I stayed at Hotel Hugo in the Hudson Yards neighborhood of NYC in February 2025. One of the selling points of this hotel for my trip was the Double - Double options, allowing for up to 4 guests per room. This was perfect for a girls weekend, and would also accommodate families well. Rooms were spacious (by NYC standards), very clean, and updated. The biggest surprise about this hotel is how QUIET the property is! For NYC we couldn't believe how little street noise, or even interior noise there was. Our room looked right out over Greenwich Street and we were never disrupted by city noise. The location is phenomenal, providing walking distance to both Soho and West Village. There is a cafe on the main level that offers complimentary coffee, iced coffee, and iced tea to guests during their stay. We also took advantage of the full cafe menu several times throughout our staying, and all the food was great. Another main selling point for this property is the fully enclosed rooftop bar, offering Hudson River and city views. This was such a fun option at night! We loved our stay at Hotel Hugo, and I definitely hope to be back.
Looking for a hotel in a convenient downtown location that offers a surprisingly quiet retreat? Consider Hotel Hugo, situated at 525 Greenwich St in the Hudson Square neighborhood of NYC. As part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category, Hotel Hugo offers easy access to both SoHo and West Village, making it a compelling option for local users seeking a well-located base for exploring the city.
One of the standout features of Hotel Hugo, according to guest reviews from February 2025, is its unexpected tranquility. Despite its New York City location, guests were impressed by the minimal street and interior noise. Rooms facing Greenwich Street reportedly remained undisturbed by city sounds. The hotel also offers Double-Double room options, making it suitable for up to four guests, ideal for group getaways or families.
Guests have found the rooms to be spacious (by NYC standards), very clean, and updated. The hotel also features a cafe on the main level that provides complimentary coffee, iced coffee, and iced tea for guests throughout their stay. The cafe also offers a full menu with well-received food options.
Another major highlight is the fully enclosed rooftop bar, which boasts views of the Hudson River and the city skyline, providing a fun and scenic option for evening enjoyment.
However, some guests have reported less positive aspects. One significant issue mentioned in a review was the lack of hot water in the shower, with the front desk staff allegedly acknowledging it as a known problem without offering a resolution. Another guest found the rooms to be incredibly small and noted a lack of privacy due to noise from neighbors and the elevator. The view from some rooms was also described as a brick wall.
On the positive side, this guest also noted the hotel's cleanliness and its convenient location near SoHo shops. However, they concluded that for the price, they expected better comfort and more attentive staff, suggesting that there might be better options available in the area.

Feb 20, 2025 · Connie NorwellA Disappointing Stay with Some Upsides The biggest issue? NO HOT WATER IN THE SHOWER. After a long day, a hot shower should be a given, but not here. When I brought it up to the front desk, I was met with a shrug and a casual, “Yeah, we’ve been hearing that from a few guests.” No real effort to fix the problem, which was frustrating. The rooms are incredibly small—definitely not ideal if you like a little space. Privacy is also lacking; you can hear your neighbors, the elevator constantly dinging, and doors opening and closing all night. As for the view? Mine was a brick wall, so don’t expect much there. On the plus side, the hotel was clean, and its location near SoHo shops was convenient. But overall, for the price, I expected better. There are likely better options in the area that offer more comfort and a more attentive staff.
Feb 16, 2025 · J GThis place is perfect. The room is good enough and it has a lamp, a bed, a tv, a sink with many products to help with cleaning, and a shower with soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Next part is the staff. They are incredibly nice. The hotel also has a gym and a place to eat. There is also a bar at the top and a rooftop with great views. The location is great since it’s between central Manhattan and lower Manhattan. So it’s close to many famous places and close to subways. This was a great hotel for my vacation to New York City. You should try this hotel.
Dec 15, 2024 · Jayden RiveraI was expecting more from an expensive 4 star hotel in Manhattan. The room heater did not work during an Arctic freeze week. I told the receptionist who said they'll fix it, but they never got back to me, and it was not fixed. There are only 2 elevators for 19 floors and it can get hectic in the morning. Especially when they decide to clean the inside and press every floor while wiping the board at 8 am. What were they thinking?? Also, my room door did not shut properly and I left my room open an entire day. The bed was very comfortable
Jan 25, 2025 · Alon BWe’ve hosted a private event at Bar Hugo for three years running, and it’s been an exceptional experience every time. The views are stunning, the service is top-notch, and the pricing is great for what’s offered. The food and beverage options are always perfect for our group of 75, and the team is consistently accommodating and professional. There are never any surprises, and everything runs smoothly. We’ll definitely continue hosting here in the future – Bar Hugo is our go-to venue! Highly recommend.
