I had a great stay at the Courtyard Marriott Financial District. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of FiDi and close to multiple subway lines, making it easy to get to Midtown, Brooklyn, and beyond. The hotel itself is super clean and modern, with well-maintained facilities and a comfortable atmosphere. I was surprised by so many negative reviews, as I’ve stayed here twice and had positive experiences both times. Yes, the rooms are on the smaller side, but that’s completely normal for NYC. The elevators weren’t an issue, and for the price, I felt the value was excellent—reasonable rates for a well-run, well-located hotel. Would definitely stay again!

The staff was rude and lacked any sense of customer service, making the experience far from friendly or welcoming—even as a Platinum Elite Marriott member. I’ve stayed at numerous Marriott properties, and this was one of the most disappointing experiences. The hotel room was adequate, but there was no body wash in the shower, and the sink was clogged, requiring me to call and wait for assistance. These issues were frustrating and could have been easily avoided. Additionally, I was not offered the customary gift bag or Platinum member points. To make matters worse, I noticed another guest being given a gift bag and complimentary breakfast tickets (maybe because they’re white) while I was told they had run out. Even basic requests were denied. Upon checkout, I asked for a copy of my bill, only to be told it had been emailed to me, which I never received. The staff seems to lack proper training in customer care, which significantly impacted my stay. Overall, our four-day stay felt like a waste of money. I cannot recommend this hotel and would strongly suggest Marriott reviews its service standards here.

Our family of four recently stayed here for two nights, and given the price, we had expected a bit more. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of even basic standards. Upon arrival, we found only three towels for the four of us. When we tried to call for more, we realized the phone in the room wasn’t working. After a long day of travel, having to use our personal phones to locate the hotel’s contact information was inconvenient. To make matters worse, there was no soap in the shower, so we had to make yet another call and wait for assistance. The situation was frustrating and entirely avoidable. The room’s layout added to our discomfort. The vents were positioned directly above the bed, blowing cold air on our necks all night, leaving us stiff and sore in the morning. When we shared our concerns with the front desk at checkout, the response was indifferent, which only added to our disappointment. In short, this hotel failed to provide the bare essentials—clean towels, basic toiletries, and a comfortable place to rest. We felt as though our money was wasted, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Rude staff, with no sense of customer service or making the experience friendly and pleasant, even when a platinum customer As a platinum elite Marriott customer I have stayed in many Marriott brands. While the hotel room was ok, I was near the elevator and asked to move. There was no effort made to accommodate even though I arrived early evening and we all know that clearly not all rooms were used. Even the simplest of requests are denied. The gift bag consisted of a bag of chips and 1 water bottle. When I asked to get a different brand of chips , they said this is what they gave out while I was looking straight at their tiny market where many chip options were available. You would have thought they could have made a change, especially after they could not accommodate the room change. A small gesture that would have been appreciated. The team needs training in customer care.

Think twice before staying here. My husband and I spent a weekend at this place. If you appreciate your time, money and dignity I would stay away from this place. On the last night of out WEDDING TRIP we were locked out of our room at midnight because the door card reader was dead. The front desk had no access at all to the control room to unlock the room. We were moved into a temporary room without access to out belongings nor to my chronic illness medication. After spending an awful night we were told we could go back into our room at 5am. We gathered our things and decided to take a nap to recover from the awful night we had. In the middle of the morning, cleaning crew walked in unannounced because there was a lack of communication between front desk and them. Apparently they had indicated our room as vacant. We had to endure the embarrassment of being naked in front of a stranger because of their poor service and attention to detail. Finally at out check out I discussed the specific with front desk manager and Understood they were going to refund 50% of our stay and the other 50% would be handles by expedia. When I reached out this week via email and phone the management confirmed they will only refund the last night os stay regardless of the awful situation and the embarrassment they caused. This is by the far the worst experience I have ever had staying at a Marriott in NYC.
