I was invited to book a short stay at the MVC for a reduced fee, if I agreed to sit through a sales presentation. I was reluctant, but agreed, and booked the trip. Upon booking, I was talked into this location because of the fantastic upgrades that had recently occurred, included a rooftop bar. I imagined enjoying some pre-dinner or possibly even late night cocktails there, so I locked in my trip at MVC, NYC. Well...I guess I shouldn't have gotten too excited. We arrived on Sunday, and left Wednesday, and the rooftop bar was closed the entire time!! SO DISAPPOINTING!! Then, to make matters worse there were some other issues I'd like to share so that you can make an informed choice as to whether or not this is the place for you. The lighting in the room was dismal. Even when every light was on, things felt very dark at night...so if you're traveling with two people...you might want to bring a make up mirror. There are also only two elevators that serve not only the hotel guests, but also are used by staff members cleaning, bringing luggage to the rooms, and perform basic maintenance. To be clear, every employee we encountered was very kind about "waiting for the next elevator", but there was never a time...day or night...when we jumped right on to the elevator...there was always a wait. Our room was well cleaned, but the second night we were there, we returned after 11 pm to find that the maid had opened our windows, and did not close them again upon departing! The room was FREEZING! And although the staff was friendly, there was one grumpy employee who I encountered on several occasions who seemed bothered when I asked for bottled water, or any other simple request. Then, on our last evening, I politely asked if I could have two bottles of water on the way up to the room. She did not respond. Thinking she hadn't hear me, I very politely asked again. She rudely said, "I heard you, we're out." WOW. I do not think I'll be visiting again.

Marriott Vacation Club, New York City Introduce

Looking for a stay in Midtown Manhattan? Marriott Vacation Club, New York City, located at 33 W 37th St, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category and offers vacation ownership accommodations, sometimes available for short-term stays under specific conditions, such as attending a sales presentation. Local users considering this option should be aware of mixed guest experiences.

One guest who booked a short stay at a reduced fee with the agreement of attending a sales presentation was drawn to the location due to advertised recent upgrades, including a rooftop bar. However, they expressed significant disappointment as the rooftop bar was closed for their entire three-night stay. This highlights the importance of verifying the availability of specific amenities before booking.

Several other issues were noted by this guest. The lighting in the room was described as dismal, even with all lights on, suggesting it might be insufficient for tasks like applying makeup without a personal mirror. The hotel has only two elevators serving both guests and staff, leading to frequent and sometimes lengthy waits at all times of the day. While most staff encountered were kind about the elevator waits, the inconvenience was consistent.

On a more positive note, the room was reported to be well cleaned. However, an incident occurred where housekeeping opened the room windows and did not close them upon leaving, resulting in a freezing room upon the guests' late-night return. While the staff was generally friendly, this guest also encountered one grumpy employee on multiple occasions who seemed bothered by simple requests, including a rude denial for bottled water on their last evening.

In contrast, another guest reported a positive experience, finding the staff very nice and accommodating. They particularly appreciated the complimentary hot cocoa bar during cold weather and the consistently hot water, which they found superior to other NYC hotels. This guest also noted the hotel was quiet with a view of the Empire State Building and within a good walking distance to the subway and Madison Square Garden, considering it fairly close to everything around. They indicated they would definitely stay again.

The provided reviews do not contain information about specific promotional offers available to the general public. The reduced fee mentioned was tied to a sales presentation. For local users interested in booking a stay at Marriott Vacation Club, New York City, it is recommended to inquire directly about availability for non-members, any potential short-term stay offers, and the current status of amenities like the rooftop bar. Contacting them at (212) 448-1024 or +1 212-448-1024 would be advisable. Checking the official Marriott Vacation Club website may also provide information on rental options and any applicable promotions.

In summary, Marriott Vacation Club, New York City offers a potentially convenient location with generally nice staff and some appreciated amenities. However, prospective guests should be aware of potential issues such as the rooftop bar's availability, room lighting, elevator wait times, and inconsistencies in staff demeanor based on recent guest feedback.

The staff was very nice and accommodating. It was very cold outside so the complimentary hot cocoa bar was really a godsend. Water was gloriously HOT which was much needed (unlike other hotels I've stayed in in NYC where it took the water 15+ minutes to get remotely warm). The hotel was quiet with a view of the Empire State Building. A good walk to the subway and Madison Square Garden. Was fairly close to everything around. Would definitely stay again.

1st trip in NY and it was a great trip because of the location of this hotel. I would definitely stay here again. Staff were so polite and helpful. Walking distance from Time Square. Great restaurants in the area. The rooftop was amazing with the live music. Celebrated my birthday and was provided a happy birthday balloon with a bottle of champagne. Lots of activities at that property. Rooms are small but that is NY. Thanks for making 1st trip to NY a blast!

This was the cheapest Marriott in midtown New York when I visited. The rooms are clean, modern, and simple - they are smaller than other Marriott rooms you may be used to but average for Manhattan. The only two negatives that I would point out are that the room did not have a desk for my computer and in didn't like the soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Overall, a good value.

I travel for work to NY frequently. My group had stayed at another Marriott property but felt unappreciated for the volume of nights I stayed per year. My team and I switched to this hotel and could not be happier. We feel appreciated and the customer service is exceptional. A special shout out to Ringo in the lobby bar. He consistently is going above and beyond to create an exceptional experience for us. Looking forward to my 2025 trips in NY.
