Holiday Inn Express New York City - Chelsea by IHG

This review is very close to a 5 star. Value is outstanding, the rooms are spotless, the staff are okay. Two areas need improvement. First, you NEED to either extend the breakfast area by having an outside tent with heaters during winter and or extend the fixtures out permanently because the restaurant is so crowded we often had nowhere to sit. Either that or a crowd control measure by allocating different eating times to certain rooms. You could also improve it by having better takeaway friendly plates and cups to allow people to carry stuff to the room without spilling. Overall breakfast was basic but hearty and filling. Good protein options. The other major issue I had was NOISE. You need better signs warning guests not to yell when they come out of the lifts. Also soundproof rooms near lifts better and add soft close mechanics to doors so they cannot be slammed! There’s no point in having nice rooms if I can’t sleep in them due to constant slamming of doors and people yelling in corridors. Other than that I was very pleased with my stay here.

The breakfast area is crazy small for a hotel of that size. It took me 20min to get downstairs in the elevator Sunday. The official capacity is 8, but with luggage, that really means 5-6. It is entirely too small and slow for people + luggage! The walls are thin too; you can hear everything happening in the hallway and rooms on other sides of you even at midnight. I stayed here over the weekend for 2 nights before moving a block away. Upon booking, I had requested a fridge due to medical reasons, and when I dropped my bag off at noon, I reminded the receptionist of this fact and stressed why it was important. At 6:30 when I formally checked in, one was not in my room. I waited over two hours for it to be delivered and then of course it took longer to get cold. That was completely unacceptable and ruined my evening. It frustrated me to still have to pay an amenities fee after this.

FANTASTIC PLACE.. So with reading reviews I was expecting the worst but I was so wrong. People who put this place down I dunno wats wrong with yous. If your looking to star hotels well pay it but rooms were clean staff were extremely helpful and kind both lifts were perfect. Yes the breakfast changes everyday but as I say u want 5 star hotels pay it but in my eyes this place it perfect Thank u

The rooms were a standout—clean, spacious, and well-designed with plenty of room to spread out and relax after a day in the city. I especially appreciated how comfortable and quiet it was, which is a huge plus when staying in a busy area like Chelsea. If you’re looking for a convenient, stylish spot that combines comfort with an unbeatable location, the Holiday Inn Express Chelsea is a great choice. I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next trip!

The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The room was small as are most hotel rooms in the city unless you stay at a luxury hotel. There were two elevators, one wasn't working. The one that did work was iffy. It didn't always stop at your floor. There was no hot water on one of the days we were guests, therefore, no shower availability. The room phone wasn't working. The elevators did get fixed while we were. The hot water issue was a problem because it was our check out day and we didn't get showers, that morning. Wifi was good.
