Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Midtown Manhattan/Penn Station

My daughter and I had a quick trip by train for one night in NYC. This hotel is right across from the train station! You literally cross the street and you're there!! Hotel is clean--staff were so friendly! Lobby is really nice. Room was clean. The bar had happy hour listed, but the prices were not happy hour prices and service was slow. So I definitely wouldn't count on that as a perk. Breakfast was nice--lots of choices! Hotel is close to a subway entry. It's a pretty dirty and gross subway stop but we still rode the subway! We felt very safe in that area even at night. I would return!

I was traveling via Amtrak with a small child and our train arrived late at night. I was so concerned about our safety and walking to the hotel. This hotel could not be any closer to Penn Station. It was literally across a single-lane street. The check-in staff was kind. And, the breakfast staff was the best. Jay showed my son how to use the pancake machine, which he loved. I would highly recommend this place for a quick trip to NYC!

Horrible Experience - Stay Away Do not assume this hotel meets the standard of other Marriott properties—it absolutely does not. My experience was unacceptable from start to finish. 1. I checked in, went out, and came back to find no water in the room at all. 2. I called the front desk, and they said it was a hotel-wide issue. When I asked when it would be fixed, they said they didn’t know. 3. When the water finally started running, it was yellow and dirty, with no hot water—just ice-cold water. 4. I called the front desk again to complain, and they told me to let the water run longer and it would heat up. I had already run it for 20 minutes, but I tried again. Still no hot water. 5. They said they would send an engineer. After 20 minutes, no one came, so I called again. This time, the front desk said the engineer would arrive within 2 minutes. I waited another 30 minutes, but no one showed up. In total, we waited for over 2 hours doing nothing, just waiting for some kind of help from the hotel. My kids had to go to bed without washing because there was still no hot water—just dirty, ice-cold water. I paid over $2,000 for a 5-night stay. The room was small, had no view, and the heater was physically broken. It wasn’t even cosmetically repaired to look presentable. Even after the water issue was “fixed,” there was still no hot water to wash with. This is completely unacceptable for the price paid. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. For the price I paid, the experience was beyond disappointing. Save yourself the hassle and find a better option elsewhere.

I checked in tonight for a quick night after 48 hours of really tough travel, the front desk staff and the lobby bar staff are amazing! Currently having a glass of wine in the lobby bar with really great music. Not too busy, but still a very nice atmosphere! Unfortunately, I witnessed an entitled traveler being very rude to the front desk staff because his TV would not change channels. If I wasn’t holding it together by a thread due to my insane travel delays, I would’ve said something. Buddy, people who serve you are humans too. Kindness goes a long way and so does karma!

Close to Amtrak train station and walking distance to time square. Nice to have included breakfast but the food is just okay, a few more options than a continental bare minimum. Convenient and nice bar and good selections of large and small bites. Service charge 20% included, pay attention so you don’t end up paying twice.
