Location, location, location!!!! I had a decent time at this hotel . Extremely close to attractions and day to day needs. I unfortunately was charged for a cancellation but still stayed at the hotel and the “manager” denied my request for a refund. This was extremely disappointing and the staff didn’t make it any better either with their short and snappy attitudes. The showers were a bit weird considering it had no door. All in all, it was a fair trip but the location can’t be beat. I did enjoy the view from my room. I might recommend this location in future.
Looking for a hotel with a prime location near Times Square in New York City? Delta Hotels New York Times Square, situated at 340 W 40th St, is part of the 'Hotels Near Of Me' category and boasts an excellent location. However, recent guest reviews present a mixed picture of the overall experience, which local users should carefully consider.
The hotel's location is consistently highlighted as its strongest asset, being extremely close to major attractions and the day-to-day needs of travelers. Its proximity to Times Square makes it a convenient base for exploring the city. One guest mentioned that the location can't be beat and they enjoyed the view from their room, suggesting they might recommend it in the future.
The rooms at Delta Hotels New York Times Square are described as big and clean, with super comfortable mattresses, which are positive aspects of the stay. However, some functional aspects of the rooms have been criticized. One guest found the showers to be "a bit weird" as they had no door.
Several concerns have been raised regarding the hotel's services and staff. One guest reported being charged for a cancellation but still staying at the hotel, and their request for a refund was denied by the "manager," which they found extremely disappointing. They also noted that the staff had short and snappy attitudes. Another reviewer mentioned that personnel outside of the reception area made them feel unwelcome.
Comfort within the hotel has also been an issue for some guests. The windows were reported to not effectively keep out cold air or noise throughout the night, which could be disruptive, especially given the hotel's proximity to the always-busy Times Square area.
The hotel has more than 30 floors, with perhaps 10 rooms per floor, all served by only 3 elevators. This has led to long waiting times, particularly in the morning, making the experience unpleasant for some guests. Additionally, the breakfast area is described as too small to accommodate the demand during breakfast hours, further detracting from the guest experience.

Feb 11, 2025 · MaryDo not spend your money here. Read goodly reviews and do not rely on Expedia or any 3rd party site reviews. This hotel is nothing special and the staff at the front desk are so rude and spiteful if there is any issues whatsoever. Here is my honest review and experience. Immediately upon check in everyone was friendly. When we got to our room (at 2:30) we looked around and noticed it wasn’t thoroughly cleaned. There was stains on the bench, public hairs on the toilet, hairs in the bed, hairs on the bathroom sink, dirt on the chest of drawers, not to mention the dust and dirt accumulated on everything else. I immediately called the front desk, told them I’m sorry to be a hassle but the room wasn’t clean. The staffs tone did a complete 180, they immediately snapped at me that I would need to leave the room and wait until my check in time at 3pm if I wanted something done about it. So we did just that, I grabbed all our stuff and lugged it all back out of the room, went down to the lobby, spoke to the staff and they told me changing rooms was not an option because they were fully booked. They said instead they would be sending in another cleaning team and to allow them an hour (3:30) to clean the room. We left and came back at 5 after offering ample amounts of time to clean the room. Walked up to the front desk, told the same staff that we were here to pickup our bags, she told us directly to step to the side and wait for them. We get the bags, go back up to the room… not a single thing had changed or been cleaned again. At this point all we wanted was to shower and relax after a very very long day of travel, spending a lot of money on accommodations, and little to no sleep. Once again I call, the same staff says I’m so sorry about that I’m going to send the cleaning supervisor (can’t remember the term she used) up to clean it, please allow her 15 minutes. Once again, here we are waiting and it is now 2 hours and 15 minutes past check in time. She calls back and says she’s sorry she didn’t see me when we walked in, she meant to get my attention before we went up, they have a new room for us, and to return to the lobby for the new key. So here we go AGAIN, lugging all of our stuff up and down in complete exhaustion, growing more and more frustrated. We get to the desk, she said she didn’t see us when we walked in (she literally spoke directly to me) and asked if our key cards still worked to our old room, then said how weird that was because the moment we walked out almost 3 HOURS AGO they immediately switched our rooms. After saying there was none available. After telling me I had to wait hours. They did not call me to tell me, they did not wave me down as we stood outside in front of the hotel for 20 minutes afterwards, she had the absolute worst attitude and was 100% being spiteful. All of this is so incredibly unprofessional, disappointing to say the least, and I was not offered a single thing to compensate for our lost time on our very short vacation, or any of our troubles. Aside from all of that— the room is just fine. The bed is pretty uncomfortable, the springs are definitely able to be felt in the bed and the pillows are lumpy which really sucks but Im just grateful that we will only be here for one more night. Only 3 elevators for staff and guests, very long waits. Very basic amenities. If the bathroom would’ve been clean that would’ve been the star of the show, mostly because of the lit mirror. The bathroom door is just a barn sliding door with giant gaps on the side so hopefully you’re very comfortable with the person you are traveling with and with hearing and smelling all the things coming from there. 1/10 rating, and the 1 is only because of the sweet girl who we spoke to at the front desk that seemed like a supervisor of some sort, she was the only one who seemed even remotely apologetic about this whole ridiculous situation. We’ll see if anything is done to rectify this situation or any compensation is offered for all the trouble. Given the lack of hospitality so far, I’d be very surprised.
Mar 16, 2025 · Kat MimsI am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your hotel. Unfortunately, I must convey that I will not be able to recommend your establishment to others based on the issues encountered during my visit. Upon check-in, I experienced a lack of hospitality from the reception staff, particularly the reception lady who was quite rude in her demeanor. Subsequently, my room presented a series of unexpected challenges, including problems with the heater, washroom facilities, and door lock. While the engineer staff was efficient in addressing the heater issue promptly, the overall experience was marred by these inconveniences. Furthermore, the breakfast service was not up to standard, as guests were limited to ordering from a set menu or à la carte, which proved to be both surprising and challenging. The rigidity of the breakfast rules, as explained by the restaurant staff, led to repeated oversights in fulfilling simple requests such as milk, eggs, or additional bread. This limitation made it difficult to enjoy a varied breakfast each day. As an additional note, certain information about the surrounding area, such as the closure of Hell's Kitchen's flea market, was outdated in your promotional materials. It would be beneficial to update this information to avoid misleading guests in the future. Despite our dissatisfaction, we attempted to address our concerns with the reception staff during check-out, only to be met with the same level of rudeness encountered earlier. This final interaction only reinforced our negative impression of the service quality at your hotel. Given these issues, we regretfully wish to inform you that we are unable to provide a positive recommendation for your establishment. While we understand that our booking was nonrefundable, we felt compelled to share our feedback in the hope of improving the overall guest experience.
Dec 01, 2024 · Kiran BashirArrived late Saturday night. Couldn’t park our car in valet due to cones blocking the street and no staff around to move the cones. Parked up the street and walked in. Staff advised us to move the cones ourselves. My finance refused to. Staff got rude. We reserved 2 rooms. One of the room keys was not working so we had to go back down to get this resolved. Tired from a long day this was not good. Asked for toothpaste and she forgot to hand it over so had to go back down again. Bathroom door came off hinges so maintenance had to come fix it. Not all staff were rude but the gal helping us was. Overall the bed was very comfortable and room was clean. Minimal noise. I did call to make a complaint with the supervisor and waiting for her to call back.
