. The lifts work well and the wifi is reasonably strong. We had a toilet within our room and accessed a shared bathroom which wasn’t an issue. In terms of safety, at no time did we feel unsafe entering or leaving the hotel. Our first two nights were in room 808 and it was extremely hot and uncomfortable and hot and made it difficult to sleep. We then spoke to the staff and they moved us to room 807 which had a different aspect and was much cooler and more comfortable. The staff on the front desk operated 24/7 and whilst most staff were friendly I must admit there were 1-2 that made my partner and I feel uncomfortable. Would I stay here again, not sure. The location is great but for roughly $250 AUD per night and given the basic accommodation, basic breakfast and the attitude of some staff I’m not sure.

I worked here maybe around 2021 & the women that work here are very jealous, weird & immature. They insulted me then tried to be nice all up in my face & I tried to keep my composure. They mocked how I spoke professionally to people even the old lady named Marilyn (I’m not even sure if she’s alive) but the manager Karina is the weirdest out of all of them. She told me “Don’t be dressing up for these men,” because I like to look presentable. She called me “hard hearing”because I had trouble understanding heavy accents because I’m not around people with deep accents. She left me and other workers to basically train ourselves to go eat and she was mad at me for “Not picking up on things quick enough” meanwhile she took forever to train me and only did twice afterwards and I picked up on it instantly and she didn’t help me with the rest of the things I had to learn, Someone else had to. Another girl had locked me out when my brother had got me lunch for work. I tried to make the person above Karina aware of it and nothing was done, except for me being fired. If her and the rest of the women are that insecure they should work on themselves internally and externally. Also one of the guys that worked there kept insisting that I sit in the dining room with him and I declined although he persisted and another man that worked there had said something to him & I thanked him. Yet this is supposed to be a “Catholic hotel?” The rooms have rats in it btw..🙃 Update: (Response to reply) I dressed professionally at this location, there was nothing sexual or unprofessional about my attire. I was actually complimented a lot & The women were Jealous and upset that I dressed nice and naturally draw attention. & we were left to train ourselves because there were other staff members complaining about the same issue & having to be trained by someone else other than Karina due to her lack of professionalism. As well as her leaving to go eat then be gone pretty much the whole day half of the time. When she was there at the desk beside me, she’ll constantly nitpick and micromanage me like crazy & cause me to mess up by being annoying. Hopefully something got done about this issue after I left. & to clarify the situation about “having difficulty understanding heavy accents” I was called “Hard hearing” By Karina because I asked a guest to repeat themselves and tried other forms of communication to try to better understand them like using Google translate. I was there for a “Few weeks” because I was fired out of spite, if the women were secure within themselves, I’m pretty sure I would’ve maintained that position. I’ve been promoted within 3 months or been offered promotions within 3 months at basically every job that I had & was constantly told to leave every job that I was at. As well as to be offered a higher position with higher pay if I stayed or to leave for a higher paying job. & I’ve been complimented on how quick I can pick up on things. I know my work ethic and skills & how they treated me is NOT how you run a company. & don’t think you’ll ever be blessed treating people that way with that bitter envious spirit.

Thank you Leo House, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. Like many wrote before it is quite simple, it is an old building but i doubt there is many better hotels in Nyc for this price. The breakfast was the best part! The location is perfect and staff very helpful. If anything negative it would the showers, we don't mind shared shower that is what we booked. But missed a modern hot-cold mixer and an adjustable shower head. Water was either to hot, cold, low or high pressure, spraying the wall. So shower took a long time. The other one on our floor was just a small bath tub, could not switch to shower. Telling you in good intentions, fixing this should save you some hot water and reduce water damage
