My room with two beds was perfectly clean. The room featured a built-in closet and dresser which made efficient use of space. At no time did I feel cramped even though New York rooms run small. There was also a table/desk and a mini fridge. The bed was firm and comfortable, and the shades completely darkened the room. The bathroom was clean and well-lit, with more water pressure in the shower stall than I remember ever having in New York. When I returned to my room after a morning at museums, housekeeping had done their magic and the beds were made, the curtains open, and the room inviting. The location is unbeatable -- two blocks from Penn Station, a block from the subway, and surrounded by retail and food. I had the perfect slice of pizza from Vito's Slices and Ices two blocks away. The perfection of my room made the lobby and check in experience disappointing. Much of the first floor is given over to food service which I saw very few customers in, while guests waiting to check in are confined to a few couches by the water cooler and check in line. Check in line, you say? They only had one clerk on duty at 6 PM, resulting in a 20 minute wait. I hope this day was an anomaly with a staffer out or reassigned, and not a sign that this TRYP by Wyndham hotel doesn't care about the arrival experience after they've put so much thought into the accommodations themselves.

Many guests have praised the proximity to Vito's Slices and Ices, a local favorite for pizza and ice cream.
While the hotel excels in providing clean and comfortable accommodations, some guests have noted areas for improvement. The check-in process has been described as slow during peak hours due to limited staff, which can be frustrating after a long journey. Additionally, there have been reports of a daily resort fee that may not be immediately apparent when booking online.

Mar 21, 2025 · Wendell FinnerThe room rates may seem reasonable at first, but don’t be fooled, there’s a daily resort fee that they spring on you at check-in. My biggest frustration was the complete lack of a working microwave. When I brought this up to the hospitality team, their response was shockingly dismissive. They said there was nothing they could do and that they don’t know why it hasn’t been addressed dispute the amount of complaints received over the past couple days. This level of inconsideration is unacceptable! It’s infuriating that a basic amenity like a microwave isn’t prioritized for guests. I left feeling incredibly upset and let down by the entire experience.
Mar 25, 2025 · Lici LadyBarberGreat location right next to madison square gardens. There is easy accessibility to public transport with a subway stop 20secs from the front door. Rooms are standard NYC rooms, small but they are fit for purpose. Room cleaning is below standard, floors not hoovered or washed, bed sheets are not changed they just make the bed up, and the same long black hairs have been stuck to the shower wall tiles for the last 3 days (neither me nor my girlfriend have black hair) Would not stay again. If I was back in NYC I would book the New Yorker right across the street.
Feb 04, 2025 · Casual Internet BrowserNeat room. All facilities are new and functional as it’s supposed to be. The air condition runs with loud noise in the night and can wake you up. The isolation from neighbor rooms is not good. You can hear the chat, moving stuff. Close to restaurants, convention center, Penn station and bus terminals.
Mar 16, 2025 · Yuwei FanThe rooms were fine for the price and they had great housekeeping. The location was also good, you can get everywhere quickly. However, what really sort of ruined our experience was the reception staff. They were rude, argumentative and spoke with us like we were idiots. On our lasr day when we asked if the luggage storage room was safe the man at the front desk just shrugged. The woman next to him was fighting with a guest, speaking to her as if she was a complete idiot (the woman was being completely polite). Next time I’ll stay a place where I feel welcomed and not like an imposition to hotel staff.
