There are multiple excellent hotels that are in the New York City area. We go to Hyatt for Consistent delivery of expectations. , courteous, smiles and welcoming. This was not the case when we first checked in we were checking in. We told Doorman we were checking in there was no one really getting our luggage but someone finally did . No one opened the door and actually knew that we were coming or did a welcoming greeting. When we checked in the original bellman that was supposed to take our luggage and we just ended up taking our own luggage up to our room.

Hyatt Grand Central New York Introduce

Looking for a hotel directly connected to Grand Central Terminal in New York City? Hyatt Grand Central New York, located at 109 E 42nd St, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category. Recent guest reviews present a stark contrast in experiences, with one regular Hyatt guest noting a decline in service upon arrival, and another former loyal guest detailing a severely negative stay with numerous significant issues. Local users should carefully consider these recent perspectives.

One guest, who typically chooses Hyatt for its consistent delivery of expectations—including courteous and welcoming service—reported that their recent check-in experience at Hyatt Grand Central was not up to par. They noted a lack of assistance with luggage upon arrival, despite informing the doorman they were checking in, and the absence of a welcoming greeting. They ultimately ended up taking their own luggage to their room.

In a much more critical review, a guest who had previously considered this their favorite hotel due to its central location (last visited in 2017) recounted a "nightmare" stay while celebrating their 30th birthday. The extensive list of complaints included: a very dark room with missing lights, forcing them to use the closet for illumination; a lack of pillows and blankets despite extremely cold weather (20 degrees Fahrenheit) with the hotel claiming to have none available over four nights; a broken and unsealed window allowing cold air in and compromising privacy from an office across the way; a broken heater in the cold room; a constant and disgusting smell of marijuana in the hallways with no action taken by the hotel despite multiple complaints; a lack of basic amenities (only one baby shampoo provided, requiring the guest to take more from a maids' cart); and a faulty showerhead that was very difficult to operate. This guest concluded that the hotel should no longer be considered a 4-star property, citing the need for better staff training in attentiveness, responsiveness, and customer service, stating that the staff does not care about customer needs. They strongly advised others to avoid this hotel, with the exception of the individuals checking cards at the entrance and exit, who were noted as the only friendly staff encountered.

The provided reviews do not contain information about specific promotional offers at the time of these stays (February 2025 and an unspecified recent date). For direct bookings or inquiries about potential promotions or World of Hyatt benefits, you can contact Hyatt Grand Central New York at (212) 883-1234 or +1 212-883-1234. For the most up-to-date information on offers, it is recommended to check the hotel's official website or the Hyatt booking platform.

In conclusion, while Hyatt Grand Central New York benefits from an exceptional location directly at Grand Central Terminal, recent guest feedback raises significant concerns about service consistency and the condition of the hotel, with reports of maintenance issues and a lack of basic amenities. Local users should carefully weigh these recent negative experiences alongside the hotel's prime location when considering a stay.

Please listen closely! This was my third time staying at this hotel and it will be my last. This used to be my favorite hotel as it’s centrally located. Last time I was here was in 2017 and everything went smoothly. This time I came to celebrate my 30th birthday and it was a nightmare. Let me tell you all that went wrong: 1. No light- room was so dark and had missing light I had to change and do makeup in the CLOSET as it was the only place with light that you could see things. 2. No pillows or blankets!!! I was with friends and it was so embarrassing. They didn’t want to stay here to begin with since the price is steep but I had such a good experience in the past I decided to book again…. BIG MISTAKE. It was 20 degrees and so so cold in NYC when I was there we called the lobby all 4 nights and they said sorry we don’t have any WHAT? For a Hyatt that I paid $250 plus to stay at was insane. 3. Window broken- The window was broken and not properly sealed so the cold NYC air was coming inside the whole time…. Also, there was an office across the room and if you don’t close the curtains they can see everything. 4. Broken heater: like I said it was COLD and the heater was broken… 5. Halls smelled like Marijuana at ALL TIMES. It was disgusting and the hotel did not care after my multiple complaints. 6. No amenities: They gave us only one baby shampoo and I had to go to the maids carts and take what I needed. 7. Shower issues: The head would not turn and you had to pull all your might to get it to work. The location might be nice but it should not be considered a 4 star hotel anymore. Staff needs better training to be attentive, responsive and not rude to clients. The entire staff there does not care about customers needs what so ever. The people who check your card as you enter and leave are the only friendly people here if even. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT COME HERE.

This is probably the worst Hyatt I have stayed in the past five years. I have stayed in hotels in tier three Chinese cities that are nicer. The shower floor is dirty. The rooms have barely any insulation between the walls. There is no complimentary coffee or tea. The lightswitchs and outlets don't make sense. The only upside is the bed is nice and the location is good. That is it.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Lack of Customer Service and Accountability My recent stay at this hotel was, without a doubt, the most disappointing hospitality experience I have ever encountered. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that customer service was not a priority. Any attempt to seek assistance was met with indifference, and no member of the staff demonstrated a willingness to help. Multiple issues I experienced went entirely unaddressed, with no support offered. Even Expedia attempted to intervene on my behalf, but the hotel repeatedly disconnected the call upon realizing who was calling. This level of unprofessionalism is simply unacceptable. I stayed in the Presidential Suite, which, while aesthetically pleasing, had several functional issues. The television did not work, and the air conditioning unit was excessively loud—akin to being in a construction zone. Despite numerous calls to the front desk throughout the night, no one ever answered. When I personally went down to request assistance, I was assured that someone would be sent to resolve the issue, yet no action was taken. I am currently working with Expedia to secure a refund; however, they, too, have been unable to reach anyone at the hotel to approve the request. For anyone considering staying here, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The complete lack of customer support and accountability makes this property one to avoid. **** I have left a message with the manager on duty this morning 3/9/25 at 9:45am central. We will see if they do anything to make this right****

Very basic. Comfortable bed. They had no extra pillows. I left a bag of souvenirs and immediately called and they said the housekeeping staff didn't turn anything in. So beware there are definitely not the most honest of people employed there. But it was conveniently located to Times Square and in NYC that seems like the most important thing.
