Ok, so this hotel is very expensive, so I can’t usually stay here when traveling for work (shoutout Hyatt Centric Times Square who will give you an awesome room if you’re a Globalist) but when using rewards travel or taking a long weekend in the city it’s typically our go to. My only critique would be that the rooms need a renovation (still nicer than most hotels) and I don’t like when hotels don’t put a door between the shower and bedroom but besides that it’s pretty much perfect 1: location is about as good as it gets for anything other than the financial district 2: hotel staff, especially front desk, are as good as it gets. They let us choose which room we wanted as a free upgrade (Globalist travel, but still, that never happens). Ended up with an amazing Andaz Suite! 3: one of the most comfortable beds you’re going to find in a hotel. This is a top priority for me as a light sleeper, but this combined with the motorized black out shades on all the windows I sleep amazingly every time. 4: for a mid size NYC hotel, they have a fantastic gym. It’s never crowded and all the equipment is brand new and very varied. Funny I’ve never seen a rowing machine with a 20” screen attached to it lol. 5: food, while not cheap, is way better than most hotels, even high-end. Also, having Globalist room delivered breakfast for free is amazing. 6: new TVs: this might not matter to you, but as a huge basketball fan being here during March Madness, this was huge.
Looking for a centrally located and stylish hotel in Midtown Manhattan? Andaz 5th Avenue, by Hyatt, situated at 485 5th Avenue at E 41st St, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category. Recent guest reviews offer insights into its prime location, comfortable accommodations, and varying experiences with service. For travelers from Taiwan planning a visit to New York, this hotel presents a mix of high praise for its amenities and location, alongside some concerns about service.
One frequent Hyatt traveler considers Andaz 5th Avenue their preferred choice for leisure travel using rewards or for long weekends in the city, noting that while it can be expensive for work trips (recommending Hyatt Centric Times Square for Globalists), it offers a near-perfect experience for other occasions. They highlight its location as "about as good as it gets" for most of Manhattan, excluding the financial district. The hotel staff, particularly the front desk, are commended as "as good as it gets," with a specific instance of being allowed to choose a complimentary room upgrade to an amazing Andaz Suite as a Globalist member. A major plus for this guest is the exceptional comfort of the beds, crucial for a light sleeper, enhanced by motorized blackout shades ensuring excellent sleep. The hotel also boasts a fantastic and well-equipped gym that is never crowded. While acknowledging that the food is not cheap, they find it "way better than most hotels," even high-end ones, and appreciate the free room-delivered breakfast for Globalist members. Lastly, they noted the presence of new TVs, a significant perk for a basketball fan during March Madness. Their only criticisms are that the rooms could use a renovation (though still nicer than most hotels) and their preference for a door between the shower and the bedroom.
In contrast, another guest reported significant shortcomings in "service, communication, attitude," noting a lack of courtesy from the front desk and guest support, even when being extremely nice and paying a high nightly rate. They felt that requests for service were met with unhelpful attitudes, as if the staff were doing them a favor. While they praised the "great cleaning and maintenance crew," their overall impression of the front desk and guest support was a lack of courtesy. They did concur that the "location is great."
As an Andaz hotel, guests can typically expect stylish design, locally inspired experiences, and included amenities like Wi-Fi and non-alcoholic beverages. The provided reviews mention complimentary breakfast for Globalist members but do not detail other specific promotions available to all guests at the time of these stays. Weighing the excellent location and amenities against potential service concerns is advisable when considering this hotel for your stay in New York.

Mar 22, 2025 · Jesse KrupocinService, communication, attitude and those things, are really missing… and when you ask for the service you get faces and attitude like someone doing you a favor… (even when you are truly extremely nice and paying 1,000$ a night.) Great cleaning and maintenance crew, but beside them (front desk and guest support…) in my opinion, lacking of courtesy. But hey, location is great.
Mar 23, 2025 · Guy GRNI stayed here for a week with my parents and it is the best experience I had in nyc. Everyone at the front desk were so welcoming and fantastic. Even before I entered the hotel, Renee was super friendly and welcoming with my request to switch to a room with better view. It was sad to leave honestly. The location is perfect. The accessories were divine, especially the fact that they have Dyson hair dryers. Shower is spacious and comfortable. Bar downstairs has best breakfast options I’ve seen. Essentially it has everything one would need. Would definitely stay again.
Feb 03, 2025 · Julia LiStayed here for a work trip. I chose the basic king room overlooking the "courtyard," thinking it would be quiet, and it was. I didn't need much in terms of service, but everything was smooth sailing. Would recommend.
Mar 23, 2025 · Daniel DeaconI stayed at the Andaz 5th avenue for one night and it was a fantastic experience. The check in process was quick and staff was friendly. Our room was a King Deluxe and it was very spacious and clean, and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. I slept very well. We also ordered in room breakfast, the order came very quickly and the food was great. I will definitely be back.
