Holiday Inn Brooklyn Downtown by IHG

After booking this hotel, seeing all the bad reviews made me highly skeptical. However, I needed a hotel; last minute.I usually stay at Hilton's or Marriott branded spots. However, the photos on expendia looked pretty nice. I'm glad I didn't cancel. The hotel definitely could use a reno, yet it was not as bad as the craziest reviews make it out to be. Stayed on a higher floor. My room was super clean. Some dings & scrathes here & there, but everything was clean & smelled quite nice. Bed was SUPER COMFY! Bathroom was very clean; water was working fine, super hot water! Which, I appreciated it. The location is literally PERFECT to get in & out of the city. Several subway stations under five minutes away. Lots of food & shops options in the area. I like to thrift & there's a Goodwill right down the street. Great finds! The Staff were welcoming & accommodating! The pool area is kind of a danger zone that could use a lot of work; other than that lobby, rooms were fine. I would stay again, though. The bad reviews are extremely exaggerated, soley in my opinion!

Good deal for decent modern hotel. No cheesy art. Little scruffy and worn. Ask for high floor room and bathtub if you want. High rooms facing Manhattan nice view. Service was very good, checked us in early as they had rooms ready. Valet parking has in and out which is rare. Close to A line so easy to get into NYC or out into Brooklyn.

I will never stay here again. I'll start off with the worst offense which was being followed to my room by a "housekeeper" who was on the elevator already when I got on. He had floor 14 pressed and I assume he got off on my floor to see where I was staying before knocking on my door a minute later. He knocked and said "housekeeping". Seeing it was the guy on the elevator, I opened the door a crack and he said did you call for towels. Mind you, there were no towels in his hand. I told him I didn't call housekeeping and he faked looked at his phone and said what I don't know why they sent me here and then had an "aha" moment and said weren't you just on the elevator with me. I said yes and closed my door when he said wait and said to be honest I just wanted to know your name. I said no, closed my door and called Guest Services immediately to change rooms. They confirmed based off his description he was housekeeping, but all they did was apologize and downgraded my room to the floor below. This was the first issue I had when I came to the hotel because online, the room said it was an accessible room with a king size bed, but when I checked in, it was a full size bed. False advertisement. Anyway, they moved me down a floor (instead of upgrading) and gave me an actual king bed, but this time instead of facing the Brooklyn skyline, I was looking at construction across the street. Because I felt unsafe I requested to checkout early and contacted my third party site I booked through to speak to management about it. They said I could checkout early but wouldn't receive a partial refund for the second night (it was a two night stay). I came here to celebrate my two year major surgery anniversary and left violated and unheard. I would never come back, there's so much better in the area and unfortunately this was last minute and what was left.

I will come back to with my family. It was clean and quiet majority of the time. It was nice having a life guard in the pool area. They also have a hot tub (tile is dated), steam room, and sauna, which is a nice touch. My sister and boys stayed two hours there just relaxing. The parking is expensive and sometimes hell to get your car but they do allow in/out privileges. The resturant was nice and the bartender made great drinks Overall it was a nice stay and I will be back again soon.

I found an awesome rate for this hotel day of so I booked it and showed up to the hotel. The confirmation was still processing when I got there so the person at the front desk told me to wait a few minutes so I went to sit down in the lobby..as I was walking away I heard the person at the front desk go talk to presumably the supervisor in the back and I heard them mention the third-party by name that I booked from..then a few minutes later I get an email saying that the booking was declined so I go back to the front desk and first they pretend like they still can’t find the reservation so I told them I got an email saying the booking failed and they proceed to ask if I got my money back and say they can just book me directly but not for the rate I found but for a higher rate…needless to say I did not give in to their antics and left got a room right away at Aloft around the corner for a much better rate and was able to check in immediately.
