Great location! My husband and I came to NOLA for the first time and wanted to avoid the hotels like Holiday Inn, Hamptons, etc and the Catahoula exceeded our expectations! The location is wonderful! French Quarter isn't too far of a walk away at all! You do need to find parking, but there is a lot a street up and the rates are phenomenal!! We don't require much and we've stayed in super high class hotels, to some scummy ones, and this was so perfect. The room is small, yes, but the bathroom is a great size, the bed is actually the most comfortable bed we've slept in!! The elevator didn't work, but that's not a big deal... also, the TV does work (despite the negative reviews about the TV), you need to play around with it and be patient. The gentleman at the desk was beyond kind, and everything is so clean! Keep in mind, this building was built in the 1800s, but it's a great place to stay and the price was even better!!

For us, the people of Louisiana, Catahoula New Orleans isn't just another hotel; it's a perfectly tailored experience that caters to our desire for authenticity, convenience, and a genuine taste of our beloved city. We often seek out unique, local spots that embody the true spirit of New Orleans, and Catahoula delivers exactly that, steering clear of the generic chain hotel experience.
First and foremost, its location is a dream for anyone wanting to explore without the fuss. Being just a "short walk" to the French Quarter means you can enjoy the vibrant energy, live music, and incredible food scene whenever the mood strikes, then retreat to a more peaceful, yet still centrally located, haven. This accessibility is a huge plus for locals planning a weekend getaway or a spontaneous night out in the city.
Beyond the location, the hotel itself offers a charming and comfortable stay. We appreciate the character of an "old historic building" that tells a story, yet provides modern comforts like "great AC" and, as many have found, "the most comfortable bed." The "super cute balcony" in many rooms is an added bonus, perfect for sipping coffee in the morning or enjoying a nightcap while soaking in the city's atmosphere, truly feeling like a part of New Orleans.
The friendly and accommodating staff, as highlighted by multiple guests, ensures a welcoming environment where you feel valued and cared for – a hallmark of Southern hospitality that we locals deeply appreciate. And let's not forget the "phenomenal" parking rates nearby and the "excellent value" for the price, making a staycation more affordable and appealing.
In essence, Catahoula New Orleans provides a cozy, authentic, and conveniently located base for us to rediscover the magic of our own city. It’s perfect for a romantic escape, a cultural immersion, or simply a refreshing change of scenery, all while feeling distinctly "New Orleans." May 24, 2025 · Nina MathesonThis hotel was so cute! We had no trouble booking with Jordan’s help, and it was in such great walking distance to the French Quarter. Lots of great spots around here. The rooms were a little underwhelming, ours didn’t have a mini fridge or daily housekeeping, but it did have great AC and a super cute balcony. Great for a couple and excellent value!
Mar 16, 2025 · Madeline ErdmanWe arrived to an empty lobby and unmanned reception desk around 9pm the night of our reservation and waited fifteen minutes before any staff showed up to check us in. The woman who checked us in was very nice and apologetic, admitting she was the only staff on that night. The lobby was very clean and aesthetic, but our room was garbage. The room was on the ground floor, only large enough to accommodate a bed adjacent to a shower and a partitioned off toilet. There was no ventilation for the shower and the window was nailed shut, so the room stank heavily of mold. The smell was so overwhelming we asked for a room change but none were available. We made it one night and promptly left in the morning, we will not be returning.
Mar 16, 2025 · Nick DouganMy wife and I recently attending a family wedding in New Orleans. While we didn’t stay at Catahoula we did enjoy a buffet style meal here. We also enjoyed the bar. Overall it’s a very eclectic boutique hotel who did a very Nice job of hosting the pre-wedding family celebration. The food was very tasty and very authentic Cajun and creole. cooking. The bar is fairly small and not really equipped to handle a big crowd. The rooftop area is lovely and our family used it for the pre-wedding meal as well a venue for taking wedding photos.
May 13, 2025 · Andy MorraIt was a horrible experience. I arrived and was taken to two rooms that looked nothing like the pictures. There was water leaking on the floors, the air conditioning didn’t work, it smelled bad, and the TVs didn’t work. I asked for a refund, and they said I would receive one. It has been around two weeks, and I have yet to receive my refund. I called to ask for assistance and was told they were “trying to reach out to me,” but no one has contacted me. When I called again, I was told it was a holiday and to allow 5–7 business days. I was also told I would receive an email—but none of that has happened. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED
